From Folly to Fortune：I Rewrite My Life After Rebirth!

Old Mrs. Mu wanted to sell, while Mr. Mu wanted to keep it.

The two of them were at an impasse for a while.

Uncle Fu, thinking of his promise to Shuangshuang to help acquire the Old Mu Family’s land, said bluntly, ”That girl with the surname Qin probably can’t buy the land!

She is a woman who is neither married into our Er Gui Village nor a relative of ours, and she doesn’t have our household registration, so by rules, she’s not allowed to buy land in our village!”

”I told you! Since Qin Xianglan can’t buy the land, let’s sell all our family’s land! And those few acres of dry land, sell them all, don’t leave a bit!” Old Mrs. Mu said.

”Mom, Xiaxia’s mother is still here, you have to leave two acres of dry land for her to grow vegetables! Otherwise, what will she and Xiangxiang eat?” Mu Dajiang asked.

When Mu Xiangxiang was mentioned, Old Mrs. Mu hesitated.

”How about this, we have a vegetable plot in the back yard, leave half an acre for a vegetable garden! When I leave, I’ll leave 500 copper coins for Xiangxiang. Xiangxiang now only drinks porridge, which probably won’t cost much.

This year’s rice harvest, leave 500 pounds with husk and 200 pounds husked, enough to last until Xiangxiang gets better!

When Xiangxiang recovers, let Mrs. Liu take Xiangxiang to the county!”

Old Mrs. Mu laid out her careful plans.

Except for Mr. Mu, everyone else agreed.

But even if Mr. Mu didn’t agree, it was useless, as Old Mrs. Mu held the land deed.

If she said to sell, she could produce the deed!

If she didn’t, no one else could do anything!

After everyone discussed it, they finally decided to sell.

The leased land for ten years, nearly ten acres, with a ten-year rent of ten taels of silver, they have farmed for two years, and can refund eight taels of silver.

With the remaining eight acres of their own land and some dry land, roughly, they could sell for twenty-eight taels, meaning the Old Mu Family’s entire land could be exchanged for thirty-six taels.

Plus the unharvested rice, this trip could bring forty taels of silver to the county.

Forty taels, enough for the Old Mu Family to live a long time!

Since it was a decided matter, Old Mrs. Mu wasn’t stingy and immediately brought out the land deed.

Uncle Fu looked at the deed, then went back and called the village head and a few elders to notarize it together.

By the afternoon, Uncle Fu took the silver, paid, and got the Old Mu Family’s land deed.

The two sides agreed on this basis, with the original forty taels of money for the sale of the land.

The grain on the Old Mu Family’s land also belonged to Uncle Fu, but he had to separately give five taels of silver plus three thousand pounds of grain to the Old Mu Family.

The Old Mu Family would take two thousand pounds of grain to the county, leaving one thousand pounds for Mrs. Liu and Mu Xiangxiang.

When Old Mrs. Mu received forty-five taels of silver, she felt as if she was floating.

Mr. Mu, however, shed old tears, having guarded his family estate for a lifetime, now it was all gone!

”Old man, the old goes, the new comes; besides, we have forty-five taels of silver, we can buy a house! Who needs land anymore!”

The others in the Old Mu Family looked like they were about to drool.

”Yes, Dad, with this much money, we can go to the county and do a small business. Why not... open a restaurant too? Shuang’s restaurant is booming, we might learn their dishes and open our own!”

Mrs. Lin eagerly suggested.

As soon as she said this, Old Mrs. Mu’s eyes began to shine.

”Yes, old man, with so much silver, doing business could quickly flourish!

If you can’t bear to part with the land, when we get tired of living in the county, we’ll come back and buy our land back!”

Old Mrs. Mu’s naive words made Uncle Fu chuckle.

Mr. Mu’s land already had people eyeing it eagerly.

Even if Shuang didn’t want it, he could quickly transfer it to someone else.

Selling land is easy, buying land is hard!

However, Uncle Fu decided not to tell them this logic.

...

The matter of selling the land was settled, Uncle Fu sent off the village head and a few elders from the village, then left the Old Mu Family, with a pile of land deeds, headed to the third branch.

It was already afternoon and Mu Shuangshuang, having been busy all day, was a bit tired.

But when she saw the land deeds, she was full of energy!

”Take a look, if there’s any of this land you don’t want, pick it out, and I’ll sell it to someone else!”

Mu Shuangshuang looked repeatedly at the land deeds, then shook her head firmly.

”I’ll take them all. How much is all this land?” Mu Shuangshuang asked.

”Here’s the receipt, take a look yourself!” Uncle Fu handed the receipt to Mu Shuangshuang.

Mu Shuangshuang glanced at it, forty-five taels plus three thousand pounds of rice.

”Of the land, ten acres is leased, not bought, and eight years later, you have to return the land.” Uncle Fu explained.

Mu Shuangshuang saw the words on it and nodded.

”Two thousand pounds of rice, Fengzi’s family’s granary has it, I can give it right away! As for the silver, Uncle Fu, wait for me a moment!”

The two spoke in the kitchen.

So, Mu Shuangshuang returned to her room and came out again with a small red cloth bag, containing silver for Uncle Fu and his commission.

”Uncle Fu, I’ll give you one and a half taels of silver as commission, just let me know when you need the rice and I’ll open the granary for you!” Mu Shuangshuang said.

Uncle Fu didn’t count the silver, took the cloth bag, and told Mu Shuangshuang, ”I’ll finish the remaining paperwork, register and record everything, and once that’s done, I’ll give you the proof!”

”Okay, thank you Uncle Fu!” Mu Shuangshuang said.

”By the way, Shuangshuang, the fields you acquired need to be harvested soon, and your family is busy building a house. Won’t you be short on manpower?” Uncle Fu asked.

”I’ll hire someone! No worries, Uncle Fu!”

Mu Shuangshuang hadn’t intended to tackle the task herself. Moreover, the land came at the perfect time.

Once the Old Mu Family leaves, even if she’s not in the village anymore, her parents, with those lands, won’t be living worse than anyone else.

And with her gone, the new house for her family would probably be built.

The big warehouse will also be established along with it; in short, the days for the third branch will only get better!

”I’ll head off first, later, tell the old man about it, he’ll be delighted!”

Buying fields and land is indeed a joyous occasion!

They should invite familiar friends for a meal or something. Mu Shuangshuang thought she might as well make a delicious meal, bring Wei Dacong over from town.

And invite the staff from the restaurant, as a reward for everyone’s efforts in recent times.

”Take care, Uncle Fu!”

After sending off Uncle Fu, Mu Shuangshuang began organizing her land deeds, she had quite a few of them, not only hers but also from Fengzi.

Counting them all, she now had more land than Wang Fugui’s father!
