Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 94: Finding People

If I were to represent the Bakery Club in this activity, I would need to go to the location where the academy organized it to pick up some materials.

After all, I wasn’t an omniscient deity.

How could I possibly know which corner or alley the freshmen needing help were hiding in?

So, the academy would compile all the information systematically.

This information included, but was not limited to, Curtain Wall entry and exit records, which were the most reliable and comprehensive data, showing which freshmen had arrived early based on their “one-way ticket” admission notices.

Other information would reveal which freshmen hadn’t registered, hadn’t received their student cards, phones, room cards, or awakened their talents; everything was clear at a glance.

As long as I found the person and confirmed their details, I could figure out which procedures they hadn’t completed.

So, the key issue was “finding people.”

As for how to find them, I’d probably have to go there tomorrow to find out.

According to Senior Tang Yihan’s explanation, it involved integrating the academy’s Earth Vein Energy for precise localization or something like that.

It sounded very high-tech.

Could the Earth Vein really do anything?

I had to admit, at that moment, I became quite interested in Earth Vein Energy and even considered going to the library to check out some introductory books on it.

Why introductory books instead of professional texts or journals?

Because after being discouraged by Tan Han’s comments about the meditation book I borrowed last time, I gained a deeper understanding of myself.

My comprehension level was probably best suited for introductory materials.

So, I had no intention of studying Earth Vein Energy in depth or diving into specialized texts or journals.

I just wanted to read some basic introductory books to learn about things that were accessible to me but still unknown.

After all, people naturally had a strong enthusiasm for the unknown, though it often stayed at a superficial level.

In the end, I took on this task for the Bakery Club.

Even Manager Xia Li came by today to check on me.

When she heard I was willing to help the club, she promptly took me to pick up a Magic Power Source and a spellbook.

Her decisiveness surprised me, even making me wonder if I’d stepped into a trap.

But trap or not, the spell Manager Xia Li gave me was a very practical defensive spell.

Combined with the solidified spell on my badge, I was now well-equipped for both offense and defense, practically combat-ready.

Plus, the Magic Power Source increased my mana limit a bit, making my magic usage much more comfortable.

After all, everything in the villa consumed mana, and the phone drained it too.

When I arrived at the location for the club’s volunteer activity, I got a rough idea of the situation.

Finding people was still up to us.

However, the academy would temporarily grant us access to a special function in the Academy System, allowing us to retrieve freshmen information and their locations.

It was clear that the seniors who came here weren’t too happy.

The enthusiasm for the activity was low, and I was probably the only one taking it seriously.

After registering at the Bakery Club, I found out my quota was just one person.

That number was beyond my expectations.

It seemed the number of freshmen needing help was much smaller than I had thought.

But it made sense.

How many freshmen could there be in one batch?

Besides, most of them hadn’t even arrived yet.

I also noticed that some clubs, arriving later, didn’t get assigned any mandatory quotas, meaning they could just slack off.

At that moment, I regretted coming so early.

Leaving the place, I looked at the new temporary permissions granted to me in the Academy System.

This was a special feature for activity location tracking.

Normally, we wouldn’t have access to something like this.

And the freshmen probably had nothing on them, right?

No trackers, maybe no academy-issued phones, or even student cards tied to the Earth Vein.

How were they being located?

This technology was almost too terrifying.

I looked up at the Curtain Wall in the sky.

Satellite tracking?

Probably not.

As expected, the transcendent world shouldn’t be imagined with ordinary thinking.

”Huh? Junior, are you a freshman? A freshman joining this activity? You didn’t get scammed by some shady club, did you?”

At that moment, a voice came from behind me, tinged with surprise.

The voice sounded somewhat familiar.

”Hm? Oh! Senior Deng, hello,” I turned around and quickly recognized her.

Wasn’t this Deng Xiaohan, the senior I met on the train when I arrived?

I only vaguely remembered her name because she introduced herself.

”Hm? Do you know me? Haha, am I already that famous among the freshmen?”

Deng Xiaohan was momentarily surprised but then laughed proudly, not caring at all that I was a complete stranger to her.

”Uh… something like that… haha…”

I gave an awkward laugh, nearly letting slip my own secret.

The fewer seniors who knew I was originally a guy, the better.

”So, Senior, are you here for this activity too?”

I asked tentatively.

I wasn’t sure how she recognized me as a freshman, especially since I already had two Magic Power Sources in me.

There shouldn’t be anything to give it away, right?

”Yeah, I lost at rock-paper-scissors, so I had to drag myself here. What about you? You’re a freshman, and they’re making you guide other freshmen? That’s outrageous,” Deng Xiaohan said indignantly.

With her overly familiar tone, anyone would think we were close friends.

”It’s fine. There are rewards, so it’s worth the trip. But Senior, you didn’t come just to chat, did you?”

”Haha, you’re making it sound so formal. You know me, so it’s fate. Let’s formally introduce ourselves. I’m Deng Xiaohan. Just call me Senior Deng. If you run into any trouble, come find me. Let’s add each other as friends,” Deng Xiaohan said, pulling out her phone with a smile.

Her swift actions caught me off guard.

”Alright.”

I went ahead and added her as a friend.

After all, more friends meant more opportunities, and for someone like me with few connections, a friendly senior like her was the easiest to bond with.

”Great, we’re friends now. If you ever run into trouble, come to me. But… hehe, uh…”

Deng Xiaohan spoke naturally after adding me, but her tone shifted quickly, as if she was about to ask for a favor.

”Senior, if you have something to say, just tell me…”

Seeing her hesitate, I knew she had something on her mind.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have approached just to make friends.

As expected, she probably wanted me to take on her quota for this activity.

”Could you, uh, handle my quota for me? Don’t worry, it’s just one person. If you help, I’ll owe you one, and next time I’ll treat you.”

”Senior, I’d love to help, but please understand, I’m a freshman too. I’m not exactly familiar with all these procedures…”

I quickly interrupted her, playing the sympathy card first.

”I… I wouldn’t let you do it for nothing, of course,” Deng Xiaohan hurriedly said, sensing that I might start pulling out some dramatic tactics next.

”Huh? Really? Our club leader promised me a Magic Power Source for completing my quota, and she even gave it to me in advance. I’m not asking for much from you, Senior, just a small gesture…”

I said with a surprised look, staring at Deng Xiaohan until she turned away, too embarrassed to meet my gaze.

At that point, I figured I’d pushed enough.

Making me work for free?

No way.

”Alright, alright! Fine, I’ll give you a Magic Power Source too,” Senior Deng said reluctantly, as if she couldn’t bear to hear any more.

As she gave in, I let out a subtle smile.

I didn’t know the market price of a Magic Power Source, but free stuff was always nice.

I hadn’t planned to stop after completing just one quota anyway.

Guiding freshmen as a freshman sounded pretty interesting to me, especially if I ran into someone like Quan Xiuzhu that’d be even more fun.
