The Great Thief

The new battle schedule was released. Everyone was looking forward to Ruling Sword fighting Drizzle Court.

Glory Capital was not matched up against Gale Legion. It was impossible for the competition preparation team to arrange such a bizarre combination.

It was Ruling Sword versus Gale Legion, and Drizzle Court versus Glory Capital.

The first match would be between Drizzle Court and Glory Capital, while the next match would be two days after. Lu Li and the others sat in the stands as audience members. The organising committee invited Lu Li to commentate, but he refused without hesitation.

Drizzle Court versus Glory Capital – this matchup was not ideal.

This matchup was seen by the players as a double battle of wealth and abilities. In terms of wealth, at the moment, it appeared that Glory Capital had the upper hand. Even after losing the support of the Shan Financial Group, Water Fairy was still a female tycoon.

On the other hand, Sorrowless was handsome and wealthy. Half of the gaming circle’s female players were Sorrowless’ fan.

As for their overall strengths, Drizzle Court still could not compare.

If Green Flag Wine and Deadly Gold Underpants joined Drizzle Court’s team – which would create a line-up of Deadly Gold Underpants, Water Fairy, Deadly Green Orange, Star Baby, Green Flag Wine and either Vegetarian Mosquito or Immortal – they would then only stand a chance against Glory Capital.

This five-celebrity line-up would be unbeatable even for Lu Li and the others.

Unfortunately, Water Fairy couldn’t arrange something like this. Peerless City had already experienced trials of hardships and needed to steadily develop. For competitions like the Shadow Cup, the original team of Peerless City would continue to fight for them.

When Peerless City settled in the future, they would perhaps incorporate these experts into the Drizzle Court team, while they developed their new competitive team.

If you took away all the main players in Peerless City now, then the club would be ruined.

In order to narrow the gap, Water Fairy had borrowed a lot of equipment from her other two allies. There was no need to talk about Peerless City. They no longer had any matches, so it made sense for them to give their equipment to the main club. As for Ruling Sword, they also provided a lot of support.

However, that didn’t include their tactics that haven’t been exposed yet. After all, everyone needed to keep a trump card.

The Shadow Cup held a major influence. The level of attention it received put it at the forefront of all major events. It could be said that it was only second to the professional leagues, so the reward, naturally, wouldn’t be stingy. Since Dawn had been released, it had been held twice. This time, the Champion prize money had reached 1 million.

In reality, the money on advertising that the Shadow Cup spent was far more than just 1-2 million dollars. A large enterprise at this level was far more willing to spend such money on brand advertising every year.

Originally, Lu Li thought that placing top four was good enough, and hadn’t thought much about becoming champions.

Or rather, he hadn’t dared to think about it. Glory Capital had such rich financial resources, and they had now collected the world’s most exquisite legendary equipment. Against such oppressive wealth, any effort paled in comparison.

Now, looking at the newly announced championship reward, all he thought about was money.

One million dollars – this was enough to give Ruling Sword a bit of a break.

It was difficult to maintain a club without finances. Even if Lu Li could make millions and millions of dollars easily, they couldn’t spend all the money. Lu Li himself couldn’t take out any more than 10,000 dollars out of the game.

However, 10,000 dollars was enough for him and his sister to be content.

Back when they lived in the slums, they often had only tens of dollars to live on.

“This is a bit tricky.”

Shen Wansan was rather stumped.

Lu Li found him in the hope that he could help him search for the equipment that Glory Capital has gathered, where they had got it from, and the attributes of the equipment, so that Ruling Sword could make effective precautions.

“If money’s an issue, then you just need to let me know,” Lu Li offered.

“It’s not a matter of money. The main thing is, no one wants to get into trouble with Glory Capital. To survive in this circle, no one wants to get on Glory Capital’s bad side. They really can do as they please,” Shen Wansan said, evidently rather worked up.

He was already bound together with Ruling Sword, and didn’t want Lu Li to think that he didn’t want to do the errands.

“Try your best. We will keep it top secret on our side. I believe you would definitely have your ways.”

Lu Li also understood the difficulties of Shen Wansan, but some things still needed to be done. If they could find out even the smallest piece of information, this could all influence the result of the competition.

“Generous rewards rouse people to heroism. I’ll try and see what I can do,” Shen Wansan promised.

He was a senior game merchant, and had been involved in many games. He had many connections, and had heard of deals involving exquisite equipment.

Businessmen knew businessmen best. So, he set his sights on a businessman.

This person’s ID was called “Tweedle Dummy”, and was a game merchant like Shen Wansan. However, his business focus was not on hoarding and profiteering, but was instead a kind of middleman dedicated to serving key customers such as Glory Capital, collecting exquisite equipment for them.

Of course, Tweedle Dummy was only one of them, and was not the best of them.

The truly amazing brokers were hard to buy over, and Shen Wansan didn’t have the money to do that anyways.

Tweedle Dummy was one he knew that he could break. Perhaps it was his good luck – otherwise, he couldn’t have possibly helped Glory Capital purchase two pieces of equipment that they were happy with.

“Here are 10,000 gold coins. Consider it a deposit. Bro, I need some help,” Shen Wansan said as he threw a large sum of money at him.

Tweedle Dummy swallowed his saliva as his eyes widened.

The impact that 10,000 gold coins had was pretty amazing. Very few people in Dawn could just throw around such a large bag of gold coins.

An ordinary player who played for a week could at most accumulate a few hundred gold coins, and these were the ones who had done well. Tweedle Dummy helped Glory Capital purchase two pieces of equipment – one Epic and one Legendary. Altogether, the prices reached 140,000 gold coins.

Glory Capital couldn’t produce this many gold coins in-game, so they traded the corresponding portion of real-life money.

“Shen Bro, you’ve gotten rich – throwing around 10,000 gold coins like nothing! So, what can I do for you mate?” Tweedle Dummy asked as he rubbed his hands. In the end, he still placed his hands on the gold coin sack. Greed filled his mind. He was set on taking these 10,000 gold coins.

“What equipment did you help Glory Capital buy? What attributes did they have?” Shen Wansan asked, getting straight to the point.
