Chapter 1829: Chapter 1828: Three Things Brought by Hong Lian

For Lin Dong at this moment, the best course of action is to keep a low profile.

Avoid drawing attention, secretly collect Heavenly and Earthly treasures, and quietly improve his strength—this is what he should focus on.

Of course, the most important reason for him coming to Southborne is to obtain that ’Medicine King.’

As long as he can secure the Medicine King, Lin Dong will have a great opportunity to aim for the legendary ’Ten-stage Grandmaster.’

The emergence of the Medicine King will still take some time, and for now, all Lin Dong can do is remain hidden and patient.

As for the engagement banquet, there’s nothing he can do to change it now.

At this point, he can only take things one step at a time.

After finishing dinner, Lin Dong prepared to return to his room to rest.

Just then, Huang Fei came in and said, ”Miss, Young Master Lin, the Alliance Hierarch has sent Lady Hong Lian over; she is currently at the door.”

”Oh? Let her in,” Qin Yitian replied.

Qin Yitian knew that Hong Lian was her brother’s most trusted close aide, someone who had followed him since their days in the Qin family.

Even Qin Yitian herself held great respect for Hong Lian.

Typically, Hong Lian coming to Xiaoxiang Garden meant she was relaying some message from her brother.

Very soon, Hong Lian walked in and cupped her hands respectfully toward Lin Dong and Qin Yitian:

”Miss, Young Master Lin.”

Unexpectedly, she had now started addressing Lin Dong as ”Young Master Lin.”

Qin Yitian felt both amused and exasperated and asked, ”Sister Hong Lian, is there something we can help with?”

Hong Lian nodded and said, ”The Young Master asked me to come, mostly for a few matters to discuss with Miss and Young Master Lin.”

”The first matter: The Young Master wants Miss and Young Master Lin to properly prepare for the engagement banquet happening after three days. Miss, please make sure to coordinate with Young Master Lin on purchasing attire for the engagement and some jewelry to go along with it.”

”The Young Master mentioned that, following our Dragon Country traditions, all the required items must be included—gold, wedding candies, fresh flowers, couple’s watches, scissors, and so on. Even though we’re overseas, we must uphold the ancestral engagement customs.”

”Furthermore, all these items will need to be personally chosen and finalized by Miss and Young Master Lin within these three days. After all, these items you wear later should match your preferences.”

”As for the banquet and invitations, you don’t need to worry. The Young Master will arrange people to handle those.”

Hong Lian spoke at length with Lin Dong and Qin Yitian, mostly about the engagement details. While engagement may not be as significant as marriage, it still required the proper rituals and protocols.

According to Qin Feng, their veins carried Dragon Country’s bloodline. Even overseas, engagements and weddings must align with the ancestral customs passed down from Dragon Country.

There was no compromising with Western practices for either engagement or actual weddings!

After hearing all of this, Qin Yitian nodded: ”Alright, Sister Hong Lian, I understand.”

After covering this matter, Hong Lian moved on to the second topic:

”The second concern is that tomorrow the Alliance Hierarch will hold an Alchemy Medicine Conference to discuss some matters. The Alliance Hierarch said that Young Master Lin should attend to broaden his horizons and meet the eighteen elders of the Dan Alliance!”

”The Alliance Hierarch also mentioned that once the Alchemy Medicine Conference concludes, he has a surprise prepared for Young Master Lin.”

Upon hearing this, before Lin Dong could say anything, Qin Yitian interjected with curiosity: ”What kind of surprise?”

Hong Lian smiled softly and didn’t reveal anything further.

”Miss, Young Master Lin, surprises are called surprises for a reason—they can’t be disclosed right away. After the conference concludes tomorrow, Young Master Lin will naturally find out.”

”Alright then.” Qin Yitian closed her mouth, refraining from asking any more questions.

Hong Lian continued, ”Now onto the third matter—the Alliance Hierarch specifically instructed me to remind Young Master Lin to complete the task he was previously entrusted with tonight.”

