Chapter 1730: Chapter 1729: Reality and Dream

At this moment, Lin Dong was pulled by Qiao Bing to try on wedding dresses with Qiao Xue.

When Lin Dong and Qiao Bing arrived at the largest bridal shop in the Capital City, they saw Qiao Xue waiting for them at the door.

It had been a long time since Qiao Xue had seen Lin Dong. Seeing him now, she couldn’t help but ask:

”Lin Dong, where have you been lately? Do you know that my younger sister was almost killed by someone?”

”Some time ago, an assassin came to take revenge on my sister because of you. Fortunately, your brother protected us, otherwise, both my sister and I would have been killed because of you.”

Lin Dong once again heard about this incident from Qiao Xue and felt somewhat guilty.

He had not expected that Qingye Death God would spare no expense in seeking revenge.

Qiao Bing laughingly said, ”Sister, it’s all in the past, let’s not talk about it anymore.”

Seeing this, Qiao Xue shook her head and sighed, ”You’re always covering for him.”

Continuing, she looked at Lin Dong with some confusion and asked, ”Lin Dong, my sister told me that you’re also the War God of the War department?”

”The War God of the War department can’t even protect my sister’s safety? What kind of War God are you!”

Lin Dong gave a bitter smile and remained silent, quietly enduring Qiao Xue’s scolding.

If it had been before, Lin Dong and Qiao Xue might have started arguing. But now, he had no such inclination.

Qiao Xue noticed that Lin Dong seemed different from before; whatever she used to say, he would argue with her.

The two always had endless arguments, but now, Lin Dong was silent and did not speak, which made Qiao Xue somewhat unable to continue.

Although she had a belly full of complaints, she now couldn’t utter a single word.

”Forget it, seeing that you know you were wrong, I can’t be bothered to scold you anymore. From now on, just properly protect my sister’s safety.” Qiao Xue said this.

Then, she led the two to the bridal shop.

Qiao Xue was selecting wedding dresses.

Trying on one after another, seeking her younger sister Qiao Bing’s opinion.

”Little Bing, what do you think about this one?” Qiao Xue asked, wearing a white wedding dress with a long train.

Qiao Bing shook her head and said, ”I prefer the traditional ’Phoenix crown and xiapei’ style.”

This store did indeed have a ’Phoenix crown and xiapei’ bridal outfit.

It was displayed aside, and among the many wedding dresses, it was not much favored by people.

Today, many people came here to try on wedding dresses, but few chose to try on that one.

The Phoenix crown and xiapei is traditionally worn by children of wealthy and noble families in ancient times when getting married.

The Phoenix crown is a ceremonial crown worn by noble women at weddings, named after its adornment with phoenixes.

Xiapei refers to a type of shawl worn by ancient women, exquisitely shaped and as dazzling as rosy clouds, also known as xia.

The Phoenix crown is mostly gold-colored, and traditional Chinese wedding dresses are mostly red, sparkling brilliantly and full of charm.

For a traditional woman like Qiao Bing, ’Phoenix crown and xiapei’ is her favorite wedding outfit.

At the moment, Qiao Xue also looked towards the ’Phoenix crown and xiapei,’ but she did not like it very much.

”Forget it, it feels a bit outdated. I’ll wear the white wedding dress instead.” Qiao Xue shook her head and did not take her younger sister’s advice.

Afterwards, she tried on a deep V-neck wedding dress then asked Qiao Bing, ”Little Bing, how about this one?”

Qiao Bing gave her a look, ”Sister, isn’t this one a bit too revealing?”

Qiao Xue, turning to Lin Dong, asked, ”Lin Dong, what do you think? How about this one?”

Lin Dong spread his hands, ”I’m not your fiancé, why does my opinion matter?”

”Just give me your thoughts. Tell me, how about it?” Qiao Xue hmphed and asked.

Lin Dong shook his head and said, ”My opinion is the same as Sister Bing’s, I also think the Phoenix crown and xiapei is the most beautiful.”

Hearing this, Qiao Xue rolled her eyes at both him and Qiao Bing then said, ”You two are younger than me, why are you so old-fashioned at such a young age?”

”When it comes to weddings, I really think the Western style is better. Whether it’s the white wedding dress, the white hall, or the mansion oath, I feel that the Western way is better. It feels more ceremonial!”

People choosing wedding dresses here likely share the same sentiment.

Because when they choose wedding dresses, they choose those spotless Western ones, and naturally, the wedding tends to follow the Western procedure as well.

Regarding this, Lin Dong said, ”In our Dragon Country, red is the color of celebration.”

”And white represents misfortune.”

”As for the sense of ceremony you mentioned, do our ancestors’ traditional Chinese weddings lack it?”

”Entering the bridal chamber after the traditional wedding ceremony, aren’t these ceremonial?”

”As for the vows you mentioned, if two people truly love each other, why would they care about sweet nothings in each other’s eyes? If they don’t love each other, then all those solemn vows are nothing but deceitful lies.”

Hearing Lin Dong’s words, Qiao Xue pouted and said: ”Forget it, I’m too lazy to ask you guys.”

She still wants that Western-style wedding.

A hall decorated like a mansion.

A white wedding dress.

A foreign priest to conduct her wedding ceremony.

She wants to take vows.

Not wearing a big red robe, kneeling to offer tea, worshipping the heaven and earth, entering the bridal chamber. She finds all that too old-fashioned.

Afterward, Qiao Xue tried on various wedding dresses herself.

Meanwhile, Lin Dong and Qiao Bing were intimately chatting next to her. Their mouths almost stuck together.

Trying on the high-waist wedding dress, Qiao Xue looked at them both with an uncomfortable feeling.

”Wow, you’re so beautiful!”

”This high-waist wedding dress suits you so perfectly.”

”Like a pure fairy from heaven.”

”...”

At the moment, Qiao Xue, who was wearing a white high-waist wedding dress, was surrounded by a crowd of onlookers.

The shop assistants even offered their compliments.

Other people trying on wedding dresses also showed expressions of amazement.

Although they are all women, they couldn’t help but envy the charm exuding from Qiao Xue.

Qiao Xue, hearing everyone’s compliments, couldn’t understand why she felt unhappy inside.

She suddenly remembered her upcoming wedding with Lin Tiance, and she wasn’t so happy about it either.

She thought of a dream she had a few days ago.

In the dream, she walked into the marriage hall by holding hands with the groom, walking over the red carpet, arriving next to the priest, and after taking vows, the groom put the wedding ring on her.

She looked up and discovered, to her astonishment, the groom was actually Lin Dong!

The priest asked, ”Bride, do you wish to marry him?”

In the dream, she actually responded to the priest and to the groom: ”I do!”

In that dream, she felt even happier than she did at the moment wearing the wedding dress.

”Miss, this wedding dress is really beautiful. Would you like this one?” the sales lady softly asked Qiao Xue.

Qiao Xue then came back to her complex thoughts.

She sneaked a look at Lin Dong and Qiao Bing, noticing that Qiao Bing was looking at her, while Lin Dong was looking at Qiao Bing.

In Qiao Bing’s eyes, there was her sister in a wedding dress, but in Lin Dong’s eyes, there was only Qiao Bing.

She donned the wedding dress, hoping for his dazzling glance, yet, he gave all his attention to her younger sister.
