Supreme Star Card Master

Chapter 464: Chapter 386: Barrier Master Task Chapter 464: Chapter 386: Barrier Master Task “Are so many tasks really requiring a Second-level Special Envoy or higher? And quite a few also have specific Imperial Guardian requirements?”

Last time, he didn’t look closely. But now, Su Yuan frowned slightly upon seeing this.

The tasks distributed to Third Level Star Envoys were basically all worth three hundred battle merits and were one-star tasks.

No wonder most new Special Envoys were so enthusiastic about doing tasks. Someone like him, who had been idle for several months upon joining the Sky Patrol Department, was indeed quite an outlier.

“Considering this, accumulating battle merits through ordinary ‘Third-level Special Envoy’ means doesn’t seem too ideal. In that case, let’s look at the ‘Barrier Master’ path!”

After a brief moment of thought, Su Yuan walked forward.

The Task Hall had three Special Envoys on duty since it was quite busy.

Su Yuan approached a middle-aged man with slightly yellowish skin, saying, “Hello, I’d like to see the recent task records.”

This man’s name was Huang Ting. Seemingly busy cross-checking something, he pointed casually to a bookshelf beside him, saying, “The third column on the left contains the records for the last three months. Remember to put them back after you’re done.”

“Thank you.”

Su Yuan thanked him and quickly took out the records to browse.

“In the past three months, there were sixteen tasks requiring Barrier Masters, five of which needed Barrier Masters of Master Quality.

Even the one-star tasks had battle merit rewards much higher than those of ordinary Special Envoys.

One-star tasks offered two to three hundred more battle merits, while two-star tasks could give several hundred more.”

As he looked at one of the two-star tasks, he noted it required using a barrier to quell the destructive energy left behind by a violent energy disturbance in a dangerous zone. This task offered a direct reward of one thousand four hundred battle merits!

After browsing, Su Yuan nodded slightly to himself, having a rough idea in mind.

At this moment, Huang Ting had finished his verification and, seeing Su Yuan still browsing, asked, “Is there anything you need help with?”

Closing the record book and putting it back, Su Yuan said, “I’d like to register for task standby.”

Task standby meant being in the “waiting for tasks” status.

When the Sky Patrol Department allocated tasks or other Inner Envoys needed teammates to complete a task, they would give priority to searching the “task standby” list.

The yellow-faced man responded, “First time registering? Just need to do a quick sign-up.”

Su Yuan nodded, and after swiping his card on a nearby machine, his identity and related information were automatically recorded.

In the “specialty” column, Su Yuan filled in “Fourth-level Barrier Master.”

In the “task preference” column, Su Yuan filled in “Two-star and above tasks.”

“All set,” Su Yuan said.

“Third-level Special Envoy, huh…” Huang Ting glanced briefly, confirming the input before nodding. “If there are tasks, you’ll be notified through the black card.”

“Okay.”

Su Yuan acknowledged and then prepared to leave.

But at this moment, a group of people walked in from outside. One of them turned out to be an acquaintance.

It was Xiong Chunyang, who had gone to the Azure Dragon Imperial!

“Hey, long time no see, Su Yuan!” Upon seeing Su Yuan, Xiong Chunyang immediately walked over in surprise.

Su Yuan smiled, “It’s been a few months.”

“Is this Su Yuan?”

The two Vermilion Bird Imperial Special Envoys who were previously chatting about Xia Xuan and Su Yuan also looked over.

Realizing their discussions had reached the ears of the person in question, these two felt a bit embarrassed.

Xiong Chunyang grinned, “Haven’t heard from you during this time, what have you been up to?”

“Been busy with some cultivation matters.”

Xiong Chunyang widened his eyes, “Just entered the Sky Patrol Department, and you’re already focusing on cultivation? Hurry up and do some tasks. Us old Xiongs might get promoted to Second-level Special Envoy after a few more tasks!”

“So soon to Second-level?”

Su Yuan was a bit surprised. Even though Xiong Chunyang wasn’t weak, becoming a Second-level Special Envoy required 5000 battle merits. This guy must be diligent.

“Chunyang, acquaintance of yours?” The burly bearded man leading the other three people with Xiong Chunyang walked over.

Upon seeing the bearded man approaching, even Huang Ting on the side greeted proactively, “Special Envoy Xue.”

The bearded man nodded slightly and then looked at Su Yuan.

Xiong Chunyang introduced with a smile, “Hey! Old Xue, this is the one I mentioned before who got ‘Excellent’ in my entry task.”

“Oh? Really want to meet you then.” The bearded man grinned, introducing himself, “Azure Dragon Imperial Xue Hengjiang, Su Yuan, right? Chunyang has mentioned you often, saying you’re incredibly strong?”

The two others followed up with a smile, “This Xiong newbie just got here, but aside from Old Xue, he doesn’t listen to anyone else. He only admires one person, a Su Yuan from Vermilion Bird Imperial. We were really curious. It’s a pleasure to meet you today.”

Su Yuan responded politely. Turning his head to look at Xiong Chunyang, who was giving him a proud smirk as if saying, “I did a good job promoting you, didn’t I?”

Su Yuan felt quite helpless, not expecting such fame.

But it seemed Xiong Chunyang was doing well in the Azure Dragon Imperial?

Su Yuan knew Xiong Chunyang’s temperament. It would take someone to restrain him to avoid trouble…

Su Yuan’s gaze fell on Xue Hengjiang. Despite his aura being well-concealed, a slight perception revealed a powerful and fierce aura.

Xue Hengjiang, a First Level Special Envoy of the Azure Dragon Imperial…

Su Yuan’s expression shifted slightly as he remembered.

“Are you here for a task?” Xiong Chunyang asked.

“Yes, but there’s nothing suitable for now.”

Xiong Chunyang clicked his tongue, “Shame. We just got back after handling two gangs in the west. Planning to rest for a while. I’ll let you know if there’s a suitable task next time?”

“Sure.”

Su Yuan responded. After a few more exchanges, Xiong Chunyang and Xue Hengjiang’s group went to submit their tasks.

Su Yuan, after leaving the Task Hall, went to the Scripture Hall to borrow more advanced Array Path books to accumulate the knowledge required for becoming a Fifth-level Barrier Master. Afterward, he returned to Zhu Yuan to continue his studies…

That day, while deeply studying barriers, Su Yuan suddenly sensed something and took out his Sky Patrol Black Card to check.

“So soon for a task requiring a Barrier Master?”

Su Yuan was quite surprised. It had only been a few days since he registered for task standby.

[Task]

[Details: Traces of several Evil Card Masters detected in the west. They are quite strong, with one adept at creating Filth Barriers. Deploying a three-person team and one Barrier Master is urgently needed to handle them.]

[Difficulty: Two Stars]

“Accept?”

“Filth Barriers, huh? Quite suitable for me…”

Su Yuan smiled and accepted the task immediately.

This would be his first time confronting other Barrier Masters.

If he couldn’t see through the opponent’s barrier flaws, directly countering with a Spirit-Expelling Barrier was also an option.

The black card transmitted a notification: “Please head to the south gate promptly to join the team heading west.”

Su Yuan immediately got up and headed straight for the south gate…
