From Folly to Fortune：I Rewrite My Life After Rebirth!

A dinner that Lu Yuanfeng thoroughly enjoyed.

He ate four whole bowls of rice, his belly round and full, yet he still craved more.

Mu Shuangshuang was afraid he’d overeat, so she stopped him from eating more.

”Fengzi, when you come out tomorrow, don’t have breakfast. I’ll make something for you!” Mu Shuangshuang said.

”Alright!”

”By the way, I have a letter from Xiao Nan for Beichen, and some clothes for Beichen as well, they’re in the outer room. I’ll get them for you!”

Lu Yuanfeng noticed that Shuangshuang didn’t bring Xing Beichen’s clothes into her own room, and this detail warmed his heart.

In modern thinking, Mu Shuangshuang’s behavior might seem a bit petty.

But she was happy to do it!

After all, she liked Fengzi, and she didn’t want to touch another man’s things if she could avoid it.

It was a sign of respect for Fengzi.

With the clothes, she clearly explained the letters to Lu Yuanfeng.

Then, she started to analyze his current situation with him.

Xing City is a border town, the closest point between the Da Ning Dynasty and Da Wei.

There are quite a few Da Wei people in the city, similar to what Mu Shuangshuang had read about in books.

The Da Wei people truly are fearless in war, and they have a fighting spirit ingrained in them.

The Da Wei army is certainly not to be underestimated.

War is only a matter of time. Lu Yuanfeng is currently a cook in the Fire Head Army, with no chance of going to the battlefield unless Wen Nantian orders it, or unless the Da Ning Dynasty reaches a point where even cooks are needed on the front lines.

For Lu Yuanfeng, neither scenario is easy.

The latter, especially, is not a good sign!

”In my opinion, we need to either start with Wen Nantian, or with his daughter!” Mu Shuangshuang said.

”Daughter?” For some reason, Lu Yuanfeng suddenly thought of the woman disguised as a man who tried to give him medicinal herbs but whom he refused.

She followed General Wen and, as a woman, she was likely the second miss of the Wen Family.

”Right, Wen Nantian’s goal in oppressing you is simply to make you understand that power can crush people!

And you, if you marry his daughter, you’ll have all of this!” Mu Shuangshuang said.

”But, I’ve told him, I will marry no one but you in this life! How can he...” Lu Yuanfeng looked distressed.

”Years ago, when I met the commander, he wasn’t like that. Back then, he would reassure me, telling me to persevere, that I could definitely serve the country and achieve great things!”

Lu Yuanfeng constantly reminded himself with the words of Wen Nantian from the past, to not do anything that would betray the commander.

But now...

”Fengzi, you’re blinded by a single leaf! Wen Nantian’s intent is easy to guess. It’s likely that he thinks I’m just a village woman, not someone who can compare to his daughter. The reason you say such things is that you’ve only seen village women, not better flowers.”

”No, that’s not it! Even if Shuangshuang is a village woman, she’s still the most beautiful flower in my heart, and no one else can replace her!” Lu Yuanfeng, agitated, rushed to explain even before Mu Shuangshuang finished speaking.

”You fool, I was just giving you a hypothetical scenario, not truly saying I’m a weed! I, the great lady, possess talent, beauty, and wisdom in one, how could I lose to a mere general’s daughter?”

Mu Shuangshuang spoke with some bravado.

But she preferred to call it confidence, a strong confidence!

After Mu Shuangshuang finished speaking, Lu Yuanfeng’s face turned red.

He lowered his head, not daring to look at Mu Shuangshuang.

”Forget it, you silly boy, that’s the proper behavior! But don’t worry too much, if that Wen Family daughter doesn’t fancy you, Wen Nantian will eventually transfer you out!”

Listening to Mu Shuangshuang’s words, Lu Yuanfeng felt a bit deflated.

His future was in the hands of others, unable to move forward or backward.

He felt tied up and extremely uncomfortable.

”Shuangshuang, do you think one’s destiny is in their own hands? Why do I feel powerless and wonder if everything I’m doing is in vain?”

For the first time, Lu Yuanfeng showed a perplexed expression.

Mu Shuangshuang also didn’t know how to explain this problem. She thought for a moment and said: ”It depends on how you see it! If you believe that destiny is in your hands, then it’s in your hands! If you think destiny is predetermined and cannot be changed by human effort, that’s another valid perspective!

It’s like if destiny tells a person they are destined for wealth and fortune, but they choose to end their life; what would happen? They might die, or live a half-life, but it will have an impact.

If destiny tells a beggar that they’ll be a beggar for life, and the beggar refuses to concede and fights hard, what do you think the outcome will be?

However, these are subjective ideas, and your thoughts might just shape the reality!”

Mu Shuangshuang thought what she said might have been a bit profound.

Because after she spoke, Lu Yuanfeng’s expression became even more bewildered.

As she hesitated whether to further explain in hopes of saving the situation, Lu Yuanfeng spoke up: ”Shuangshuang... I understand! I believe destiny is in my hands, and I believe I, Lu Yuanfeng, can achieve great things on the battlefield. Difficulties are just temporary, and I will definitely overcome them!”

Lu Yuanfeng’s words were full of strength.

At this moment, he was filled with power.

He would continue doing well in the kitchen and wouldn’t let his skills decline; once given the opportunity, he would seize it tightly and never let go.

Mu Shuangshuang nodded with satisfaction, this boy was indeed full of positive energy.

She wasn’t wrong about him!

”It’s getting late, I’ll send you to meet that thin man, I’ll wait for you at home, and tomorrow you bring along Beichen and the three of us will have a good meal!” Mu Shuangshuang said.

Lu Yuanfeng nodded heavily.

Though reluctant to part, he knew they’d meet again tomorrow, and he could endure the temporary separation.

At the front yard, just as Lu Yuanfeng was about to open the door, Mu Shuangshuang suddenly said, ”Fengzi...”

Lu Yuanfeng looked at her, Mu Shuangshuang stood on tiptoe and gave Lu Yuanfeng a peck on the cheek, then she was the first to head out.

Leaving Lu Yuanfeng at the doorway, petrified...

Lu Yuanfeng snapped out of his joyful stupor to find Mu Shuangshuang already some distance away.

Closing the door tightly, Lu Yuanfeng ran in Mu Shuangshuang’s direction.

Very soon, the two of them lined up, walking together.

Finally reaching the appointed place, Mu Shuangshuang didn’t go forward, as she didn’t want to cause Fengzi any trouble.

Lu Yuanfeng looked at Mu Shuangshuang not far away and signaled with his eyes for her to head back early.

Mu Shuangshuang shook her head, watching Lu Yuanfeng leave before she turned around and headed back to her own dwelling.

She just didn’t expect that as soon as she arrived, she would see Shen Feng, who had been missing for several days!
