The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne

Time continued to pass, and the party was starting to show signs of coming to an end.

On the right side of the hall, Cassian spoke casually and gently with his supporters in the battle for the throne.

However, deep down, he was confused by what was happening.

’Demon Emperor Zerathos, what is actually going on? Why hasn’t anything happened yet? Is the potion you gave me fake?’ Cassian asked in a heavy voice.

He had been waiting patiently for more than half an hour, yet nothing had happened to Elina.

Inevitably, he began to think there was something wrong with the potion Zerathos had given him.

”No, that’s impossible. I am one hundred percent sure that what I gave you was pure demonic energy. Anyone who drank even a single drop—even a Celestial Mage—would definitely turn into a demon,” Zerathos explained in a cold voice.

What he gave Cassian was indeed his pure demonic energy, and there was no way he was mistaken.

’Then why hasn’t Elina turned into a demon? Why is she still relaxed and acting normal?’ Cassian’s voice trembled with hatred.

If this plan failed too, he didn’t know how else to get rid of Elina—his biggest obstacle in this battle for the throne.

”I don’t know either. Maybe the Singularity of Chaos left behind a magic item or something that protects her,” Zerathos said hesitantly.

’The Singularity of Chaos?’ Cassian gasped in surprise.

He hadn’t considered that possibility. Come to think of it, it made the most sense and explained why Elina didn’t react to the wine that had been infused with Zerathos’ pure demonic energy.

’Damn... Is the plan really failing like this? I’m not willing to accept that,’ he complained reluctantly.

He had to make Elina look like a criminal in front of everyone and destroy her so she could never rise again.

”Don’t worry, I still have another plan. If we can’t turn your sister into a demon, then let’s turn everyone in this hall into demons,” Zerathos said with a cold smile.

’Turn everyone into demons?’ Cassian’s heart pounded.

That was a very serious crime. If he were caught, he would undoubtedly be sentenced to death. No—death would be far too light.

He would be tortured mercilessly by his father and humiliated in front of the entire Great Velmora Empire.

Forget about becoming emperor—he wouldn’t even survive.

He would be branded a traitor to the empire and to humanity itself.

Sensing his hesitation, Zerathos didn’t give up and continued to persuade him.

”Why are you silent? Don’t you want your sister to die? Don’t you want to become emperor? This is the quickest way. Once the guests turn into demons, they will kill each other. After that, members of the Underworld Gate will appear and worsen the chaos. Then you can blame Elina for everything. How about it? Isn’t that a good plan?”

His voice buzzed in Cassian’s ears like a seductive whisper that seeped into his heart and soul.

Cassian was stunned, swallowing hard as he imagined the chaos.

Elina would be seen as the culprit, punished by their father, and humiliated before everyone.

When that happened, his biggest obstacle to becoming emperor would disappear completely.

”Congratulations, Prince Cassian, you have become emperor!”

”Hahaha! I was right to choose you, Prince Cassian! You are the winner! I hope the Great Velmora Empire rises to become even stronger!”

”Long live His Majesty Emperor Cassian!”

”Long live His Majesty Emperor Cassian!”

The scene in front of him instantly shifted to the palace square.

But unlike usual, this time he stood on the stage wearing the golden robe and crown his father once wore.

Before him stood the nobles who had supported him in the battle for the throne, along with millions of imperial citizens cheering for him.

”Long live Emperor Cassian! Long live Emperor Cassian!”

”Long live Emperor Cassian! Long live Emperor Cassian!”

Their voices echoed across the entire palace square.

For the first time, Cassian felt the joy of being praised by the people.

’So this is what it feels like to be emperor? To be adored by the people?’ Cassian muttered as he pressed his hand against his chest, which was beating rapidly.

It felt as if the blood inside him was boiling with happiness.

”Yes. This is what it feels like to be a ruler. Do you like it?” Zerathos’ voice came from beside him.

Cassian turned and saw a handsome man with a stern, cold face standing with his arm around his shoulder.

He had a tall body, short red hair, and eyes as sharp as a sword blade that had been sharpened for thousands of years.

Cassian turned back to the people who were cheering and shouting enthusiastically, then muttered softly, ”Yes, I like it. Will they be like this when I really become emperor?”

”Of course.” Zerathos smiled slightly. ”But this is only a small part of it. Later, you will see something far more spectacular—where thousands of living creatures will call your name. They will remember you as a hero and a savior.”

With that, Zerathos waved his right hand. Instantly, the nobles and citizens in the square vanished, replaced by millions of living creatures from various races.

There were humans, demons, elves, dragons, and many others. They all bowed their heads toward Cassian with deep respect.

”Congratulations on your ascension as ruler of this world, Emperor Cassian. May you have a long life!”

”May you have a long life!”

Their voices shook as if they had reached the ends of the world.

”How was that view? Did you like it?” Zerathos glanced at him with a playful look.

Cassian couldn’t help but smile broadly as he nodded again and again.

”Yes, I like it! I really like it! Hahaha! Is this what it feels like to be emperor? This is so cool!”

This time, he no longer held back his excitement. His ambition to become emperor surged dramatically.

He had to get the throne, no matter what.

Zerathos chuckled softly and brought his lips close to his ear.

”Unfortunately, that dream will be difficult to achieve. That’s because of your sister, Elina Lorian, and your other siblings in the battle for the throne. If you continue to reject my previous offer, then your wish will never come true.”

Cassian’s expression hardened. Zerathos’ offer was to turn everyone into demons and unleash great chaos with the help of the Underworld Gate members.

His conscience told him not to do it. It would only drag him into the abyss of darkness.

However, the praise still echoing in his ears reminded him that he had no chance of winning the throne battle against his siblings.

His conscience was quickly overshadowed by ambition and the dark desire to achieve his dream of becoming emperor.

With a cold, indifferent expression, he gave a faint smirk and replied firmly, ”Do it... Let’s turn them all into demons and bring great chaos to the imperial palace!”
