Supreme Star Card Master

Chapter 901: Chapter 699: Homestyle Life (Thanks to Hei Pao, the Alliance Hierarch!)

After casually resolving a minor disturbance, Su Yuan didn’t linger any further.

With his mind set on returning home, Su Yuan headed straight to Four Seasons Garden.

With Wang Haiping’s endorsement and special attention from the higher-ups, Su Yang and Tang Shiyang’s life naturally became better and better.

Even so, Su Yang and Tang Shiyang did not move houses; they continued living in Four Seasons Garden, enjoying their everyday life.

At this moment, Su Yuan looked around and could see several City Guard members patrolling nearby.

Moreover, Su Yuan slightly raised his head and glanced at the twelve-story building opposite Four Seasons Garden.

There, a man with a buzz cut, wearing plain clothes, was smoking by the window of an apartment.

This person looked ordinary, but his Shining Star Level strength was very apparent in Su Yuan’s eyes.

Su Yuan could instantly tell that this person wasn’t harboring any malice toward Four Seasons Garden but was secretly protecting it.

”Did Senior Brother Wang send someone from Qingye City?” Su Yuan contemplated briefly and roughly guessed.

Back in the day, in Guangchuan City, a Shining Star Level individual was definitely a bigwig.

But because of the recent Grey Realm incident, many experts came to support Guangchuan City.

The City Guard also adopted a grid-based system to divide patrolling members to ensure the citizens’ safety.

Even so, the areas with Shining Star Level experts in charge wouldn’t exceed five.

It would either be the residential areas of Guangchuan City Government and Education Bureau leaders or key industrial bases, research institutes...

And an old residential area like Four Seasons Garden clearly doesn’t have that qualification.

If Wang Haiping were the director of Qingye City Guard Bureau, it would be fine, but as an Education Bureau leader, it’s naturally inconvenient to mobilize the City Guard.

Thinking about it, this person was likely someone Wang Haiping privately arranged to trust.

Su Yuan merely glanced over and didn’t bother to hide anything, directly entering Four Seasons Garden through the main gate.

The buzz-cut man was smoking; as soon as he saw Su Yuan, he immediately felt a faint yet powerful aura.

”Hmm? Expert!”

The buzz-cut man was startled and instantly heightened his vigilance, examining Su Yuan closely.

Upon recognizing Su Yuan, the man’s expression changed, and he quickly extinguished his cigarette, calling Wang Haiping.

”Luo Song, why are you calling? Is there trouble at Four Seasons Garden?” As soon as the call was answered, Wang Haiping’s somewhat tense voice was heard.

The buzz-cut man hurriedly replied, ”No, no, there’s no trouble.”

Wang Haiping secretly breathed a sigh of relief, ”Then what’s the matter?”

”Director Wang, that person is back!”

”Hmm? You mean, Su Yuan is back?”

”Exactly!”

Right after the man spoke, the sound of shuffling papers was heard from the other end of the call.

Qingye Municipal Education Bureau Director’s office.

Wang Haiping stood up and instructed, ”Xiao Yu, make arrangements for us to go to Guangchuan right away.”

Xiao Yu looked at the schedule, ”Director, you still have a meeting this afternoon with the education bureau leaders from Yanyun and Zigui.”

Wang Haiping tidied up his desk, ”My junior brother is back.”

Xiao Yu paused, then understood, responding solemnly, ”Okay, I’ll make the arrangements immediately!”

Why Wang Haiping had risen smoothly to his current position was very clear to Xiao Yu, as she had always been his close secretary!

It’s rumored that Director Wang’s junior brother performed some incredible feat at the front line half a year ago, directly altering the situation between the north and south.

And just two months ago, the former Qingye Municipal Education Bureau Director Yan Chenfei was transferred to Shuzhou City, and Wang Haiping was appointed as the successor without opposition.

Everyone in Guangchuan and Qingye City knew Wang Haiping had significant backing.

However, because Su Yuan’s achievements as an Imperial Envoy, Star Lord, and Envoy had become increasingly confidential externally, apart from Yan Chenfei and some bigwigs in Shuzhou City’s Education Bureau, many people weren’t really aware of Wang Haiping’s exact background.

Only knowing that this background seemed to get bigger and more solid!

When one person ascends, everyone around rises.

Wang Haiping benefited from his junior brother’s shine, and Xiao Yu benefited from Wang Haiping’s rise.

So upon hearing about Su Yuan, Xiao Yu immediately grasped the gravity of the situation.

Forget the leaders of Zigui and Yanyun, even the leaders of Shuzhou City would have to step aside!

Wang Haiping added, ”Also, cancel all plans for tomorrow and the day after.”

”Of course, Director!”

...

Su Yuan’s home.

In the kitchen, Tang Shiyang was stir-frying green pepper with pork.

Meanwhile, Ashley, dressed in a chiffon blouse and a floral skirt, was attempting to help by awkwardly slicing potatoes.

”Tap tap tap...”

But after trying with two potatoes, the resulting strips were uneven in size and thickness... too chaotic for words.

Tang Shiyang saw this and couldn’t help but chuckle, ”Little Ai, just sit and relax; leave this to Auntie. Don’t get your clothes dirty.”

”It won’t get dirty,” Ashley shook her head, ”Let me try again...”

Ashley looked at the potato, pondered briefly, then took out a brand new Cross Sword.

