Chapter 345: Chapter 28 Family Meeting

“A family meeting? Is it being convened?” Hearing Shangguan Fei’er mention the family meeting, Lin Feng recalled what she had told him more than a year ago.

Shangguan Fei’er nodded and said, “Father said he wants to nominate me as the successor during the family meeting, and I will take control of the Mercenary Association in the future.”

Lin Feng embraced Shangguan Fei’er’s delicate body in his arms and said, “The president of the True Martial Country’s Mercenary Association will become a peerless beauty like you; I wonder how many people will rush to join the Mercenary Association.”

“How annoying,” Shangguan Fei’er pouted.

Lin Feng asked, “When will it take place?”

“The day after tomorrow, in the morning!” Shangguan Fei’er replied.

“I’ll also go to support you and use the opportunity to meet your mother,” Lin Feng said with a smile.

Shangguan Fei’er’s pretty face blushed instantly, and she murmured, “Sure, mother will be very happy to meet you.”

Seeing Shangguan Fei’er’s shy demeanor, Lin Feng felt a surge of wicked heat rising in his belly; he directly picked up Shangguan Fei’er and walked toward the bed.

Shangguan Fei’er, knowing what Lin Feng intended to do, struggled with a flushed face, “No, it’s daytime, people will hear us, and how could I face anyone then?”

“Everyone’s gone to participate in the Mountain River List competition, what’s there to fear? Doing it during the day is the fun part,” Lin Feng said with a laugh.

Soon after, the room echoed with the sounds of Shangguan Fei’er’s soft moans…

…

Late at night.

Shangguan Mo and Great Elder Shangguan Qian came to Shangguan Zhengxiong’s room together.

Ever since Shangguan Zhengxiong got injured, the Great Elder Lineage had been eyeing the Clan Leader position.

Seeing his son coming over with Shangguan Qian, Shangguan Zhengxiong couldn’t help but frown slightly.

“What brings you here in the dead of night?” Shangguan Zhengxiong asked.

“For tomorrow’s family meeting,” Shangguan Qian said with a smile.

“Oh?” Shangguan Zhengxiong raised his eyebrows and said, “What does the Great Elder want to say?”

“The Clan Leader’s health is deteriorating; tomorrow, we should choose a successor,” Shangguan Qian said with a smile.

“I already have someone in mind for that, and I will announce it at tomorrow’s family meeting,” Shangguan Zhengxiong said, then suddenly began to cough violently.

Shangguan Qian quickly signaled to Shangguan Mo; Shangguan Mo quickly stepped forward, supported Shangguan Zhengxiong, and said, “Father, are you alright? Let me help you rest for a bit.”

Shangguan Zhengxiong felt somewhat gratified and thought to himself that Mo’er still knew how to care for him after all his patient guidance.

After rectifying Mo’er’s character, he indeed needed to entrust him with great responsibilities to assist Fei’er in the future.

Shangguan Mo was assisting Shangguan Zhengxiong towards the inner chamber.

At that moment, Shangguan Qian made his move, striking a palm toward Shangguan Zhengxiong from behind.

Shangguan Zhengxiong, having strong cultivation, already felt the presence behind him. His face changed, and he tried to retaliate, but Shangguan Mo firmly grasped his hands.

“Mo’er, you…” Shangguan Zhengxiong looked at Shangguan Mo in disbelief.

“Dad, you’re so grievously wounded, and the old ailment has recurred. Your passing would break my heart,” Shangguan Mo said with a sinister smile.

Bang.

Shangguan Qian’s strike slammed brutally into Shangguan Zhengxiong, sending him flying.

Wow.

Shangguan Zhengxiong spat out three mouthfuls of fresh blood and fell to the ground. He pointed his finger at Shangguan Mo, his eyes not filled with anger, but with endless sorrow.

Despite all his calculations,

he had never anticipated falling at the hands of his own son.

Shangguan Zhengxiong lay on the ground, motionless.

Shangguan Qian stepped forward, checked his breath, and slightly furrowed his brow.

“Is he dead?” Shangguan Mo asked.

