Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

I scoffed. “Heh.”

Who did this guy think he was, throwing threats when he didn’t even know where I was?

Still, I was floored that they knew I was a born Psi-visioner. Did my family always know, or did Demonspawn tip them off? Either way, it didn’t matter much now.

What did matter was Demonspawn’s obsession with natural Psi-vision users. That caught me off guard.

“You don’t know? Hah, some clueless girl. Better ask your teachers before you get your academy in trouble and get yourself kicked out,” he sneered. “Finding that kid is easy. Just wait—I’ll love seeing you tossed out.”

The line went dead with a busy tone.

My stomach sank. They could track me down? I hadn’t exactly hidden my tracks. Damn it—talk about walking into trouble.

And for what? They were stirring up drama for no reason. My mood soured fast.

I started taking Demonspawn School seriously. Bad reputation or not, it was still a School of Transcendence. That was undeniable.

Could Witch School handle their pressure? It was second only to the top three academies. Surely it wouldn’t buckle under some trash talk.

Just recently, our seniors had roughed up the San Angel School kids, even some from Sorcerer School. Demonspawn wouldn’t dare mess with us.

Before I could spiral, Bai Yu’s message popped up, cutting through my thoughts.

She sent a link.

Bai Yu: [Link]

Bai Yu: Check this if you want to know more.

Bai Yu: Getting harassed?

Bai Yu: The Dome’s down. Did your parents call?

Bai Yu: Don’t overthink it.

Yang Yuehan: Thanks for checking in, Bai Yu. Yeah, my family called.

Yang Yuehan: Then some Demonspawn School guy grabbed the phone and threatened me.

I spilled the basics to Bai Yu. I’d cut ties with my family, but Demonspawn was a problem. I wanted her take on it, maybe some reassurance.

Bai Yu: What?!

Bai Yu: They’ve got some nerve.

Bai Yu: Don’t worry about your family—handle that however you want.

Bai Yu: Demonspawn? They wouldn’t dare mess with Witch School, not in a million years.

Yang Yuehan: For real?

Bai Yu: Totally.

Bai Yu: Trust Witch School. We’ve taken on the top three academies. They won’t touch you.

Yang Yuehan: Okay, I trust you, Bai Yu. That’s it for now?

Bai Yu: Yup.

After the quick chat, a weight lifted off my chest. Witch School’s strength was beyond what I’d imagined.

Still, I couldn’t ignore Demonspawn School.

I scrolled up to the link Bai Yu sent. Time to see what Demonspawn was really about.

Its secrets were about to unravel.

I clicked the link, surprised to find it on the academy’s system. That place had everything.

The page loaded, packed with details about Demonspawn School—text, even pictures.

The more I read, the grimmer I got.

Any last shred of doubt? Gone.

Like Witch School turning people into witches, or Angel and Elf Schools making angels and elves, Demonspawn had its own twisted style.

First, their look. Demonspawn’s appearance made every part of me recoil. No standout traits—just humanoid enough to give you a jump scare.

I couldn’t even describe it further.

Compared to that, becoming a witch was… fine. Way better, actually.

Then, their teaching methods. The data said demonspawn were a branch of abyssal demons, trained through brutal, raw survival-of-the-fittest slaughter.

The transformation process? It made my skin crawl.

Unlike witchification, demonspawnification melted lifeforms in a flesh furnace, reshaping them into demonspawn.

They treated life like raw material, forging demonspawn. No Psi-vision? Didn’t matter—you’d still be fodder for their flesh vats.

Those with Psi-vision went into the furnace too, molded into new demonspawn and hatched.

Every school year started with demonspawn eggs lining a blood pool’s edge. First recruits hatched first, carrying fractured memories—bits of their own and others’—instinctively forming warped worldviews, driven by demonspawn blood to act primal.

That meant eating. Blood pool nutrients, other eggs—it was all fuel to survive.

Freshly hatched demonspawn could mature in a year, if they got enough flesh. They’d piece together who they were, face mental collapse, then either accept it and survive at Demonspawn School or end it, becoming food for others.

Reading this, I felt sick—especially with the pictures.

Unforgivable.

How could a place like this exist?

Was this the ugly side of transcendence?

Demons… it fit my image of them, even if demonspawn were just a low-tier branch. Their name alone screamed cannon fodder in the demon hierarchy.

I shuddered, thinking about that guy’s obsession with my innate Psi-vision. If I’d gone along with it, that would’ve been my fate.

Was innate Psi-vision really that big a deal?

I could picture it: my memories scrambled, mixed with fragments of others’, my sense of self warped. I’d be forced to adapt, survive in that hellhole, wielding a terrifying Psi-vision. Truly horrifying.

But what was so special about Psi-vision? Wasn’t it just a way to see the inner world?

Most people in this world had it. Some just didn’t awaken it before adulthood.

Did my innate Psi-vision mean I had a higher ceiling for transcendence?

I had no answers. I considered asking Bai Yu, but thought better of it. This was like my unknown talent—out of reach for now.

Digging deeper would only stress me out.

All I had left was a lingering disgust for Demonspawn School.

I closed the link. The system had info on San Angel School, Elf School, and others, but I was done. No mood to keep reading.

Translator’s note: I think a more precise translation for demonspawn should be ”lemure”, but it was a bit too late to correct that now.