Just as Tang Shiyang was puzzled, with several flashes of sword light, the entire potato suddenly broke into pieces.

However, instead of uniform potato strips, they were broken into irregularly sized pieces...

Ashley paused, then furrowed her brows.

Though the space kitchen was too small to unleash full skills, the result was still disappointing.

”Pfft~ hahaha...”

Tang Shiyang couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

”Little Ai, we have an old saying in Great Flame, ’Why use a cattle knife to kill a chicken?’ Just use kitchen utensils in the kitchen, there’s no need for real swords or true blades.”

Ashley was momentarily taken aback but then realized she might have been a bit over-the-top. Rarely blushing, she quickly put away her Cross Sword.

Tang Shiyang put down the spatula and said, ”Come, I’ll teach you. Unlike you Star Card Masters, this is how you hold a kitchen knife...”

Tang Shiyang had Ashley grip the kitchen knife, then held her hand, teaching her step by step.

Ashley could feel Tang Shiyang’s hand, slightly rough but very warm.

Growing up with her sister, Ashley had no recollection of her parents.

But this feeling was somewhat familiar, and for a moment, Ashley felt a bit dazed.

”Look, apply force like this, then find the right angle...” Tang Shiyang guided Ashley in slicing the potato, explaining carefully, ”The thickness should be moderate; too thick and it won’t taste right, too thin and the texture isn’t good...”

”Da-da-da...”

Tang Shiyang skillfully sliced the potato into slices, then into strips, not too fast, not too slow, with even force.

The sliced potato strips were uniformly long and thick.

”Impressive...”

Ashley’s eyes sparkled slightly as she looked at the uniformly cut potato strips.

Tang Shiyang crossed her arms, smiled somewhat proudly, ”After all, I’ve been doing this for twenty years, practice makes perfect. With time, you’ll get the hang of it.”

Giving Ashley an encouraging look, Tang Shiyang continued stir-frying the pork in her pan.

Ashley pondered for a moment, then took another potato, held the kitchen knife, and recalled Tang Shiyang’s movements and strength, and started slicing slowly.

”Da-da-da...”

Starting slow, then faster, it didn’t take long for another batch of sliced potato strips to appear on the cutting board.

Though there were still slight variations in thickness, it was much improved compared to before.

Watching the potato strips Ashley had cut, Tang Shiyang was amazed.

”Wow? Such great progress, these potato strips are almost as good as someone with several years of experience! Really impressive, Little Ai!” Tang Shiyang praised.

”Mmm...”

Ashley felt quite pleased in her heart too.

Tang Shiyang thought for a moment, then took out a cookbook from a cabinet in the corner of the kitchen.

The cookbook was slightly yellowed and felt a little greasy to the touch.

Though often wiped clean, it had still been in the kitchen for over ten years.

Tang Shiyang flipped through it quickly and handed the cookbook to Ashley: ”Little Ai, this is ’Home-style Potato Strips’, have a look, later Aunty will teach you how to make it using the potato strips you’ve cut. It’s very simple~”

Ashley took the cookbook, and its contents were all handwritten.

On the bottom right of the last step, she also saw Tang Shiyang’s note—”Little Yuan’s favorite (＾▽＾)”.

Ashley’s eyes lit up, and she promptly began reading it carefully...

Before long, it was mealtime.

”Aunty, let me help you.”

Tang Shiyang held a plate and said, ”You just go and sit down, go on~”

In the living room, Su Yang smiled and called out, ”Little Ai, come and sit.”

Ashley saw this and followed Su Yang to sit on the sofa.

Although she was no longer as restrained as at the beginning, she still sat straight and proper.

Her silver hair draped down, appearing elf-like from the side.

Since learning of the situation in Guangchuan City on the first day, Ashley had urgently flown to Guangchuan City to protect Father Su and Mother Su.

At first, the two elders were skeptical, but Ashley produced her ”Subordinate Card” from the Sky Patrol Department, which was linked to Su Yuan’s information, making it easy to verify.

Latterly, there was indeed an instance of encountering a Grey Realm Star Beast attack when going out. Ashley managed to control the Star Beast effortlessly until the City Guard came to resolve it.

Simple-minded Father Su and Mother Su had no further doubts and let Ashley live with them.

Thus, months passed, leading to the present scene.

Tang Shiyang said, ”Brother Yang, try this potato strips that Little Ai made.”

”Oh? Is it?” Su Yang picked up a portion with chopsticks and chewed a couple of times, ”Mmm... not bad!”𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

While talking, Su Yang picked up another large portion.

”Very tasty, Little Ai’s potato strips are almost on par with yours, wife.”

Su Yang nodded repeatedly and gave a thumbs-up.

Ashley said, ”Thank you, Uncle.”

Tang Shiyang appraised Ashley, smiling, ”It’s her first time making it, really a smart and attentive girl.”

Just as Ashley was about to express her thanks again, she suddenly sensed something, and looked toward the door.

Tang Shiyang asked, puzzled, ”What’s up, Little Ai?”

Ashley didn’t say more. Soon, footsteps echoed in the hallway.

Tang Shiyang remarked, puzzled, ”At this hour, could someone be looking for us?”

The footsteps grew closer, and Ashley stood up, walked to the door, and opened it.

Seeing the silver-haired young man at the door, Ashley slightly bowed and said, ”Welcome home, Boss.”

”Thank you for your hard work, Ashley,” Su Yuan said with a smile.