”As for the specific nature of this task, the Alliance Hierarch mentioned that Young Master Lin knows it very clearly in his heart.”

Upon hearing this, Lin Dong’s expression stiffened.

Of course he knew—he was more than aware of what the Alliance Hierarch Qin Feng had tasked him with.

The request was for him to make sure Qin Yitian gets pregnant as soon as possible.

Lin Dong was utterly at a loss. Was it really necessary to send Hong Lian over specifically to rush him on this matter?

Qin Yitian was equally aware; Lin Dong had already privately disclosed that request to her.

So when she heard Hong Lian’s words now, they immediately registered with her.

”It turns out the private chats between my brother and Dong Lin really did pertain to that matter... I can’t believe my brother. He wants our bloodline to flourish, but can’t he create children himself? He’s not rushing about that, yet he’s so intent on pressuring me instead.” Qin Yitian silently griped to herself.

Hong Lian followed up, ”Young Master Lin, did you hear what I said?”

Lin Dong could only respond perfunctorily, ”Understood, Sister Hong Lian. Please tell the Alliance Hierarch that I assure you the task will be completed tonight.”

Upon hearing this, Hong Lian giggled: ”How will you guarantee that? Isn’t it true that you’re still staying in a separate room and not sharing one with Miss yet?”

”I’ll move in tonight.” Lin Dong replied helplessly, unable to say anything else.

Hong Lian then turned to Huang Fei and said, ”Huang Fei, hurry and relocate Young Master Lin’s belongings into Miss’s room. From now on, Young Master Lin and Miss will share a room.”

Huang Fei, already loyal to Hong Lian, promptly responded, ”Understood.”

She then swiftly began packing and moving Lin Dong’s belongings.

Lin Dong: ”...”

Crazy, isn’t it?

Could it be that Qin Feng sent Hong Lian to keep tabs on me and Qin Yitian, ensuring we consummate the marriage and start producing children?

If that’s the case, then things are about to get complicated.

Lin Dong had no intention of truly turning acting into reality.

Qin Yitian also entertained the same train of thought, and her heart sank into a chill.

Judging by Hong Lian’s refusal to leave and her deliberate arrangement for Huang Fei to move Lin Dong’s belongings into her room, could it be that she sincerely plans to supervise them having children?

Qin Yitian was momentarily dumbfounded.

Huang Fei quickly packed and moved Lin Dong’s belongings into Qin Yitian’s room.

Hong Lian grinned and said, ”Alright then, I’ll be going now. I wish Young Master Lin and Miss a memorable evening tonight.”

After finishing, she gave Huang Fei a meaningful glance before departing the scene.

As soon as she left, both Qin Yitian and Lin Dong let out a sigh of relief.

They had genuinely feared Hong Lian might stay behind to directly oversee their consummation plans.

If that were to happen, things would’ve become impossibly awkward.

Now that she had indeed left, the two could breathe a little easier.

”Looks like Qin Feng, though in a rush, wouldn’t really go as far as sending Hong Lian to monitor us to ensure we have children.” Lin Dong thought to himself.

But while Hong Lian had departed and temporarily alleviated their stress, a lingering tension remained.

After all, Hong Lian hadn’t entirely left without backup; she still had her spies.

Huang Fei was Hong Lian’s apprentice, and before leaving, Hong Lian deliberately signaled her with a knowing glance. Clearly, this was an instruction to keep her eye on them.

Thus, Lin Dong and Qin Yitian would have no choice but to sleep in the same room tonight—and likely every night after tonight.

If they decided to sleep separately, the news would surely travel back to Hong Lian and Qin Feng.

Once that happened, Qin Feng would quickly realize that Lin Dong had been stringing him along and hadn’t heeded his private instructions.

This would lead Qin Feng to perceive Lin Dong as duplicitous and unreliable, which could put Lin Dong in danger.

Both Lin Dong and Qin Yitian were fully cognizant of this fact. When they exchanged glances, they could see the awkwardness in each other’s eyes.

Tonight, they would have to share a room...
