Death… And Me

Chapter 3941: We Are About to Find Out

One cannot forget what the twins had discussed before the problems with the Judgmental Eye happened. Since the countries inside the Runia Continent agreed to not try to recruit them, that also meant they wouldn’t try to touch them in the open. So, one of the best methods to have the twins’ group killed was to have the experts from other continents do the job for them.

How? By letting the information regarding their identities and the places where they were going escape. All the continents around obviously had their eyes on the Divine Military Academy. So, how could they not think about getting rid of potential future problems while they are still growing up?

Still, Roan was completely unconcerned with that Killing Intent. The Golden Sphere didn’t have killing intent as it had no consciousness. If the enemy is not that Golden Sphere, then Rean can take care of it himself.

’Anyway, let us know if the Golden Sphere or anything with this kind of Golden Power appears,’ Roan said.

Rean nodded and left the teleport formation with his group. Whoever was after him obviously didn’t want to make a move in the open. ’Alright. I’ll have some fun with my new friend while at it.’

Roan then returned to his room, quickly entering the Dimensional Realm. ”Sister Orb, were you able to find anything else? Maybe a clue to who is controlling the Judgemental Eye, if there is anyone at all.”

[As I said, that thing is an artifact, not a formation. I can’t say how it is used or if it is being controlled. At least I didn’t detect anything.]

Roan wasn’t surprised. ”So be it. What about the Werdlem Network?”

[You asked to look all over it, so it will take some time. I already found many things related to Judgemental Eyes, but the information is not from the same Judgemental Eye we are dealing with.]

It made sense. Just how big was the Werdlem Network? Obviously, Sister Orb would find many, many judgmental eyes all over it, judgmental eyes that had nothing to do with their problem. They were techniques, people, beasts, innate abilities, weapons, locations, stories, and even some bloodlines. There were also some Judgemental Eye artifacts, but obviously not the same as this one.

Roan gave Sister Orb space and let her do her work. Meanwhile, he returned outside, moving to the Mission Console Hall. He wasn’t on a mission at the moment, but he had already received a notification regarding it. He had to go there in the following days to receive his next task.

Meanwhile, Ximao had his eyes glued to his CD, watching all the information regarding what happened in Vous Continent. He was also in direct contact with the Vous Imperial Family, who contacted the academy regarding this issue. After all, that Golden Sphere monster appeared right after the Envoy arrived in Lobokian City.

”Friend Hugius, we truly had nothing to do with it. First of all, what kind of disorganized attack was that? One single... thing... that killed a lot of beings in Lobokian and then left? What could my Divine Military Academy possibly have to gain from it? Your wrath?” Ximao asked Hugius, one of the Vous Imperial Family’s higher-ups. ”Besides, didn’t you drive it away? That’s what I’m seeing here on the Werdlem Network.”

-Ximao, that thing appeared together with your Envoy. Who can tell if your academy or your continent wasn’t just testing things out?- Hugius asked back in response. -Also, the one who lured that thing away was not someone from our continent. I already checked all the images and energy readings from when that guy was in Lobokian City. Tell me the truth, he was someone you sent to protect that Minokawa, wasn’t he? I already know about that... what do they call it... Magical Eight?-

”And the two extras...” Ximao murmured.

*Achooo!*

Somewhere else, Gakrid and Rovitel sneezed for no reason, leaving them confused.

Ximao continued. ”It’s not only you. Pretty much everyone knows about them already. However, I can also guarantee that that guy was not part of our Divine Military Exchange Program. The Envoy at that time sent me the recordings of his appearance, and we don’t know anyone like that. First of all, I’m pretty sure your Vous Imperial Family has its own spies here, so you should know if we had someone like that.”

-Hmph!- Hugius still didn’t believe Ximao, but it was also true he already checked his sources, and none of them seemed to know about that expert’s origins. -So be it. We will keep an eye on your continent.-

”I believe you are forgetting something,” Ximao spoke back. ”Since you know the Minokawa is one of the Magical Eight, what proof do you have that this event wasn’t your Imperial Family trying to get rid of a future problem?”

Hugius narrowed his eyes. Indeed, he couldn’t prove that he wasn’t targeting Kentucky, even though his Vous Imperial Family truly wasn’t. -Are you trying to push the blame onto us?-

”Of course not!” Ximao smiled. ”As long as you say it wasn’t you, I will naturally believe a distinguished member of the Vous Imperial Family.”

-Enough with this bullshit,- Hugius saw it wasn’t going anywhere. Neither side could prove anything. -Let’s end this conversation here.-

”Wait!” Ximao stopped him. ”What happened after that? The Envoy and the group that was following him were all small fries with low cultivation. None of them went after that thing. Your Imperial Family, however, must have sent your experts to check, right?”

-Hahaha!- Hugius laughed out loud. -Let’s say I believe that you are not related to that thing. Do you think I would share information regarding it? Keep dreaming. I’m out!- And so, Hugius ended their call.

Ximao sighed, taking a closer look at the information of the Werdlem Network. Too bad that there wasn’t much to be found, making Ximao think. ’The Judgemental Protocol still had enough power to summon a Golden Echo. However, the Golden Echo was obviously destroyed. Was it the Vous Imperial Family?’

Ximao didn’t even consider the twins’ group, since he had ’seen’ their cultivation levels. Regardless of how brilliant they were, they couldn’t possibly have destroyed it.

Ximao shook his head in the end. He knew when the Golden Echo was called, but he couldn’t go check it for obvious reasons.

Suddenly, someone arrived at Ximao’s office, and Ximao let him in. It was Krue’Suan. ”Ximao, that thing that appeared in Vous Continent, was it...”

Ximao looked at him. ”Didn’t you say you wanted to stay out of it?”

”That doesn’t mean I don’t want to be ready if things go south,” Krue’Suan countered. ”So, was it a Golden Echo or not?”

Ximao nodded. ”Yes.”

Krue’Suan looked in the Judgemental Eye’s direction. ”The Golden Echo, a safety agent created by the Judgemental Eye with the Judgement Laws. So even after you intervened, the Judgemental Eye still got that group registered and acted when they left its Observation Range.”

”I didn’t completely break it,” Ximao mentioned. ”If I had, the guys from above would have come to check it already. I didn’t expect it to have enough power to summon a Golden Echo, though. I thought it would have taken at least a few decades before it recovered enough to do such a thing.”

Krue’Suan remembered something. ”Right, when the Golden Echo is summoned, the Eye also warns the authorities about it. Did you block the warning?”

Ximao shook his head. ”I did not.”

”You didn’t?!” Krue’Suan took a deep breath. ”Who’s coming?”

At that moment, something inside Ximao’s Pocket Dimensional Realm activated. Ximao pulled the item out, which looked like a CD. It’s just that it had a golden hue around it. ”Seems like we are about to find out.”
