Death… And Me

Chapter 3492: Running Away?

Once again, Rean returned to the hidden area of the sect, deep inside the part of the mountain the sect occupied. Everything around him was dark, but the formations still worked, making his Divine Sense useless there. Even his Natural Spatial Formation didn’t work, such was the incredible work the sect had put in this place.

Rean’s hand extended, and a sphere of Light Element appeared, illuminating the surroundings. However, it was also at that moment that a sense of danger overcame him, and he jumped to the side as fast as he could!

*Zash!*

A powerful slashing power, cutting even space itself, passed right where Rean had been a split second ago. When Rean looked in the direction it came from, the sight of a woman appeared in front of him, and he quickly shouted before she followed with her next attack, ”Stop! It’s me! It’s me! Rick!”

”Uh?” The woman came from the shadows and stopped, surprised to hear that name. Finally, Rean could see her face well. It was Silveria. Silveria always had a more administrative position in the sect, even though she was in the Space-Time Realm and was a Core Elder. ”It’s really Rick! Didn’t you die before?”

As she said that, she waved her hand, and the entire hidden facility was lit up. Looking around, Rean saw many more disciples and other members of the sect. Most of them were part of the group who knew about the plan ahead of time to enter the Everynight World, though. After all, how else would they have known of this place?

”It’s truly you!” Said another woman, this one even easier to recognize. It was Abi, the Sect Master herself! ”How are you still alive?”

Rean was happy to see that many elders were there. It made his trip to the sect worth it since quite a few of them were in the Space-Time Realm. They would be a huge boost to the attack in the city. ”We can talk about that later. At the moment, we are attacking the city, trying to convert the robots that are defending it. We need your help if you can.”

Abi and Silveria were completely lost. ”Wait, wait, wait! What are you even talking about? No, first of all! How can we help with anything?! Those robots have some weird formation that completely locks us out of the cultivation energies. We can’t even move when it is active. That’s why we have been hiding! Instead of attacking them, we need to use this opportunity to run away!”

Rean shook his head in response. ”I won’t lie; you can indeed run away, but I very much wish you could help me. I’ll send you a Divine Sense message, trying to resume the situation as best as I can.”

Rean had already thought about what to say before even arriving here, so he sent the whole thing through his Divine Sense. Thanks to how summarized it was, Silveria, Abi, and the others understood the situation in just a little over a minute. ”So you and your companions are able to move in this place and aren’t blocked from the cultivation energies?”

”Yes!” Rean nodded, and he quickly threw hundreds of the same devices he gave Rifindio to the sect members inside that place. ”Just put on this bracelet, and the city’s formations won’t affect you,” Well, they weren’t really formations, but Rean didn’t mention that as it wasn’t important now. ”They will think you are also robots. With this, you can use your full power. Naturally, you can run away easily since the strongest robots we met so far only had power equivalent to Elemental Space Realm experts.”

Both Silveria and Abi still had hundreds of questions to ask. First of all, how did Rean even manage to make these devices? How was he able to move before he built them? It seemed too ridiculous. That made them wonder if Rick and Morty were actually related to the robots from the very start instead. But then again, after hearing of the situation, they knew they had to act now. The only doubt was whether they should take this chance to run away or help with the attack.

”Are you sure there are no robots at the Space-Time Realm level in the city?” Silveria asked. At the very least, Rean... or Rick... came back to help them. Besides, they lost so many disciples when the robots attacked, so she definitely wanted to take revenge.

Rean shook his head. ”I don’t know. To be honest, I just think the SANS City hasn’t sent their real strong ones because they are too afraid of Qwerty getting close to the Zoshia Enterprise Building. There might really be robots there that are as strong as Space-Time Realm experts.”

Roan’s message then reached Rean. ’Stop wasting time. I will need their help to open a path to the Zoshia Enterprise. Just convince them somehow!’

Rean was helpless. ’I’m trying, okay? You didn’t even believe they were alive to start with. It’s not like you didn’t have another plan to reach the Zoshia Enterprise Building!’

’I do,’ Roan didn’t deny that. ’But that would require the sacrifice of at least half of all CAU Units we have at the moment.’

Rean definitely didn’t want that to happen, so he returned his attention to Abi and the others. It was then that he had an idea. ”Sect Master, just what kind of technology is this? Didn’t you say it yourself? You wanted to go to the Divine Realm and try to take a foothold in there, right? Well, even though you guys here are alive, most of the sect was killed.”

”Fortunately, we have a few Space-Time Realm experts here. If this attack works and we eliminate the loyalty-ensuring code from the servers, that will make all robots free. At that moment, you might actually be seen as a savior and have total access to the technology of this city. How good would it be to have access to that?”

Abi narrowed her eyes. Sure, she was definitely interested in it. The robots even managed to lock her out of the cultivation energies. That was amazing, as much as she hated it was used against her sect. It’s just that she didn’t know the risks involved. ”Are you sure you can get Qwerty to the servers?”

”No!” Rean shook his head. ”I said I would not lie, didn’t I? What I can say is that we have a good chance of it working. If it doesn’t, with my devices protecting you against having your powers blocked, you should at least be able to flee. If you truly care for the future of the sect, as you say, then there is no better opportunity than to take hold of this technology and the robots. Just don’t forget, they have real wills, so they can even become the new disciples and elders of the future. Many of them, the CAU Units, are literally helping us now.”

Abi and Silveria looked at each other and then at the other Core Elders that fled into this place. They obviously traded some words through Divine Sense, as the formations in this place didn’t apply to them. The way they are, the sect would have no chance of fixating itself in the Divine Realm in the short term. It would have to be done in silence and over a very long time, so this truly might be an opportunity to turn misfortune into fortune. Finally, Abi sighed, and they all reached a conclusion. ”We are running away. I’m sorry.”
