Chapter 1697: Chapter 1690: Qiaoqiao’s Phone Call

As the Shen Family was under attack, Lu Tianxing and Avril had just dined out and were driving back to Han Family Hotel.

Just as he stepped out of the car, Lu Tianxing heard his phone suddenly ringing crisply.

Who would call at this time?

Lu Tianxing frowned, a hint of confusion flashing across his face, but without any hesitation, he took out his phone. Seeing the caller ID, a faint smile appeared at the corner of his mouth, and he answered without delay.

”Uncle, where are you? Hurry and come save me, Qiaoqiao is about to die.”

As soon as Lu Tianxing answered, he heard Qiaoqiao’s voice filled with sobs, with faint sounds of fighting coming through the phone.

”Qiaoqiao, what’s wrong? What happened?” Lu Tianxing’s expression changed, and he quickly asked.

”I... I don’t know. Tonight, mom told me to stay in my room alone and had Second Grandpa protect me. But just now, a bunch of people in black came home. They want to kill the Grand Elder and said they want to take mom away.”

Qiaoqiao was sobbing, but her tone was clear and coherent as she quickly explained the situation: ”Uncle, I’m begging you, please save mom.”

”I understand, Qiaoqiao. Where are you now? I’ll be there right away.” Lu Tianxing took a deep breath, asking in a steady voice.

Standing beside Lu Tianxing, Avril felt a piercing chill emanate from him. In that moment, he seemed like a Starving Ghost rising from Hell, sending chills down her spine.

”I’m at the Shen Family Mansion, Uncle hurry up, the Grand Elder is hurt, mom can’t hold on much longer.”

”I understand, Qiaoqiao, find a place to hide well, I’m coming right away.”

Lu Tianxing assured Qiaoqiao and promptly hung up the phone, then glanced at Avril, handing her the room card: ”Avril, you go back to the room yourself, I have some things to do. You don’t need to wait for me tonight.”

Before finishing his sentence, Lu Tianxing didn’t give Avril a chance to speak, he turned and headed to the car’s driver’s seat, his face revealing a cold, bloodthirsty smile, ready for carnage tonight.

Watching Lu Tianxing’s departing figure, Avril’s lips moved slightly, softly saying, ”Lu Tianxing, take care.”

”Hm.”

Startled by Avril’s words, Lu Tianxing nodded subtly, not dwelling on her change of attitude, and slipped into the car.

”Boom!”

Accompanied by the engine’s roaring, the car surged forward, grazing a vehicle in the parking lot with a stylish drift, appearing on the street, then fading into the night.

Standing at the hotel entrance, clutching the room card, Avril watched the disappearing taillights with a complex expression, sighed deeply, and turned to walk inside. She realized she was somewhat envious of the woman who could summon Lu Tianxing to her rescue with just one call.

”Shen Manjun, you foolish woman, knowing someone is after you, why didn’t you tell me? You better not get in trouble, I still plan to teach you a harsh lesson!”

Sitting in the car, Lu Tianxing’s eyes were fixed ahead, his face grave, filled with an aura of killing intent, as his car maneuvered recklessly through the road, speeding to its limit.

This time, to avoid traffic, Lu Tianxing chose a road with lighter traffic flow, although lighter only relative to Beijing’s main roads.

All the drivers on the road heard deafening engine roars behind them, and those who opened their windows felt a gust like knives cutting their cheeks. Before they could see clearly, a car swiftly passed by like a lightning bolt, the taillights vanishing into the night by the time they blinked again.

”Damn, why drive so fast, rushing to reincarnate or what?”

”Damn it, scared me to death, don’t run, I’ll catch up and kill you.”

”Screw you, bullying me for driving a Wuling Hongguang, this is the divine car, Akina Mountain’s car god.”

The entire road erupted in curses, with dialects from various regions. Some even speeded up, trying to chase Lu Tianxing’s car, but seeing it vanish into the night, they slammed their hands on the steering wheel in frustration, cursing madly at the reckless lunatic.

Meanwhile, at the Yanhuang Group headquarters, lights shone brightly.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Rapid footsteps suddenly echoed down the narrow corridor, with Jiao Long appearing, his face etched with deep concern, striding towards Sima Lingyun’s office.

Reaching the office, Jiao Long didn’t bother knocking, he pushed the door open.

Upon seeing Sima Lingyun, he immediately spoke: ”Captain, urgent report just arrived, something happened to the Shen Family, their mansion was suddenly attacked tonight by unknown forces, they’ve already infiltrated the Shen Family Mansion.”

”What did you say? Someone attacked the Shen Family? What’s going on, why haven’t I received a call from them?” Sima Lingyun stood up immediately upon hearing Jiao Long, asking somberly.

As the Yanhuang Group’s captain, Sima Lingyun was naturally familiar with the Shen Family. Officially focusing on business, they’ve secretly been researching gene enhancement technology, aiming to grant ordinary people super soldier capabilities. Though without results for long, authorities obtained their tech info and established a special institute. Though the Shen Family’s institute appears to cooperate, they’ve become independent, essentially privatized.

Though the Shen Family occasionally faced attacks, they’d always escape harm, hence the Yanhuang Group merely kept eyes on them, sending few personnel. But now attacked, even breaching their mansion, it suggested Shen Manjun’s research might have succeeded.

Realizing this, Sima Lingyun’s face changed drastically; if genetic enhancement succeeded, China could produce countless super soldiers. Should this technology leak, consequences would be unthinkable.
