The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1190: Chapter 1190: The So-Called Wulin (7)

Having left the villa, Yang Ruxin, who hadn’t yet learned to ride a horse and thus hadn’t brought her new mount, was then led by Gu Qingheng.

”Aside from playing the flute, what other instruments can you play?” In fact, Yang Ruxin was quite envious of those who could play musical instruments. In her previous life, she never had the chance to learn various instruments, and the only musical talent she possessed was belting out a few tunes at KTV. She had one specialty though—she could whistle.

In her previous life, there was a time when she whistled at girls on the street and ended up being called a hooligan. She almost got beaten up by the community aunties, but luckily, she managed to run away quickly.

”I can play most of them, I guess,” Gu Qingheng laughed. ”Everyone in my maternal family likes musical instruments. My mother is the best at playing the zither, there was even an occasion when white birds gathered, vying to out-sing it...”

Yang Ruxin’s eyes widened in amazement, and then she gave him a thumbs-up.

”Originally, when my master took me in, the weapon given to me was a flute. However, I found the flute not as convenient to carry as a soft sword, so I switched to the soft sword...” Gu Qingheng chuckled.

”Tell me about the world of Wulin,” Yang Ruxin said, genuinely curious.

”I don’t know much about the so-called Wulin...” Gu Qingheng sighed, ”because I’m not really one of the martial artists. But in simple terms, Wulin is a world of martial practitioners. It’s similar to the world where we live, having a leader and beneath it various families. Each family has its own unique skills or abilities. For example, the Tang Sect from the Shu Region dominates the Wulin with their poison arts, and there’s Wanren Villa, which houses almost all the divine weapons you’ve ever heard of from ancient times until now...”

”The leader is the Martial Arts Alliance Hierarch?”

Gu Qingheng nodded, ”Every five years, a martial arts conference is held at the peak of Dai Mountain. The next Alliance Hierarch is elected through competition...”

”Dai Mountain? Is it also known as Mount Tai?”

”That’s another name for it,” Gu Qingheng adjusted his cloak and wrapped Yang Ruxin tightly inside, ”The current Alliance Hierarch is also the owner of the number one estate, Ming Yu. He was elected the new Alliance Hierarch five years ago, and this year it’s time for the martial arts conference again. Generally, the invitations are sent out to heroes half a year in advance...”

Yang Ruxin nodded, listening with interest. If she had the chance, she would definitely want to see it for herself.

Then, Gu Qingheng talked about some of the Wulin sects he knew about.

”In short, Wulin and the Imperial Court generally don’t interfere with each other. However, sometimes they do collaborate. For example, at the end of the last dynasty, when the court was corrupt and the people could barely survive, some degenerates from Wulin even took advantage of the situation to commit evil, causing unrest throughout Wulin. Therefore, when Emperor Gaozu raised an army, he did so in alliance with many martial artists. They not only overthrew the previous dynasty but also helped purify Wulin...”

Chatting like this, they soon arrived at the city gates.

Because of the light festival, the area from the city gate was brightly lit and teeming with people.

The group could only dismount and walk with their horses.

In her previous life, Yang Ruxin had participated in a light festival, but those lanterns were electric and mechanically crafted, naturally exquisite.

Now, the lanterns above her were all handmade, with hand-pasted paper and hand-painted designs. Whether depicting people, flowers, or birds, they were all lifelike. In terms of beauty, they were not at all inferior to those of later generations.

”Come take a look, guess the riddles on the lanterns!” Just then, a middle-aged man was calling out beside a lantern stand not far away, ”Guess correctly, and the lantern is yours to take...”
