After signing with AC Milan, I will be the king of football!

After the meal,

Huang Kaiwen dialed Capello’s number.

When he heard that Huang Kaiwen was going to take a few days off to go to America, Capello excitedly persuaded him on the phone, ”Kevin, you should really relax and unwind, there’s no need to rush back. We currently have a substantial leading advantage, so don’t worry about the upcoming La Coruña and Valencia matches.

Huang Kaiwen: ...

They don’t want him, Huang, to take part in such important matches?

This was Capello’s way of reminding him to stay true to his roots!

What else could Huang Kaiwen say in such a situation?

He decided not to hurry back and would play whichever matches he could make upon his return.

”Okay, Coach.”

Ramos came over at noon, and several of them set off together.

Because he had assisted the police in capturing criminals the last time,

Ramos would be awarded by the police with a Distinguished Contribution Award.

It just so happened to be scheduled on the same day, and Ramos didn’t mind sharing the spotlight with Huang Kaiwen.

The reason he was getting this award was mainly because Ramos himself was quite outstanding; the young lady had only provided a little help. This award was usually given to those with significant social influence.

”Let’s go.”

In the afternoon, a little after one, Huang Kaiwen stood up and said,

Having experienced two award ceremonies in Italy, the Yellow Ball King was well accustomed to the process.

He wasn’t nervous at all.

In fact, receiving awards wasn’t much different from winning a trophy, except there weren’t as many fans.

A few of them drove to the Zarzuela Palace in the northwest suburbs of Madrid.

This palace originated as a hunting lodge in the 17th century built by Philip IV, designed by the royal architects Gomez de Mora and Capone, and was a representative work of the early Baroque style, with Italian-style courtyards.

Zarzuela is thought to come from the word ”zarza,” meaning bramble, indicating its location in the thorny thickets of the King’s hunting grounds.

Later, it was damaged during the Spanish Civil War, and in the 50s, the reconstruction was led by Diego Mendes.

Za Palace couldn’t quite compare to the Quirinal Palace in Italy which they had visited before; it was just a big house, lacking the classical essence of the Quirinal Palace.

Once inside,

most decorations were modern, and the carpets were generally French in style.

”Do you like it?”

The young lady turned to ask.

”It feels pretty average.”

Huang Kaiwen replied.

Ramos, who was following half a step behind, nodded in agreement, as he didn’t like this style of decoration either.

When they reached the reception room, Huang Kaiwen met with the royal family.

”Welcome.”

Juan Carlos I warmly said.

”Hello,”

Huang Kaiwen nodded in reply, then also greeted the Queen.

Lastly, he was introduced to Prince Philip and his wife.

After the royal butler in a black suit with a white shirt arranged the seating, he told Huang Kaiwen and Ramos, ”The award ceremony will be held in the conference room shortly, with photos being taken by reporters, followed by a group photo at the main entrance of the palace. There won’t be speeches today, but there will be interviews with you both, as you have already been notified. If you’re not prepared, I can provide a draft. The royal family will also publish a speech in the newspapers later.”

Huang Kaiwen nodded; the process was similar to what he had heard before.

He said, ”I don’t need the draft.”

”I’m prepared as well,”

Ramos added.

After the royal butler left, Ramos took out a crumpled paper from his pocket and showed it to Huang Kaiwen, nervously asking, ”Kevin, do you think this will be okay?”

Seeing the paper covered with various thank-yous to parents, family, and friends, Huang Kaiwen knew Ramos was too nervous.

Huang Kaiwen took out a fountain pen and notebook from his pocket and began to write.

”For this type of event, you just need to express that you will continue to work hard and become a role model professional player, so the kids watching will see a good example; you don’t need to say so much.”

After writing it out, Huang Kaiwen handed it to Ramos and said, ”Just three sentences, something like that should be good enough.”

”Okay, Kevin!”

Ramos nodded in agreement.

No wonder Kevin wasn’t nervous at all.

After Barbara and Juan Carlos I had finished their cordial conversation, the group headed to the conference room, where they also encountered José Zapatero, the Prime Minister of Spain, and the head of the police department, Ignacio Cosidó.

The journalists had already been waiting on the side, adjusting their equipment to record the moment.

At 3 p.m., Ramos received his certificate from Ignacio Cosidó, who shook hands with Ramos, saying, ”Thank you for your support of the police force; we hope you can always be our strong backbone.”

”I, I will!”

Ramos nodded vigorously.

He still couldn’t avoid being nervous on such occasions,

and his smile appeared very stiff.

Then Huang Kaiwen, José Zapatero, and Juan Carlos I shook hands in turn.

Zapatero said, ”Thank you for everything you’ve brought. You’ve made Madrid the center of Europe; the combination of Kevin and Real Madrid has brought a lot of benefits to Spain, especially in boosting tourism.”

”In gratitude for your contribution to Spain, we’ve decided after discussion to award you the Charles III Grand Cross and the Isabella the Catholic Commander’s Cross,”

Juan Carlos announced as he helped Huang Kaiwen don the medals.

The moment of the handshake was captured by the photographers.

Before coming, Huang Kaiwen had learned about the various Spanish medals.

Spain has a lot more variety of medals compared to Italy, including the Charles III Medal and the Isabella the Catholic Medal, which don’t differentiate between contributions; there are also various medals for forestry, police service, science, environment, judiciary, information technology, postal services, public service, and specifically for outstanding women... there are many in total.
