The Great Thief

Because of the tip that Lu Li gave everyone, Wandering perfectly timed his taunt on Gaith and only he was frozen.

The frozen debuff lasted for a whole 30 seconds and there was a very high chance of the player being killed in that time. There was a very low chance of players critically striking the Boss, but when the players were frozen, the Boss gained critical hit.

300?

Wandering didn’t even activate his defensives this time because he wanted to compare the damage before and after the fire pillars. With the burn debuff, he only took 300 points of damage, whereas he was taking 500 before.

“That’s quite helpful, wait…” Lu Li paused for a second then said, “The damage per tick is decreased as well.”

The second tick was even less than 300HP, with each tick doing less and damage.

“All good, we’ll just heal you,” Lu Li said.

“You sure?” March Rain asked. She was hesitant about healing him because of what had happened before.

“If you die then I’ll take responsibility for it,” Lu Li promised as he rolled his eyes.

March Rain casted heal on Wandering and was frozen immediately, taking 700 points of damage.

No damage over time!

“Don’t look at me like that. I’m surprised too,” Lu Li said innocently.

He had actually read about this in one of the strategy guides and was surprised that it worked. This mechanic was only discovered much later and Lu Li was never able to try it in his past life.

Wandering was frozen for the whole duration and there was nothing he could do to dispel it.

However, Contagious Freeze could be dispelled when players took damage. Therefore, when March Rain was frozen and took a tick of damage from the burn, she was set free.

With this in their minds, stage two became a piece of cake. Before this strategy was discovered, the Orc and Dragon combo was nearly impossible to defeat. There used to be a saying that if a player in Dawn had yet to die in the game, they hadn’t attempted Blockrock Towers.

When Rend Blackhand reached a third of his HP left, the fight transitioned into stage three.

This was the stage when they actually faced off against Rend as he jumped off his trusty dragon mount.

Since Rend was riding on Gaith before, they were both holding each other back and couldn’t fight together.

Rend jumped down from his mount and immediately casted Whirlwind.

Whirlwind – Warchief Rend Blackhand swings his weapon around in a whirlwind, dealing physical damage to all enemies in an 8 yard radius.

“Dodge! Everyone dodge!” Lu Li cried out.

There were two types of Whirlwinds that Bosses used. One of them was used earlier on in the fight and had mediocre damage. It was used as more of a scare tactic against the players. Another type was cast in a last-ditch effort when the Boss was about to die, dealing more damage and even one-shot-killing enemies.

Rend’s Whirlwind managed to do more than half of the entire party’s HP.

When Lu Li yelled, everyone began running away as best they could.

Gaith managed to catch them off guard and froze all the players who moved away from the fire pillars.

The players were frozen in place and Rend Blackhand took this opportunity to kill half the party members. Since they had lost the majority of their team, they had no choice but to restart.

“Just die and we’ll try again,” Lu Li sighed.

Lu Li didn’t mention to stay close to the fire pillars because he thought that the others would be smart enough to know that. It seemed as though he had overestimated his teammates’ game sense.

When a party had a good shot caller, the benefit was that the clears were much more easier and smoother. However, the team would begin to rely on the calls in order to react.

As long as they followed the calls, they would be able to clear the dungeon. This was something that the Ruling Sword dungeon team had learnt over time, which was why they were all frozen in place when Lu Li didn’t mention to keep an eye out on Gaith.

Failure was the key to success. With this experience, everyone knew to never leave the fire pillars now. They had to try their best to dodge the Whirlwind while also making sure that they stayed as close as possible to the fire pillar.

Now that Gaith was free, he could do a lot more than breathe ice upon them.

Knockback – Gaith inflicts physical damage to his current target and knocks them away.

Corrosive Acid Breath – Gaith breathes corrosive acid, reducing the Armor of all players in front of him and inflicting Nature damage every 5 seconds.

Flame Breath – Gaith breathes fire, inflicting fire damage to all players in front of him.

This dragon was capable of spitting out three different things. Who knew how his internal anatomy worked?

Fortunately, both Corrosive Acid Breath and Fire Breath were damaging abilities and not crowd-control.

However, if Gaith used Fire Breath and the player was near a fire pillar, they would take significantly more damage and be instantly barbecued to death.

Because of Fire Breath, Lu Li and others wiped two more times.

They had lost count of how many times they had wiped, but it had been more than 2 hours. They finally lowered both Rend and Gaith to critical HP. Whenever there were two or more Bosses, teams preferred to kill both at once in case one of them became enraged.

They were extremely lucky this time and both Rend and Gaith died without becoming enraged.
