Death… And Me

Chapter 3408: I’ll Do What I Can

”Errr... let’s see it here,” Rean started to read. ”The entire forest is also surrounded by a complex system of teleport formations. The moment we step inside, we will be teleported to specific locations based on our cultivation level.”

”Isn’t there any mention of where?” Kentucky asked.

”Not that I can see on their official website,” Rean shook his head. ”Anyway, each realm will start from different places, so we won’t be able to stay together.”

Truth be told, they could use Sister Orb to allow them all to be teleported to the same place, but that would immediately show that they could mess with the sect’s formations. After all, Zangeshu and Ridia were not supposed to go to the same place as Rean and the others. That’s exactly what they don’t want to happen.

”What about the test itself?” Roan asked, not minding the separation. ”It is weird that we didn’t have to go through any requirement check before signing it off to participate.”

Most of the powers they had joined in the past, especially those who didn’t know anything about them, always had many requirements, like age, talent, cultivation, elemental control, and other things. The Divine Snow Mountain Sect, however, didn’t ask to check any of those things and simply accepted them into the test.

”It seems it is all about reaching the sect... alive,” Rean spoke while reading the contents. ”Similar-level experts of all kinds, like demon beasts, spirits, and humanoids, will try to get rid of you. Yes, they will come after you for the kill. Yet, you are prohibited from killing them or cause any long lasting injury back. You can use your weapons, skills, or whatever you want to defend yourself and move in the sect’s direction, as long as you don’t break the previous rules.”

”Also,” Rean continued. ”You are only permitted to use things that rely on your own strength. So, anything that works without your strength is prohibited. No life-saving treasures, no one-time attack items made by old monsters, nothing like that. The entire selection is under the watch of the elders of the sect and formations that can detect who knows how many things. Even Sister Orb would probably find it impossible to hide someone against all of that.”

[You are understating it, I’m certain I can’t... unless you give me a few years to hack into every single one of those formations and hope that I don’t forget any of them or that I’m not found at all.]

Rean and Roan didn’t even consider that possibility. The test would start in a few minutes.

”Simply put, use your strength or fuck off,” Roan resumed. ”We wouldn’t use anything else anyway.”

Rean nodded and turned to Zangeshu. ”You and Ridia are in the Transition Realm, so you will be responsible for her.”

”What?!” Zangeshu narrowed his eyes. ”Why should I waste my time with the kid?”

”Stop complaining and just do it,” Rean didn’t give him the chance to refuse. ”She passing this time is necessary for our plans to succeed, understood?”

”Sigh...” Zangeshu could only accept in the end. ”I can do that, but I’m not sure if even I can pass this test, let alone protect her while I do.”

”Hmph!” Roan snorted. ”I didn’t train you, but I did teach the idiot. Since Rean was as harsh with you as I was with him, then I can guarantee it. You shouldn’t encounter any issues as long as your enemies are in the Transition Realm. You have the Body and Energy Cultivation Techniques we gave you.”

Zangeshu didn’t consider himself a combatant, but there wasn’t much he could do anyway. He also needed to enter the sect, and if he wanted to wander free, he must become a member. Otherwise, he will be stuck inside the Dimensional Realm while the twins stay there. ”Fine, I will believe you.”

”Still, for a sect of this size, this is quite a straightforward test...” Rifindio commented.

”You heard the disciple who registered us, didn’t you?” Rean shrugged. ”They make the tests based on what the sect is in need of at the moment. Since this is all about personal power, they must be in need of cultivators that can fight. That’s why you never know what test they might come up with. The fact you can’t kill or seriously injury them might also be related to your ability of concealment or things like that. We will find out sooner or later.”

”Is there any way to give up before dying?” Kentucky asked this time. Since there were so many formations there, perhaps they left a lifeline for candidates who understood they were not up to the task.

”Yes,” Rean nodded. Sure enough, the sect was well prepared. ”As soon as you enter the forest, you will receive a token. Break it, and it will teleport you out straight away. Naturally, you will fail the test at that moment as well. Oh, they also mention here that those tokens are bound to the land. You won’t be able to send them into your pocket dimensional realms or spatial rings.”

”Then we have to make sure that even if we are in an easy fight, we won’t allow the token to be broken. That’s definitely a way to get someone else to fail,” Roan commented.

*Zuuuuuuooooooommmmm...*

Suddenly, an alarm began to echo over the entire city. In front of them, the formation surrounding the forest reacted, and the barrier preventing the participants from entering disappeared. Many Divine Senses appeared in the twins’ Divine Sense Bending Skill, all powerful ones coming from inside the forest itself.

”That’s the signal for the start of the test. Zangeshu, Ridia, we will see you in the sect. If you think you are going to die, just break that token. We can deal with the rest after we are out.”

”Okay!” Ridia spoke, her eyes shinning. For her who has been awake for such a short time, that test seemed a good opportunity to see more of the world.

Rean glanced at Zangeshu, sending him a Divine Sense Message. ’She is truly just like a kid at the moment. She obviously never killed anyone. You can’t kill the sect’s forces anyway in this test. However, the same can’t be said regarding other participants. Keep your eyes open, especially for her.’

Zangeshu felt even more annoyed. ’This is bullshit... but I’ll do what I can.’
