From Folly to Fortune：I Rewrite My Life After Rebirth!

”Dad, what’s wrong? Why are you staring at this bamboo tube? Is there something wrong with it?” Wen Xiaoya asked, full of curiosity.

Wen Nantian shook his head, ”No, I just feel that the person who prepared this food box was thoughtful. Inside the bamboo tube is hot water, which will keep the temperature of the food from dropping too quickly. Feel the bamboo tube and the dishes; they’re still warm.”

After Wen Nantian finished speaking, Wen Xiaoya immediately placed her hand on the bamboo tube to test it, and the heat inside was still quite apparent.

The warmth from the bowls next to the bamboo tube was also still present.

With this arrangement, even in such cold weather, it’s not a hardship to eat a bowl of hot food.

Wen Xiaoya suddenly felt a bit of warmth in her heart.

This probably isn’t prepared by the restaurant, is it that guy?

It must be that guy! Who would’ve thought, that guy seems like a closed book, yet he’s so thoughtful.

It seems she didn’t waste her breath speaking nicely for him this time.

”Dad, don’t worry about these things, try the taste quickly. If it’s good, why not invite this person to cook for you!”

No, I’ll go to Xing City to have a look again tomorrow.”

Under Wen Xiaoya’s urging, Wen Nantian took out each dish from the lunch box and arranged them on the dining table.

There were three dishes in total: stir-fried chicken, braised rabbit, and soybean sprouts.

Very simple dishes, but the color and smell seemed different from what they used to eat in the past.

Wen Nantian put a piece of chicken into his mouth, and the delicious taste filled his palate. In that instant, Wen Nantian determined that this was the chef he was looking for.

The chicken he tasted was not only fragrant and sweet but also extremely tender, with a very distinct spicy taste.

Much better than the ones he had before.

And the rabbit meat, the mixture of spicy and fragrant flavors made him drool.

Wen Nantian said to Wen Xiaoya: ”Ya’er, this food is indeed delicious, come have some too!”

Wen Xiaoya took Wen Nantian’s chopsticks, picked up a piece of rabbit meat, chewed it twice, and was filled with satisfaction.

”Such level is truly impressive, it can rival the chefs in the Capital! Dad, why don’t we just hire him!”

Wen Nantian nodded in agreement, ”That would be great, but I wonder if this person would be willing to come to the military camp to cook for me!”

Wen Xiaoya said, ”Of course, he will! Dad, you are the captain leading the forces to defend the peace of Xing City. Without your efforts, there would be no way to protect Xing City, and without Xing City being protected, how can they do business here peacefully?

All you ask is for a cook, shouldn’t this small request be met?!

Don’t worry, whatever you want, they will surely offer it. Besides, it’s not like we aren’t paying; whatever he wants, we’ll pay it.”

Upon hearing Wen Xiaoya’s words, Wen Nantian thought there was some sense in them.

A general like himself, can’t he even hire a chef that satisfies him?

”Then I leave this matter to you, if there’s anything difficult, feel free to tell me!” Wen Nantian said.

”Don’t worry, dad, I’ll make sure this matter is handled well for you.”

”Ya’er doing things, dad naturally trusts. But dad also hopes Ya’er doesn’t exhaust herself too much over dad’s matters.”

Wen Nantian’s eyes were filled with affection and love for Wen Xiaoya.

What father doesn’t cherish his daughter?

For the sake of his daughter’s future marriage, he doesn’t even hesitate to use personal feelings in the military camp to challenge his favored subordinates.

Anyway, as long as his daughter has a good life and can marry Lu Yuanfeng, what he’s doing is worth it!

”Not too busy, dad, just trust me.” Wen Xiaoya waved her hand, revealing a Guan Qiao-like smile.

Under Wen Xiaoya’s gaze, Wen Nantian finished all the food in the lunch box, only then did he feel satisfied and full.

This feeling hadn’t happened in a long time.

He became increasingly eager to invite this great chef before him.

...

As Wen Xiaoya left Wen Nantian’s residence, it was already getting late, and she was supposed to return to her tent to rest.

But for her father’s happiness, she decided to visit Lu Yuanfeng to inquire about the chef.

Lu Yuanfeng happened to be awake when Wen Xiaoya arrived.

She had just knocked on the door when Lu Yuanfeng came to open it.

Wen Xiaoya got straight to the point and said: ”Lu Yuanfeng, the food you gave me earlier, which restaurant’s chef in the city prepared it? My dad wants to invite him to the military camp to cook specifically for him.”

Lu Yuanfeng opened his mouth and said: ”This was made by a friend of mine; he’s not a restaurant chef.”

”Your friend?”

Wen Xiaoya furrowed her brows because she suddenly thought, if someone can cook, they must be a woman.

Didn’t they say he’s loyal to his fiancee?

Why is it that after such a short time here, he’s already acquainted with a woman who can cook?

Could this man be insincere too?

Wen Xiaoya felt a little unhappy and sourly said to Lu Yuanfeng: ”A person who can cook, must be a woman, right? Did you go to the county today just to see her?!”

Lu Yuanfeng pondered for a moment on how to answer this question and said: ”My friend is a man, he’s not from Xing City, his family runs a restaurant, and cooking is purely his interest!

This time he came to Xing City on important business, and knowing that Xing Beichen and I are here, he thought of inviting me and Beichen to go out for some good times! Unfortunately, Xing Beichen has been busy with tasks these days, so he couldn’t join.”

Upon hearing it’s not a woman, Wen Xiaoya’s face suddenly regained the smile from when she came.

She said: ”You can help me ask your friend if he’s interested in coming to the military camp to take a look. Wouldn’t he want to earn some money to bring back to his hometown!

If he’s willing, I want to hire him to cook for my dad for a while. Of course, if he wants to leave the military camp and leave Xing City, I definitely won’t stop him.”

Wen Xiaoya’s suggestion was like a windfall to Lu Yuanfeng.

He was worried about how to get Shuangshuang into the military camp, and now such a good opportunity was presented; it seemed even the heavens were helping him!

Moreover, this task is simple, just cooking for Wen Nantian.

Definitely wouldn’t be like being in the military camp, where everything has to be done.

She wouldn’t have to work so hard.

From Lu Yuanfeng’s expression, Wen Xiaoya could tell this matter was negotiable.

”Here’s the deal, early tomorrow morning, go out of the camp, discuss it with him, and if he’s willing, just bring him directly to the camp!”

”Alright!”

”By the way, do you have time off? If not, should I talk to your steward and ask them to give you another day off tomorrow? Make this task impressive, it’s also considered a contribution to the camp.”
