The Great Thief

“We’ll try it first. If we can fight it, we’ll fight it. If we can’t then we’ll see,” Lu Li said.

It wasn’t his style to not fight a Boss if he came across one. This matchmaker would have a certain chance of dropping a mount, or it could drop some love gift boxes that could have valuable items inside.

When it came to this sort of thing, of course he wouldn’t have his partner go up. Lu Li could only bear the brunt of it himself.

“Youth, enter my door of thoughts. Know my pain.”

The cane in the matchmaker’s hand moved slightly, and a gold circle exploded in front of Lu Li, dealing about 600 damage to him. What was more, it had the effects of reducing speed and knocking him away. Lu Li had no choice but to activate a maneuver skill that immediately teleported him behind the matchmaker.

A Shadowstrike was cast, and with 95% Skill Completion, it dealt over 1000 damage and Stunned for 2 seconds.

Lu Li was just afraid that this old guy couldn’t be crowd-controlled.

“If a relationship lasts through all bends, then a day must feel like it never ends,” the matchmaker laughed. He wielded his staff again, and Lu Li realised that he and Water Fairy had switched places. At this time, Water Fairy had taken the place of Lu Li to suffer the matchmaker’s blow to her head. She was left in a daze and was Stunned for 2 seconds.

“What the hell is this old boomer going on about?” Lu Li cried out. He could only rush over again.

“You illiterate idiot – it’s an ancient poem.”

While blocking the matchmaker’s attacks, Water Fairy didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at Lu Li’s question. If it was a few years earlier and someone told her that the guy she liked hadn’t even heard of the line ‘If a relationship lasts through all bends, then a day must feel like it never ends,’ then she would have thought that the biggest joke on the planet.

“Haha, right, it’s an old poem,” Lu Li mumbled sheepishly.

Sometimes, Lu Li wouldn’t have confidence in himself. He had a extremely distinguished position in gaming, being worth well over 100 million dollars. However, his coarseness and ignorance was already becoming more and more apparent.

If you were a scoundrel, it would be weird if you weren’t being vulgar.

But as soon as you had your own job and had a girl who looked and acted like a goddess, you had to talk like a goddess’ partner. Then, that vulgarity would be immeasurably magnified.

It wasn’t just Lu Li who thought like this. Most of those people who bad-mouthed this odd couple’s relationship thought that Lu Li wasn’t good enough for Water Fairy. Just because he was good at gaming didn’t mean much, because gaming wasn’t all there was to life.

However, life was a very long journey. If two people were living together, they wouldn’t be playing games.

So, how far could Lu Li and Water Fairy go?

At the same time that Lu Li was scoffing at this, he was stressing about it. This was why he planned that after classes started, he would go to university more and listen in. He also prepared some preordered books that he could read and learn from.

“What are you thinking about? Hurry up – I’m running out of HP,” Water Fairy warned coquettishly. There was a twinge of regret in her heart. She felt like she shouldn’t always call Lu Li illiterate. She didn’t know if deep down, it was hard for him to bear or not.

“Coming, coming, don’t fight yet. Let me pull aggro over.”

Thieves didn’t have the Taunt skill, so if two people wanted to draw aggro, they could only do so through damage output. When the DPS of one person was more than 20% of the other, aggro would slowly move over.

“Holding hands under the flowers, we finish a cup of wine. How beautiful is your face!”

Before the words were out of his mouth, Lu Li and Water Fairy had received a full blast of drunkenness from the Boss. They couldn’t walk straight anymore, and they continued to lose HP.

“A heart is like a net of thousands of knots!”

Just when that skill had ended, a new one had been cast.

All of a sudden, nets sprung forth from the ground. Lu Li accidently stepped on one, and all of a sudden, his health dropped by a third. He rushed to use Gale Steps and not only did he escape from that drunken state, but the damage he received later also disappeared.

“Snowy don’t step in that net,” Lu Li reminded.

However, only Lu Li was silly enough to put himself in danger and make himself an example of what not to do.

“The stars have changed – who will I be with now?!”

They didn’t know what this skill was called either. Lu Li saw a gale begin to blow, which pushed him and Water Fairy towards a certain direction. It turned out they were being blown towards the entrance of what looked like a whirlpool.

Lu Li didn’t know what would happen after they entered, but it definitely wouldn’t be good.

The two of them moved towards the Boss with great difficulty. They had no way of stopping themselves from being sucked into the whirlpool. In a worst-case scenario, it would only take a few seconds for them to be swept along, and then it would probably be over for them.

“Our appearances aren’t as colorful as birds, but our spirits fly just as high!”

At this time, the matchmaker was reciting poetry. When foreigners attacked this Boss they probably would be completely dumbstruck, having no idea what this Boss’ lines meant.

“Grab my hand!” Water Fairy shouted.

Lu Li subconsciously held onto Water Fairy’s outstretched hand and realized in surprise that the speed at which they were being sucked into the whirlpool had been reduced. Now, they were able to move stably towards the Boss.

“Snowy, you’re really amazing. How did you know we had to hold hands?” Lu Li asked in surprise.

“What else would a Valentine’s Day Boss be doing? If we don’t have wings, then we can link hands and fly,” Water Fairy said.

“It’s a shame that we realized too late. We can’t defeat this Boss now,” Lu Li sighed.

While the matchmaker’s HP was just under 60%, they were both about to die, and they had already used up all the skills they could to recover their HP.

“I’ll hold him; you go first. We’ll start again.”

Water Fairy also understood that under these circumstances, they would be unable to continue on. If both of them died, the Boss would be gone, and they wouldn’t see him if they entered the Instance Dungeon again.

“You hold him and I go. Who knows? I might make it.”

Of course, Lu Li couldn’t let his girl stay while he ran himself.

Actually, he had already stored the ‘Death’s Memory’ that Garona had given him and put it in the storehouse. Even if they died now, it didn’t matter that much. They would not lose EXP or equipment.

Water Fairy looked at him and firmly decided to run away from the Boss, Stealthing over and leaving the battle.

Most Bosses in Dawn maintained aggro throughout the whole Instance Dungeon. As soon as the Boss saw you, they would chase you down right to the doorway of the Dungeon, unless you could run outside before you died. Most players didn’t have the speed to escape.

Thieves were different. As long as they ran away from the Boss and Vanished, they could escape from the battle, and the Boss wouldn’t trouble them either.

After Water Fairy got away, Lu Li first pulled the Boss away to a distant corner, then used Sprint escape.

The matchmaker dropped his aggro and angrily went back to his original position. As this happened, his HP began to refill too.
