The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1826: Chapter 1826: Dead (4)

”Ha.” Yang Ruxin laughed, ”I really hadn’t thought about it before, but hearing you say it like that, that girl’s got the mind for it... So what to do? Can’t exactly go and warn the Cui Family, and even if we did, they might not believe us.”

”This matter isn’t urgent, we can plan it out over time.” Gu Qingheng smiled, ”But the immediate matter...”

”What?” Yang Ruxin’s eyes widened instantly.

”Obviously it’s sleep.” Gu Qingheng said, pulling Yang Ruxin down onto the bed.

As for what might happen, only the moon knew.

The next day, Gu Qingheng went off to the Governor’s Office to serve, while Yang Ruxin stayed at home preparing clothes and jewelry for the palace visit tomorrow.

The attire for going to the palace is quite a study itself. Back when Elderly Nanny taught her the rules, she mentioned that sometimes when the attire and adornment aren’t right, it can cause trouble. Like with jewelry, if someone without any rank assumes they’re rich and wears a phoenix hairpin to the palace, not losing their head would already be considered royal mercy.

Actually, it’s easiest for those with rank under the Imperial Edict, as they just need to wear formal attire. They have custom uniforms already, but it’s a hardship for those without rank.

For the birthday banquet, it mustn’t be too plain, but can’t be too extravagant either. If you overshadow the main character, wouldn’t that breed resentment?

Fortunately, Madam Lou was reliable in this aspect, thoughtfully helping to select a light blue dress, made of Rainbow-colored Brocade, with only a few orchid patterns embroidered on the hem and cuffs. Her hair was styled into a woman’s bun, with a Jade Hairpin inlaid with a ruby.

This was a relic left by the deceased Shu Manzhi.

I heard it was given to Shu Manzhi by her grandmother when she came of age, considered a family heirloom of the Shu Family.

Though it seems ordinary outwardly, according to Gu Qingheng it’s anything but ordinary in origin. The story goes that back then the Shu Family’s ancestor saved an injured fox in the mountains, and as gratitude, the fox later led the ancestor to a jade mine. The Shu Family rose to prominence because of it, as among the unearthed stones, one not only contained green jade but also a ruby.

Thus, the Shu ancestor carved a hairpin from the jade, set the ruby into it, and gave it to his wife, passing it down to his granddaughter-in-law... Later, when it reached Shu Manzhi’s grandfather, he had a son named Shu Xing. Originally meant for the eldest daughter-in-law, it ended up with Shu Manzhi instead, and now it’s oddly landed in Yang Ruxin’s hands.

No matter the case, this hairpin carries extraordinary meaning, having been passed down in the Shu Family for nearly two hundred years.

Though Yang Ruxin isn’t of the Shu Family, Gu Qingheng shares the Shu bloodline, so she wears it with peace of mind.

And then earrings and bracelets were matched accordingly, making her overall appearance neither excessively flamboyant nor overly modest, not instantly noticeable but definitely not overlooked among a crowd.

While busy with preparations, Gu Di suddenly hurried over, saying there was an important matter to report.

Yang Ruxin quickly called him in.

”Madam, Luo Yusheng and Luo Yujiao, the siblings, are dead...”
