The Great Thief

“Tell me about the whole battle,” Garona said softly.

Lu Li started from the beginning. He included Shandris, his friends and all that happened between the Alliance and the Horde. However, Lu Li found that she wasn’t interested in the last topic. He was allowed to talk about his friends as much as he wanted, but when he mentioned the attack, she grew impatient.

As such, he sped up the retelling of the story, and hastily described the siege.

“He may have already forgotten the people he has killed. My mother, if my mother is still alive…” Garona sighed before standing up from and taking a thick book from the shelf.

The dust that fell off the book made it apparent that it had not been read for quite some time.

“Do you know about the Draenei?” Garona asked.

“I know a bit; they seem to have come from somewhere else,” Lu Li answered.

“I’m not talking about the Draenei of Azeroth, but the Draenei of Draenor,” Garona said as she handed the book to Lu Li.

Lu Li took it eagerly and found that it was about the customs of the Draenei. The author was obviously a Draenei and outlined the territory of his race from his perspective. He also wrote about the life of a Draenei in Draenor.

“Can I have this book to read…?” Lu Li asked.

He was curious about the legendary existence of the Draenei continent. Knowing more about Draenor was also helpful for completing Draenei-related quests. Even if he couldn’t help, he could learn a bit more about where his teacher was born.

“Yes, you can read all of these books. Even though some of them are just descriptions, you can treat them as if they are real. What is real and what is an illusion anyway? The only thing missing here is a master to keep all these books,” Garona sighed.

“If I can read them all, that would be great.”

Lu Li felt that this quest had been worth it, even if there were no other rewards, and nothing worth as much as the two pocket watches.

“You can also come here where no one will bother you. You just have to use the Teleportation Channel on your pocket watch.”

Garona signalled for Lu Li to take out his ‘Ragnarok’ and fiddled with it. It now had an additional attribute, which allowed the user to be transported to the Garona Tower via the Teleportation Channel in the main city.

“Thank you teacher, thank you so much,” Lu Li said.

“Teacher… very well. You are indeed my student,” Garona said with some uncertainty, then asked, “What do you think was the most helpful part of this battle?”

“Hmm,” Lu Li contemplated, then said reluctantly, “The power of the Moon Prayer was very great, and so was the Vengeance Poison. Of course, the things you have taught me were more important. Without those teachings, I would have definitely been killed by Belgrave.

“Hahaha.”

Garona seemed to be amused as she laughed for quite some time in a light-hearted tone.

“The Moon Prayer is indeed very powerful, so I have nothing to teach Shandris. However, Tyrande is unable to find a Thief that is stronger than I am. As for much usual teachings, I would have to say you are lying. I haven’t taught you anything, so let’s talk about Vengeance Poison.”

Lu Li put the book on the desk to the left and looked eager.

“Before that, I still need to give this to you.”

Garona hadn’t moved, but two books fell off the shelf above and landed in front of Lu Li. Hes couldn’t tell if the booklets were grey or if the table was just too dusty.

The two books were exactly the same. Lu Li took the first and saw Enhanced Gouge on its cover.

“One of the books is for that girl. I will not be seeing her. Affection between young people is too pure for someone like me. You will need to complete a trial before you can learn from this book. I think the trial will be very simple for you, and you can do it together,” Garona explained.

To be fair to Garona, Lu Li had been too lazy to clarify his relationship with Water Fairy.

“Teacher, the Vengeance Poison is really strong. It is a deadly poison that has an additive effect on the attacker. In fact, when Belgrave finally went Berserk, it was already the end of the poison duration.”

“Alright, let’s talk about poisons.”

Although Garona couldn’t butt in to say a word, she could clearly see the expression in Lu Li’s eyes.

“Oh, is there more of that poison?” Lu Li was a little embarrassed.

Although this was just a regular quest, he had already received a significant reward. Two enhanced skill books were already better than most quest rewards in Dawn. Even players like Hachi Chan didn’t receive treatment like this, even though she had been given one or two enhanced skill books in the past.

“There are more poisons, but I can’t give you anymore. You aren’t strong enough to wield them,” Garona refused straightforwardly.

In fact, Lu Li could understand why Garona said that he couldn’t wield the poison, but this wasn’t the only reason. The main issue was that the poison was too strong. About one third of the Belgrave’s injuries were caused by the poison, and it had inflicted a number of debuffs onto the old Orc Berserker.

“But, if you are interested, I can teach you how to make the poison…”

Lu Li almost thought he had heard incorrectly. He had already accepted his fate, and didn’t expect a surprise like this for him.

Although the Vengeance Poison was powerful, Lu Li obviously preferred learning to make poison. As the saying went, it was better to teach a man how to fish than to give him a fish. If he was given the opportunity to learn how to make such poisons, why wouldn’t he take it?

“You seemed to have learned some alchemy, right?” Garona asked.

“That’s right, but my level isn’t very high. I’ve been slacking off,” Lu Li answered sheepishly.

“You don’t need a very high level. We can practice it from the beginning,” Garona said indifferently. She tapped the side of Lu Li’s head, and Lu Li received a System prompt that he had transferred from Alchemy to be a Poison Brewer.

Poison Brewer?

What was this? Wasn’t poison-brewing a type of alchemy?
