My Sister Insisted on Swapping Marriages, and I Became a Marchioness Instead

Chapter 179: Chapter 179: I Truly Suffer a Miserable Fate

Qin Yuan shoved Xiao Dong a bit.

Xiao Dong understood and said, ”The recipe my master originally gave is a family recipe, it’s been used for many years, and everyone says it’s good. My master said it can cure, so it can cure. If you don’t believe me, go inquire later. Isn’t our Renhe Hall reputed for our honesty in that area?”

Doctor Li sneered, ”What have you done privately to turn the young master of the Marquis Mansion into this? No need to mention anything else, just that young lady should have been better long ago. My prescription strengthens the root. As long as the Imperial Physician is not blind, the prescriptions given are all to nourish the foundation and remove damp toxins. Combined, how could it lead to convulsions?”

Nanny Zhao was greatly shocked, her eyes trembled violently, she couldn’t speak.

Doctor Li flicked his sleeve and said, ”Enough, enough, with you like this, I don’t need to treat anymore. Anyway, there are Sixth Imperial Doctor and Seventh Imperial Doctor.”

After speaking, he turned to leave.

Nanny Zhao: ”...”

Xiao Dong took two steps after Doctor Li, then turned back to Nanny Zhao with a sigh of regret, shaking his head, ”My master is benevolent as a doctor, he can’t bear seeing this, but you’ve messed things up, turning good people into this, my master also dares not to treat anymore, better go back and tell the Marquis, we don’t dare look at this courtyard anymore.”

After saying this, he turned back and walked away.

Doctor Li maintained a stern face throughout, without speaking, it seemed that Xiao Dong expressed exactly what Doctor Li thought.

Qin Yuan stifled a laugh, following behind them, the three of them were about to leave the courtyard, not looking back.

Nanny Zhao panicked and rushed like a gust of wind to the front of Doctor Li, blocking his way, ”thump” she kneeled and pleaded, ”We were just following Doctor Liu’s advice, taking the medicine according to his prescription. The young masters have been sick for several days, we don’t understand these things, just thought measles was so dangerous. Everyone knows Doctor Liu voluntarily entered the mansion to treat, it’s a noble act, isn’t it? You can’t blame us for this.”

Doctor Li snorted coldly.

Nanny Zhao continued to say some good words.

Xiao Dong said, ”Master, I see this nanny is quite pitiful too, if this child hadn’t met you today, he might have lost his life. Lives are at stake, let’s spare them for Marquis’ sake.”

Nanny Zhao said, ”Right, right, right. Doctor Li, please be kind, save people to the end, cure Qin’s illness please, we won’t dare listen to that Doctor Liu anymore. Lives are at stake, Doctor Li.”

Qin Yuan glanced at Xiao Dong.

Xiao Dong sighed and said, ”Can you guarantee, from now on to absolutely follow what my master says? Otherwise, if there’s loss of life due to mismanagement, my master can’t bear the responsibility.”

Nanny Zhao didn’t dare make decisions for Sixth Madam, but she dared for Aunt Huang.

Especially just now, before everyone’s eyes, Miss Qin’s life was saved by Doctor Li. At this time, if we switch back to Doctor Liu, Aunt Huang would surely cause chaos upon knowing.

Nanny Zhao immediately said, ”I can, I can guarantee, please Doctor Li prescribe medicine for Miss Qin before leaving. From today onwards, we’ll follow Doctor Li’s instructions.”

Xiao Dong said, ”Master, for the sake of your apprentice, agree please. This young lady isn’t even as old as your apprentice, it seems quite pitiful.”

Doctor Li then said coldly, ”Fine, for the sake of my apprentice, I’ll take this matter. Just that if you keep making your own decisions in the future, switching prescriptions between Sixth Imperial Doctor and Seventh Imperial Doctor, from now on don’t come to me again.”

Nanny Zhao hurriedly promised, ”Definitely, definitely, I guarantee, after returning I’ll also tell Madam and Aunt Huang.”

Doctor Li said indifferently, ”Stand up then, take me to prescribe medicine. That aunt must also be examined herself, lest excess evil in her body triggers other ailments, wouldn’t want the child to recover only for her to collapse first.”

Nanny Zhao was overjoyed, she hurriedly led them to the side room, sent for Aunt Huang, and had little maids prepared to assist. After busying with these, she hurried to the main room to see Sixth Lady Gu.

Sixth Lady Gu had already heard the commotion outside, once she saw Nanny Zhao enter, she asked, ”How do you see that doctor’s medical skill?”

Nanny Zhao replied, ”I observe he indeed has some skill. Miss Qin was stopped after a few needles from him. I don’t understand the rest, but these convulsions can be life-threatening for children. Only...”

Sixth Lady Gu said, ”Only what?”

”Doctor Li mentioned he had given prescriptions to our mansion earlier, said that taking them helps strengthen the root. Imperial Physician opened more to remove toxins, should’ve been better since long ago. Must agree to take his prescribed medicine from now on, can’t take those from Doctor Liu any longer.”

Back then, they listened to Doctor Liu’s words, discontinued the prescription Qin Yuan asked to be sent.

Sixth Lady Gu’s expression was somewhat grave.

Nanny Zhao said, ”Miss’s illness worsens by the day. According to him, measles isn’t difficult to treat. Unlike Doctor Liu, who said measles is deadly, extremely difficult to recover from, only doing everything possible while leaving the rest to fate. As I say, Doctor Liu is an Imperial Physician after all, if anything happens, Marquis can’t do much to him. But Doctor Li is just a doctor from Renhe Hall, if anything really goes wrong, the Marquis could demand his life.”

Implying, lives are at stake, Doctor Li likely wouldn’t boast at such times.

Sixth Lady Gu sighed, ”Let’s do as you say. That Doctor Liu also self-reported being sick, perhaps he’s also dodging responsibility, considering the Marquis invited Doctor Li. Right now I’m troubled with issues myself, best not to defy the Marquis.”

Nanny Zhao lamented, ”Master, it’s not your fault Miss Zhenzhen went missing, they all blamed you, which is somewhat overboard. They never showed so much care for Miss Zhenzhen before, now an incident occurs and instead of urgently searching, making a fuss, what’s the point? Sixth Master is most irritated by this, otherwise wouldn’t prevent any messages being brought in to inquire.”

Sixth Lady Gu’s tears fell drop by drop, she said, ”Indeed, isn’t that right? He’s out doing something wet or dry, never put me or the children in his heart. Even if he resents me, does he deserve not to worry about the children?”

Nanny Zhao regretted saying anything to make her cry, quickly said, ”Sixth Master is just that kind of personality, it’s been so many years, if he dwelled on it, wouldn’t he worry himself to death? After all, he’s a man, how could he know to care for the children? See, he hopes for the children’s well-being too, otherwise wouldn’t quietly stay outside, not even meeting Aunt Zheng, scared to offend the Measles Goddess.”

Sixth Lady Gu took a handkerchief to wipe her tears and said, ”Oh, I truly am unfortunate, husband isn’t promising, native family isn’t promising, brought Zhenzhen here to find a good marriage, now she’s gone missing, what’s this about? Sixth Master always opposed my meddling, now it’s all gone wrong, the native family blames me, Sixth Master blames me, likely Old Madam and Marquis might resent me too. Third sister-in-law is still young, managing the Marquis Mansion steadily...”
