From Folly to Fortune：I Rewrite My Life After Rebirth!

”Third Sister-in-law, I want to eat eggs! I want to eat five eggs!”

Mu Xiangxiang was clearly pushing her luck, opening her mouth and asking for five eggs just like that.

Yu Si Niang, who was chopping meat, froze for a moment. She glanced at Mu Xiangxiang, then still said—

”Xiangxiang, your health has just gotten better, it’s not suitable... not suitable for you to eat too much. How about Third Sister-in-law fries you one fried egg?”

”No, I just want five!”

Mu Xiangxiang refused to give in no matter what, and not only that, she even dragged Old Mrs. Mu into it.

”Third Sister-in-law, I know, you’re just嫌我不干活儿, afraid I’ll eat up a few of your family’s eggs!

But when Mom was still here, I also didn’t do any work. When Mom was here, I was eating five eggs at a time!”

Mu Xiangxiang mentioned Old Mrs. Mu with every other word. Yu Si Niang had no choice and could only give in to Mu Xiangxiang, going into the room to fetch some eggs.

Only then did Mu Xiangxiang stop making a fuss.

Because she had to fry eggs, Yu Si Niang lit the other stove as well.

Fried eggs don’t need beating; you drizzle a spoonful of oil, sprinkle a bit of salt in the pan, crack an egg in, and once the egg gets a layer of golden-brown crust, you can start turning the edges.

If you don’t want the egg too well done, frying on one side is enough.

Yu Si Niang scooped out the fried eggs one by one; by then, the water in the other pot had also come to a rolling boil.

She dropped the dough lumps into the iron pot one by one, then washed the pan she had just used for the eggs, and started stir-frying the minced meat.

This time, Yu Si Niang chopped a full half catty of meat, added oil, put in the marinated meat, and kept stir-frying.

Then, when the meat was almost cooked, she added a small spoonful of dried chili powder.

The whole kitchen was instantly filled with the spiciness of chili powder and the aroma of meat.

Mu Xiangxiang’s mouth was watering; she kept urging, ”Hurry, Third Sister-in-law, hurry up, I’m hungry!”

”It’s just about done!” Yu Si Niang said.

She ladled up the dough lumps; the first bowl was for Mu Xiangxiang—a full bowl of dough lumps, five eggs laid on top, and then two big ladles of minced meat.

She handed the bowl to Mu Xiangxiang.

Mu Xiangxiang looked starving, didn’t say a word, hugged the bowl, and started devouring, so that in the whole kitchen you could only hear her huffing and slurping as she ate.

Mrs. Liu’s was a bit slower, also a full bowl of dough-lump soup, two big spoonfuls of meat, only apart from the meat there wasn’t the slightest shadow of a fried egg.

Mrs. Liu said she didn’t mind, but deep down, she still felt a bit unhappy.

She quietly took the dough lumps Yu Si Niang handed over, forced out a thank you, and sat alone by the stove mouth, silently eating.

At first, because of her mood, Mrs. Liu ate without tasting anything, but after two mouthfuls, she was still hooked by this bowl of noodle soup.

The more she ate, the better it tasted, the more she ate, the more satisfied she felt, to the end she simply couldn’t stop.

Mu Xiangxiang and Mrs. Liu hadn’t eaten something this tasty for a long time.

If it weren’t for the soup in the bowl, it might have been gone in just a few mouthfuls.

Mrs. Liu had eaten half her bowl of soup before remembering to stir the minced meat into the bottom, and when she stirred, she realized there was something under the dough lumps.

Eggs—

Mrs. Liu pushed aside all the dough lumps and saw the golden-yellow eggs hidden in the bowl.

She pushed aside the first egg, and there was another underneath.

Only then did Mrs. Liu feel that she’d been too petty.

She had actually thought of Si Niang that way and felt her face burning.

She didn’t dare look at Yu Si Niang, and became even more silent as she finished the bowl of dough lumps.

After Mu Xiangxiang finished, she tossed her bowl and chopsticks onto the table, wiped her mouth. ”The taste is just so-so, still not as good as my mom’s!

But you’re my Third Sister-in-law, of course you have to cook for me! Let’s do this, from today on, I’ll come here every day to eat!”

”As for you, you vicious woman, just you wait! In a few days, after I settle things with that slut and go to the county, you’ll see what’s coming to you!”

Mu Xiangxiang jabbed a finger at Mrs. Liu’s face, showing no mercy at all as she openly berated Mrs. Liu right in front of Yu Si Niang.

Yu Si Niang, on the side, frowned tightly.

”Xiangxiang, this is your Fourth Sister-in-law, how can you talk like that?”

”How I talk is none of your business! If my Third Brother didn’t spoil you, could you strut around in front of me? I’m telling you, if Mom were still alive, you’d still have to act like a grandson in front of me!” Mu Xiangxiang cursed Yu Si Niang out.

Yu Si Niang’s face was full of shock; she hadn’t imagined that after just cooking so much food for Mu Xiangxiang, before the stuff in her stomach was even digested, the girl would turn around and curse her like this.

Even someone like Yu Si Niang, who usually doesn’t really argue with Mu Xiangxiang, couldn’t hold back anymore.

”Xiangxiang, do you even realize you were just cursing all your elders?

Jinhua and I usually treat you pretty well too. How can you just curse whoever you feel like? Do you even have us in your eyes at all?”

”Ha!” Mu Xiangxiang laughed like she’d just heard the funniest joke, laughing until her whole body shook.

She pointed at Yu Si Niang and said, ”You must be an idiot! You’re just basking in my Third Brother’s glory. You really think you can live a peaceful life at home?

Didn’t you end up just like this woman, the whole family moving off to the county and leaving her alone here to wait on me, feed me, wipe my ass?

You and that slut are all in this together, you all want Da Li to marry that slut so you can profit off it!

I’m telling you, as long as Da Li is my man, he’ll be my man for life. Unless I don’t want him, he doesn’t get to not want me!”

Mu Xiangxiang’s expression was twisted and hideous, like some jumping clown.

Yu Si Niang knew now this person couldn’t be raised right.

She pointed at the doorway. ”You... you get out. This is the territory of our third branch, and our third branch doesn’t allow you in!”

”Heh, a shabby old house, and you think I really care? I’m going to go find that slut right now, I want to see just how she’s stealing my man!”

With that, Mu Xiangxiang left the kitchen of the Third Branch of the Mu Family.

Yu Si Niang was so angry she felt dizzy, her lips kept trembling.

Mrs. Liu’s face was still blank as usual, but that decision she had never quite made before—after hearing what Mu Xiangxiang said, she finally made it!

She was going to sell the Old Mu Family’s house!

”Shuangshuang’s mother, your new house is almost finished, right? When are you moving in?”

Earlier on, the Third Branch of the Mu Family had already started building a new house.

Lots of people in the village, after finishing farm work, would go over there to help.

By this time, the house was actually already built.

Even the furniture had been moved in; they were just waiting to tidy up and then the whole family would move.

Mu Dashan and Yu Si Niang had planned to wait until Mu Shuangshuang came back, then everyone would move in together in high spirits and invite the whole village to a housewarming feast.

Yu Si Niang didn’t overthink it, just said, ”The house is finished, but as for when to move, we’ll have to see what Shuangshuang says when she gets back!

But most likely, we’ll be spending New Year in the new house! Oh, right, Xiaxia’s mother, when are you going to the county?

Now that Xiangxiang’s recovered, according to Mom’s original plan, you all should be heading to the county, right?”
