Chapter 1793: Chapter 1786: Memories of the Past

Seeing Lu Tianxing enjoying his meal, a bright smile appeared on the old man’s face, but he didn’t eat himself and kept his eyes on Lu Tianxing the entire time.

Meanwhile, Bai Zhiqing and Lin Qianru only ate a little, just enough to fill their stomachs, and stopped eating. It’s not that they didn’t want to eat, but rather the atmosphere at the table was somewhat strange.

When Lu Tianxing drank down the last bowl of porridge, the old man finally came to his senses. Looking at Lu Tianxing, he spoke softly, ”Tianxing, you must have a lot of questions in your heart now!”

”Yes.”

Lu Tianxing nodded slightly at the old man’s words and said, ”Elder Jiang...”

Before Lu Tianxing could finish speaking, the old man, as if knowing what he wanted to say, interrupted, ”You want to ask me why I sent Cangwu to Beijing to help you, why Cangwu calls you young master, and whether the rumors about your mother being my adoptive daughter are true, right?”

Lu Tianxing nodded slightly upon hearing the old man’s words. These questions indeed reflected his biggest doubts and the reasons he came this time to seek answers.

Looking at Lu Tianxing, the old man slowly said, ”Actually, you already know the answer, don’t you? You’ve guessed correctly, your mother is indeed my adoptive daughter, and you are my grandson. I am your grandfather.”

Upon hearing the old man’s words, Lu Tianxing couldn’t help but shudder, even though he had already expected this in his heart. Hearing the old man’s confirmation still felt unbelievable and hard to accept.

After all, if the old man in front of him was truly Beiqiang Jiang Liufeng, he would be a legendary martial artist on par with Old Master Lu. But now, he couldn’t feel any tangible threat from the old man, and his strength seemed to be only at the Yellow Level Realm, barely a novice martial artist, which was far from the legends.

However, Cangwu’s strength clearly indicated that this old man was no ordinary person. An ordinary person could not have taught a late-stage mythical martial artist.

The old man, seeing the confusion in Lu Tianxing’s eyes, did not explain further but breathed out a deep sigh and said, ”Tianxing, would you like to hear my past stories?”

”Alright.”

Lu Tianxing didn’t refuse, sensing that the ensuing story from the old man would definitely be related to his mother.

The old man took a deep breath upon hearing Lu Tianxing’s assent, a nostalgic look appearing on his face as if sinking into memories: ”Speaking of the first time I met your mother, it truly makes one marvel at life’s unpredictability and irony.”

”At that time, I was already a well-known strongman in China, renowned as the Beiqiang. I was considered successful and believed my spear skills were unrivaled. And back then, at just thirty, I had already reached the late stage of mythical realm, counting as one of the top experts worldwide, standing at the pinnacle of the pyramid.”

At this point, a proud expression appeared on the old man’s face. A thirty-year-old late-stage mythical martial artist was indeed rare worldwide, a genius among geniuses, worthy of pride.

”I thought I was invincible, and just after reaching the late mythical stage, I entered Beijing, planning to establish a name and career there. Initially, everything went well; I did make a name for myself and became very close friends with Ji Xingyun, the leader of the Yanhuang Group at the time. If everything went smoothly, I would’ve had a spot in Beijing.”

”However, by chance, I witnessed a young master from a notable family in Beijing bullying people. I couldn’t hold back and killed him. Unfortunately, the young master belonged to a powerful family. Ji Xingyun advised me to leave Beijing, but I was dismissive, thinking no family could corner me, but due to my arrogance, I fell into their trap, got poisoned, and was hunted by many experts who all ended up dead by my hand.”

”Though I killed those who chased me, I was at my wits’ end, seriously injured, wandering like a headless fly, hoping to find a place to heal, but ultimately fainted from exhaustion.”

As the old man recounted, a happy smile crept across his face: ”When I awoke, I found myself on a wooden bed, my wounds bandaged. That’s when I met your mother for the first time. I’ll never forget that day, your mother being just a 13 or 14-year-old orphan, and my awakening place was a slum in Beijing.”

”Your mother never flinched from living in a slum. Instead, she cleaned the room every day. When I woke up, she was so happy, cheerfully told me she saved me, insisted it was virtuous and that even in death, she’d go to heaven. She had adorable dimples when she smiled.”

At this moment, the old man was completely immersed in memories. His eyes showed a trace of nostalgia as if he’d returned several decades to the past.

Bai Zhiqing and Lin Qianru sat silently beside him, quietly listening to the old man’s story. They too wanted to know what kind of person Lu Tianxing’s mother was.

”Later, to recover, I stayed in your mother’s home. She’d leave early and return late, bringing me sticky rice each time. I’d ask if she had eaten, and she’d always playfully pat her little belly and claim she was full.”

”Thanks to her care, I survived and realized that fame and fortune are fleeting, and living happily is most important.”

The old man’s face turned cold with killing intent: ”But something happened one day; your mother should’ve returned early as usual, but she was late. I heard she collected empty bottles to sell for my medicine and meals, and for doing so, she clashed with others who scavenged bottles. She was beaten badly.”
