Reborn at Boot Camp: General, Don’t Mess Around!

Chapter 5417: Chapter 5417: Narrow-Minded

The Special Police Captain, who had many thoughts bottled up, found himself in the presence of Xia Jinyuan, someone who spoke his language, and unconsciously revealed his thoughts. The two, situated in a foreign land, sat and talked in the peacekeeping camp until the large fire burning the clothes died out before they eventually dropped the subject.

Feeling relieved, the Special Police Captain stood up and said to Xia Jinyuan, ”Good brother, thank you for today, for especially taking the time to keep me company. When I return to our country...”

Suddenly, he stopped speaking and showed a bitter smile, ”I hardly dare make any more promises. Next time we patrol together, let’s just as before collaborate well and strive together.”

Xia Jinyuan felt that they wouldn’t have a chance to patrol together anymore and decided to inform the Special Police Captain in advance, ”Brother, I’m afraid I’ll be returning to our country soon. I’ll wait for you there.”

”Returning to our country? Is it time already?”

Peacekeeping soldiers have a standard time period for their missions, generally a year, yet Xia Jinyuan and his team hadn’t even reached half a year.

”Yes, our time is short, and it’s very likely that we’ll be returning soon. I wanted to tell you in advance. If one day I suddenly leave, it will definitely be to return home.”

”Alright, we’ll meet back home.”

Just as the Special Police Captain finished speaking, he suddenly noticed a flash of light from the corner of his eye, similar to the flash of a camera.

Xia Jinyuan immediately lowered his blue helmet and said gravely, ”Wanhai reporter, I’ll go ahead. You go check her camera.” As soon as he finished speaking, he heard a female soldier’s voice, extremely cold, saying, ”Reporter Chen, please hand over the camera to me, thank you!”

That was Gao Xiao’s voice.

The Special Police Captain, hearing this, knew something was up. He was aware that Xia Jinyuan had participated in rescuing Wanhai reporters and also knew that Xia Jinyuan did not want the other party to know, whispered, ”All right, you go first; I’ll handle this.”

With the Special Police Captain stepping in, Xia Jinyuan was naturally reassured to leave, no longer paying any attention to Reporter Chen, who was anything but well-behaved upon entering the Peacekeeping Camp.

Reporter Chen didn’t think there was anything wrong with her taking photographs and refused to hand over her camera for inspection. The end result, as one might expect, was that her camera was forcibly taken and all the photographic film within the camp was destroyed.

It’s worth mentioning that Gao Xiao was very astute; after entering the camp, she had asked Reporter Chen to take out the original film in her camera and replace it with a new one, in anticipation of Reporter Chen’s misbehavior and possible aim to cause trouble in the Chinese peacekeeping camp.

”I knew she wasn’t honest right from the start. When she saw me and Qiu Tong — oh my, those eyes, those nostrils all turned up, acting like a princess, expecting me and Qiu Tong to treat her delicately, like an honored guest.”

”At that moment, I was on guard. When inspecting her camera, I directly took out the old film and asked her to put in a new one. Her face then — ha, ha, ha, it turned green instantly.”

Back in the tent, Gao Xiao sat beside Ye Jian, recounting her battle of wits with Reporter Chen, ”At the time, Qiu Tong didn’t understand why I insisted she switch to a new film. Ha, ha, ha, why, you ask? It’s because I was guarding against her potentially taking prohibited photos that I would need to destroy, and then she could refuse by citing that there were important photos she had taken previously in there, making us passive, right?”

”The instructors once taught us that we must always take the initiative, preemptively nip any possible issues in the bud. Ha, ha, ha, ha, now when I think about the expression on Reporter Chen’s face, I can laugh for a year.”

”Later, when the Special Police Team was destroying some refugees’ clothing, Reporter Chen said she wanted to capture the scene. After getting permission from the colonels, I took her there. She was very cunning; although her lens was aimed at the big fire, she actually used a shallow focus to pull both the sitting Special Police Captain and Instructor Xia into the frame.”
