The Great Thief

Lu Li was different from Half a Smoke. While he was consuming Deadly Gold Underpant’s skills and special effects, he hadn’t given up on defeating his opponent. The two players had different ways of doing things, but if Lu Li could tell the audience that he still intended to win, they would think he had gone mad.

However, even he himself knew that the possibility of that happening was close to zero.

Blocking was one of the most fundamental means by which a Thief was able to deal with physical attacks. A Thief that couldn’t block a Warrior’s attacks had no hope of winning. Or, from the other perspective, a Warrior that could break a Thief’s defense could be called a Thief killer.

Lu Li was a blocking master. His blocking technique had been analyzed by his peers and studied from like a textbook.

The Thief’s attack speed was also generally quite fast, especially with an off-hand weapon. In the dance of blades, not only could Lu Li block Deadly Gold Underpant’s skills, but he was also able to land several attacks.

Deadly Gold Underpant’s mood was progressively becoming worse. He thought that he was just supposed to finish off Lu Li.

Fortunately, he was a Plate Armored profession with high HP and blocking attacks didn’t completely negate, but rather, reduced damage. Overall, Deadly Gold Underpants still had Lu Li on the back foot.

There was nothing much to explain in such a game that the audience didn’t already understand.

Jiufeng lowered his voice as he gossiped, “I heard that Peerless City has gone to Jiangnan City this time, and Water Fairy was one of the players who traveled with them. It seems like Water Fairy lived up to her reputation and she is perhaps even more beautiful in real life.”

“Ahem, Drizzle Court and Peerless City are allies so it is a normal thing for her to help the team,” Four Seas Dragon coughed a few times, not knowing what else to say.

Did all women like to gossip like this? She should have at least considered the person and occasion that she was in. Water Fairy seemed harmless, but there were very few players in the entire professional circle that were willing to offend her.

She wouldn’t be offending just anyone either. She would be offending a woman, and a beautiful woman at that. No matter what the outcome was, she was already doomed to lose.

“In fact, it is a bit difficult because both sides here are allies,” Jiufeng said, refusing to believed that the circumstances between Lu Li and Water Fairy were completely innocent.

She and Four Seas Dragon had also discussed this issue privately. Four Seas Dragon thought that Water Fairy wanted to take back some glory from Ruling Sword, which was why she was getting close to Lu Li. However, Jiu Feng had always felt, based on her woman’s intuition, that there was something going on between the two.

The audience obviously enjoyed Jiufeng’s gossip, no matter how enthusiastic they were for the game.

As for Lu Li and Deadly Gold Underpants, the two players chopping at each other didn’t make for an exciting fight. Time seemed to drag on for a while and Deadly Gold Underpants was using a number of techniques to apply pressure on Lu Li because he thought the situation was going unfavorably. Even after going for some time, it was hard to say who had gained the advantage they were looking for.

Lu Li finally fell and Deadly Gold Underpants was left on stage with less than 70% HP.

His next opponent was Kitty Likes Meat, a highly qualified newcomer who was not to be trifled with. Deadly Gold Underpants made a face, as he had to admit that Lu Li had definitely influenced this next fight.

He had used up too many of his crowd control and movement speed buffs.

However, there was nothing he could do to change that now. He cursed under his breath, steeled himself and charged right into Kitty Likes Meat.

Kitty Likes Meat immediately cast a number of debuffs onto him, including a Slow, Armour Pierce, Bleed and Charm…

“Although Half a Smoke forced Lu Li to use up many of his skills, Lu Li managed to do the same for Deadly Gold Underpants. However, the result of these two attempts seem to have different effects.”

The audience members were watching excitedly while Jiufeng made these observations.

“That’s right, Ruling Sword’s choice of player was perfect here. Lu Li, who had no skills and effects left, was bound to die relatively quickly. However, this would not be the case for Deadly Gold Underpants if he used his area of effect defense buff. Obviously, such an important skill would have a long cooldown period, so he would want to save it for the team round later. Even with those skills, the only profession that could kill him is a Warlock,” Four Seas Dragon sighed deeply.

Kitty Likes Meat defeated Deadly Gold Underpants and only lost a little more than 10% HP.

On a surface level, she had taken a decisive victory, which could be seen as a devastating blow against a famous Warrior like Deadly Gold Underpants. There was some fear that some of the media reports would report this incident in this way.

However, the players in the clubs knew what had happened on a deeper level.

The order of sending out your players was very important, but this was often underestimated. In the future, everyone would try to predict the order that their opponents would send their players and develop their order accordingly in an attempt to achieve a similar effect.

Kitty Likes Meat normally wasn’t capable of defeating Deadly Gold Underpants, but the foundation of her victory was laid down by Lu Li.

In the next fight, Ruling Sword had the upper hand again. Kitty Likes Meat was up against Vegetarian Mosquito, but he was left on a remnant of HP after defeating her. Vegetarian Mosquito was then quickly finished off by the next player, Moonlight.

Now, it was Immortal against Moonlight. Perhaps it was just a coincidence, but this was the second fight between a Warrior and a Warlock.

Deadly Gold Underpants had lost as a Warrior, but now that Moonlight was fighting, the Warrior players were relieved. Moonlight was going to show that Warriors could fight Warlocks, and it seemed like his hits on Immortal were quite effective.

Immortal was constantly draining Moonlight’s HP, but Moonlight could not be outdone. He had many crowd control and movement speed buffs. Immortal also didn’t have the same skills that allowed him to kite like Kitty Likes Meat.

As a result, Moonlight eventually won and demonstrated the gap of strength between them.

Moonlight was now facing Green Flag Wine, which was one of the less exciting fights on this series. One had high attack, while the other had low attack but would heal themselves. Both of them had Plate Armor but the nature of such a drawn-out fight was that both would be significantly hurt even after a victor emerged.

Green Flag Wine fared a little better, but he didn’t have much HP left either.

Ruling Sword then sent Mu Qiu. This was the first time he had appeared in the individual rounds. His attack wasn’t high and he could heal himself, but Green Flag Wine had too little mana and HP left so he was eliminated.

The end result of the individual rounds competition was five points to Ruling Sword and three points to Peerless City.

The players in Peerless City had pulled out all the stops for this fight. If they couldn’t acquire at least three points, then all their growth before Ruling Sword existed would have been in vain.
