Chapter 2088: Chapter 2087: Alchemy of the Thunder Tribulation Pill

The primary ingredient for the Thunder Tribulation Pill is the Thunder Tribulation Wood.

Previously, when Lin Dong first arrived in Southborne, he acquired the Thunder Tribulation Wood, but he hadn’t started refining it until now.

Now, he is ready to refine it.

As for the auxiliary medicines, Lin Dong has already prepared them all.

”This piece of Thunder Tribulation Wood can support at least hundreds of refinements for me.”

”And for the other auxiliary medicines, I have also prepared enough.”

Since this is the first time refining a fifth-grade elixir, Lin Dong cannot guarantee success on the first try.

He has even prepared for dozens of failures!

After studying the prescription, he prepared all the herbs.

Then, he took out the Five-colored Furnace and began the alchemy.

Placing the Five-colored Furnace in the middle of the Spirit Cave, Lin Dong raised the alchemist fire, controlling its temperature to thirty-five hundred degrees.

Then, using the alchemist fire, he fused the Thunder Tribulation Wood and auxiliary medicines.

The Thunder Tribulation Wood is incredibly solid, only a flame of thirty-five hundred degrees can melt it.

Soon, a part of the Thunder Tribulation Wood fused with more than fifty auxiliary ingredients.

However, when Lin Dong was fusing the sixty-second herb, a small problem arose.

The heat was off by one degree, leading to a fusion failure.

”Boom!!” After the failure, all those herbs turned to ashes.

Lin Dong felt a pang of heartache; refining with Thunder Tribulation Wood means one less chance each time.

”Don’t be discouraged, this is a fifth-grade elixir. How could you succeed on the first try for a fifth-grade elixir?”

”Even at the level of the Alchemy King, refining a fifth-grade elixir would fail many times.” The thoughts of Little Five reached Lin Dong’s mind.

Lin Dong couldn’t help but ask it, ”Can’t you let the failed Thunder Tribulation Wood regenerate, just like when the medicine can regenerate?”

Lin Dong felt truly pained; if the auxiliary medicine was destroyed, so be it, but the Thunder Tribulation Wood, such a primary ingredient, was too precious.

If too many failures lead to running out of Thunder Tribulation Wood, it would be disastrous.

Little Five responded:

”Master, how could there be something so against the heavens!”

”My herb regeneration only works during the pill condensation failure, allowing the herbs to regenerate then.”

”If you fail during the herb fusion stage, those herbs will turn to ashes. No matter how powerful the regeneration ability of the Five-colored Furnace, it can’t regenerate herbs turned to ashes.”

Hearing this, Lin Dong understood.

The ’herb regeneration’ ability of the Five-colored Furnace only works when the pill condensation process fails.

And now, he’s just at the first step.

Controlling the alchemist fire’s heat to fuse the herbs.

In this step, the Five-colored Furnace cannot regenerate the herbs.

Lin Dong sighed and decided to be more careful.

Next, Lin Dong began his second attempt.

Refining a fifth-grade elixir requires the fusion of an overwhelming number of herbs.

The primary ingredient is the Thunder Tribulation Wood, but there are more than five hundred auxiliary medicines.

Fusing more than five hundred herbs into the primary ingredient to turn it into a ’material pill’ is an incredibly challenging task.

Even a slight mistake during the fusion process will result in failure!

These errors include controlling the heat.

They include the timing of herb fusion.

They include the proportions and amounts of the herbs.

They are all accurate to the micrometer!

In his second fusion attempt, Lin Dong fused the auxiliary medicines up to the one hundred and twentieth time.

However, during the second attempt, he still failed!

He failed because the heat was off by 0.1 degree, causing the herb fusion to fail.

”Boom~~” The underdeveloped ’material pill’ turned to ashes again.

”What’s most important is mastering the control of the heat,” Lin Dong thought to himself.

For now, he’s still some distance away from mastering fifth-grade pill alchemy, so it’s easy to make mistakes when fusing hundreds of herbs.

”Perhaps I can use my mental power, concentrating my mind to better control the heat,” Lin Dong thought.

For the third time, Lin Dong attempted the fusion again.

However, this time, he used his mental power.

He concentrated his mental power to its peak, then released the alchemist fire, controlling it with a focused mind.

”Indeed, this way, my control of the fire has become even more refined.”

After realizing this, Lin Dong continued his attempts.

This time, he fused more than three hundred auxiliary medicines into the Thunder Tribulation Wood at once.

During this process, there was no error in controlling the heat.

”How fast is his progress? Truly a top genius in alchemy.” The spirit of the Five-colored Furnace, ’Little Five,’ witnessed Lin Dong’s progress firsthand.

Even it, a spirit of a middle-grade alchemy furnace, was amazed by Lin Dong’s refining talent.

This shows just how outstanding Lin Dong’s progress is!

Even so, during Lin Dong’s third attempt at herb fusion, he still failed.

This time, it wasn’t the heat control that led to failure.

It was a slight error in the proportion while fusing the three hundred and fifty-sixth auxiliary medicine.

Such an error, precise to the micrometer, caused everything he had achieved to be rendered futile.

”Boom!”

Once again, the herbs turned into ashes.

However, Lin Dong wasn’t as heartbroken as before.

He had already seen hope.

And he wasn’t discouraged.

”Continue!”

Lin Dong continued with the first major step of refining the Thunder Tribulation Pill.

He began his fourth attempt at herb fusion!

On the fourth try, he fused 401 auxiliary medicines.

On the fifth try, he fused 430 auxiliary medicines.

On the sixth try, he fused 445 auxiliary medicines.

The closer he got to the end, the harder it was to fuse them.

The herbs were extremely resistant to each other, and a small oversight could lead to failure.

In this way, when Lin Dong attempted for the twenty-eighth time, he finally fused 500 auxiliary medicines together!

On the twenty-ninth try, Lin Dong continued to attempt.

This time, he finally succeeded.

He fused all the auxiliary medicines into the Thunder Tribulation Wood.

After the fusion with Lin Dong’s alchemist fire, they formed a ’material pill.’

The so-called material pill is merely a pill prototype formed by the fusion of herbs.

This means that Lin Dong has successfully completed the first major step.

Next, he would begin the second major step.

The actual alchemy!

This process requires the material pill to be placed into the Five-colored Furnace. Lin Dong would then use the alchemist fire to refine it from outside the furnace.

Using the flame to slowly solidify the ’material pill.’

Let it become a real elixir!

This process would take a considerable amount of time.

A fifth-grade elixir takes at least three days and nights to condense and form!

For a seventh-grade elixir to be successfully refined, it takes forty-nine days and nights!

”From here, things will be easier. Even if the alchemy fails, I can regenerate the Thunder Tribulation Pill inside. It won’t consume your primary ingredient.” That tender voice of the spirit of the Five-colored Furnace echoed in Lin Dong’s mind once again.

Lin Dong nodded and then began the second step, ’Pill Condensation.’

He placed the ’material pill’ inside the Five-colored Furnace, then covered it with the furnace’s lid.

Afterwards, Lin Dong condensed the alchemist fire and began the pill condensation process through the Five-colored Furnace.