“He’s still alive, but he might as well be a living dead. It’s better not to kill him directly. Old injuries have flared up, turning him into a living dead. Move him to the bed and have someone look after him. Without our orders, no one is allowed to see him,”

Shangguan Qian said coldly with a sneer.

Shangguan Mo nodded and tossed Shangguan Zhengxiong onto the bed like a dead corpse, not deigning to look at him again.

Shangguan Mo said, “Whether I can become the Clan Leader tomorrow depends entirely on the Great Elder.”

Shangguan Qian grinned slightly and said, “Now that Shangguan Zhengxiong has become a living dead, who else can contend with us? As for that Shangguan Fei’er, a mere girl, without Shangguan Zhengxiong’s support, what is she? The position of Clan Leader is definitely Young Master Mo’s.”

“That couldn’t be better,” Shangguan Mo said, his face lighting up with wild joy.

However, Shangguan Qian sneered repeatedly in his heart, “You fool, becoming the Clan Leader is just my puppet, and the great power of the Shangguan Family and control of the Mercenary Association will finally fall into my hands.”

…

Early the next day, Lin Feng headed towards the direction of the Shangguan Family.

At the same time, the family meeting of the Shangguan Family was officially convened, with all sixteen elders of the Shangguan Family present.

Besides the sixteen elders, Shangguan Mo, Shangguan Fei’er, and Shangguan Li, the children of the three Clan Leaders, had all made their appearances.

“I think it’s getting late, let’s start now,” Shangguan Qian said indifferently.

Fifth Elder Shangguan Ren said, “The Clan Leader has yet to arrive, what’s the rush?”

At that moment, Shangguan Mo said, “Hehe, before the family meeting, my father mentioned he was feeling unwell and would not attend this meeting. He has entrusted the Great Elder Shangguan Qian to preside over this family meeting.”

“What?” Shangguan Fei’er and Shangguan Ren, along with other members of the Clan Leader’s line, all slightly changed their expressions.

Shangguan Fei’er said, “Father attaches great importance to this family meeting, how could he be absent? I will go see Father.”

Shangguan Fei’er got up and started to walk towards the outside.

Shangguan Mo sneered, “Come.”

Swoosh…

Instantly, over a dozen weapon-wielding Shangguan Family experts blocked the exit.

“What does this mean, Shangguan Mo?” Shangguan Fei’er said coldly.

Shangguan Mo didn’t speak, but Shangguan Qian said, “Young Master Mo has just explained, this family meeting is presided over by me, so please Miss Fei’er, take your seat.”

Shangguan Fei’er’s face changed between clearness and shadow, looking terribly grim.

But she was powerless to change the situation and could only sigh before returning to her seat.

“This meeting will propose a new candidate for Clan Leader, and my proposed candidate is Shangguan Mo!”

Great Elder Shangguan Qian’s lips curled into a cold sneer.

Meanwhile, Lin Feng had already reached the outside of the Shangguan Family.

“You there, stop,” a guard stopped Lin Feng.

Lin Feng said, “My name is Lin Feng, your Miss Fei’er had me come here, she must have already informed you.”

“What Lin Feng? We are men of the Great Elder, not Shangguan Fei’er’s, she cannot command us, get as far away as you can, otherwise, don’t blame us for being rude,” the captain of the guards sneered.

Lin Feng frowned immediately, he had heard from Shangguan Fei’er that the Great Elder Shangguan Qian had always been coveting the position of Clan Leader, and at this critical moment of the family meeting, how could it be Shangguan Qian responsible for guarding the Shangguan Family?

“Could something have happened?” Lin Feng’s expression suddenly changed.

He quickly walked towards the Shangguan Family mansion.

“Kid, looking for death.”

The captain of the guard shouted angrily, and a palm struck out at Lin Feng.

Lin Feng extended his right hand, weaving out a dense web of Thunder power.

Bang. The guard captain was blasted away, his body’s bones broken in countless places, he fell to the ground, possibly dead or alive.

“Whoever dares to stop me, dies!” A chilling, bone-penetrating voice rang out.
