The Great Thief

Demigod Asura was also really tired.

His situation was similar to that of Fat Monkey’s. Fat Monkey had leaped forward to challenge Sorrowless, but the gap between him and Moonlight was quite large as well.

In the short time that he took to defeat Moonlight, not only did he use all kinds of special effects and skills, but he also used up a lot of his mental energy. If given the chance, he would lie down and immediately fall asleep.

However, he couldn’t sleep now, because Lu Li was here.

Against a Magic Profession, Lu Li was much scarier than Moonlight.

They greeted each other and prepared to enter the battle. Lu Li very calmly smeared poison on his dagger. This was a new poison that he had developed. Although he looked very serious, the damage of this poison was actually negligible.

It wasn’t that he didn’t have any poisons that dealt more damage, but this Slowdown 3 was one of the most effective poisons he had.

He had another called Damage 6, which had five to six times more damage than the one he was applying. However, the base damage was so low that even multiplying didn’t increase it by much, so it was worse than the System poisons. As such, Lu Li didn’t bother with damage and just went with Slowdown.

As the name suggests, the function of this poison was to decrease movement speed.

According to Lu Li’s testing on Moonlight, Berserkers were more resistant to poisons, followed by Warlocks, who were slightly more resistant than Mages. It would take about three to five attacks to apply the slow effect which was a 30% decrease in movement speed lasting for 1.5 seconds.

The System’s current best slow poison dealt more damage than Lu Li’s, but couldn’t match the effect of Lu Li’s poison.

This was particularly the case for the effect’s duration. A normal poison effect only lasted about 0.8 seconds. This poison would slow you for long enough that your opponent could run away.

He had to admit that this art of Poison Brewing taught by Garona was much deeper than he thought.

As he saw Lu Li gradually vanishing, Demigod Asura tightened the Magic Staff in his hands. He started to grow more excited as he realized that this was a rare opportunity. If he played well, he could gain the attention of more people. Fat Monkey was considered to have potential of becoming the next Mage God after reducing Sorrowless by 45% HP. Could he do something similar after defeating Moonlight?

Frost fanned out not far from in front of Lu Li and almost froze him.

Lu Li was shocked, but he then felt relief.

“What a waste,” Dark Wind lamented as he licked his lips.

“This is a mental issue. When he faced Moonlight, all he had on his mind was Moonlight, so he was very determined and very stable. However, after defeating Moonlight, he isn’t just focused on Lu Li anymore.”

Of course, Four Seas Dragon couldn’t completely see what Demigod Asura was thinking either.

“He is now thinking about the fame and fortune, and this will be the reason he loses the fight today,” Dark Wind said.

“Lu Li had no plans of approaching him at all. All he had to do was wait for Demigod Asura to kill himself.”

Four Seas Dragon felt sorry for Demigod Asura. He could only hope that the young and upcoming player could learn from his mistake, and not be knocked down by this failure.

Lu Li was quietly huddled in the corner, silently watching as Demigod Asura cast his skills in places where he thought Lu Li would be.

Because there had been no fighting on both sides, Demigod Asura’s HP was slowly regenerating, but even the rookies in the audience couldn’t be optimistic about his situation.

Even if he was at full HP, he wouldn’t be able to do anything against the Thief if he had no skills.

Demigod Asura was growing a bit impatient, and just as he was about to cast his last skill to reveal the Thief, he suddenly felt convicted. What if this skill didn’t catch Lu Li? Was he making the right decision here? He had already made the same mistake so many times, and was losing confidence.

Lu Li didn’t give him the opportunity to hesitate, and immediately teleported behind him.

“Hey, look at him. That was his chance, but why did he hesitate? Why didn’t he do it immediately?”

Dark Wind felt really terrible for Demigod Asura. From beginning, the fight had already been trending downhill and he never recovered.

He was down to his last skill; perhaps he was saving it for a crucial moment?

But of course, Lu Li’s offensive ability was too strong, and his HP was quickly depleting. Demigod Asura almost immediately lost half of his HP.

If he had used it in the beginning, there would have been something of a fight and it might have even been some trouble Lu Li. But now, it was all over. When Lu Li had dealt with him, he had only used some crowd-control and interrupting skills. He didn’t even need to use his badge.

Demigod Asura had dropped from over half HP. Although he had used quite a bit when fighting Moonlight, this was just shameful.

Meanwhile, Lu Li had only lost 3% HP!

On the whole, Demigod Asura had killed Moonlight who was on half HP, and made Lu Li use several crowd-control skills. So, it wasn’t a complete failure.

However, the contrast between the two matches was abundantly clear. The difference between his fight against Moonlight and his fight against Lu Li was huge. Even the most forgiving of commentators could not explain away this embarrassment.

Dark Wind and Four Seas Dragon could only laugh as they quickly shifted the topic to who Glory Capital would bring out to face Lu Li.

Lui Li was almost at full HP, and the loss of a few skills could hardly be counted as damage. A Thief’s cooldowns were not long and some skills only required combo points and had no cooldown.

“It will probably be Blood Dagger. I am looking forward to a match between two top Thieves. After the Thief and Magic matchup, that would bring this match full circle,” Four Seas Dragon analyzed.

“I don’t see it. If I were Sorrowless, I wouldn’t pit Blood Dagger against Lu Li,” Dark Wind disagreed.

“I know what you mean; he would accept this one loss to take more wins later. It might be better to keep Blood Dagger to fight Kitty Likes Meat. If the Magic Profession player isn’t mentally strong enough, it would be an easy win,” Four Seas Dragon said, unable to help but give a bit of criticism against Demigod Asura.

Sure enough, Blood Dagger wasn’t the next player to see play.

The player that appeared wasn’t one that anyone would have guessed – it was Glory Capital’s Paladin Shadowfang. Paladins had some advantages against a Thief, and Shadowfang was also an experienced player, so he didn’t have the weaker mentality of the novices.
