I Sell Mobile Phones Like a Swindler, and Customers Beg Me Not to Go Out of Business

144: Chapter 144 What’s Wrong with Being a Copyist for a Day?On Weibo, the official promotional account for the singer also launched a poll: ”Who do you hope to invite to participate in the next episode of the singer to defend the dignity of the Chinese music scene? Please cast your precious vote and tell us your thoughts! We will do our best to invite the singer with the most votes!”

For this poll launched by the official promotional account, users could edit the voting options themselves, and others could vote on these options, giving netizens plenty of freedom of choice.

At the beginning, the tone of the poll was quite normal. Basically, all the names that appeared were big shots well-known in the music industry, with first-class singing skills. If they were invited to come out of retirement, even if they didn’t crush the foreign contestants, they wouldn’t embarrass the Chinese music scene too much.

But before long, the list was ruined. Some talented netizen uploaded the name of Bai Jingqing, accompanied by his signature work, the meme song ”Are you ok.”

Seeing this, netizens stopped voting seriously and started joining in on the meme, casting their votes for Bai Jingqing.

”This little singer named Bai Jingqing has a decent debut work, ’Are you ok,’ both in terms of creative ability and influence. But he is a bit too unproductive. For such a long time, Bai Jingqing hasn’t made any moves, so there’s no way he can become a massive hit in the music industry. I advise this little singer to play less and produce more works; don’t let your talent go to waste.”

”I also think it’s time for Boss Bai to come out and do some activities to give back to his fans!”

”That’s right, that’s right, it’s so unfair! As a user of Boss Bai’s devices, I can often see the products brought by Boss Bai, such as the newly released Huawei P10 from two days ago, which received a lot of praise in the tech community. They are truly so happy. But isn’t Boss Bai being a bit biased? Don’t forget that you are still a singer! There are many fans who love listening to you sing! Regardless, it’s time to give some benefits to us fans!”

”Brothers and sisters, with your vote and my vote, Boss Bai will debut tomorrow! Please, everyone, cast your votes for Boss Bai! I’m bowing to you all!”

”This poll was initiated by the official team of the singer, which means the official team can see our efforts! As long as everyone works hard enough, perhaps our singer Boss Bai will really be able to stand on this stage!”

”Have you voted for Boss Bai today? Let’s work together to vote for Boss Bai; I hope he can stand on the stage of the singer!”

...

Netizens nowadays just like to find some entertainment. Hearing that a mobile phone boss was being voted by numerous netizens to participate in a music variety show, they all rushed over to join in the fun.

Thinking of Bai Jingqing standing on the stage of the singer and passionately singing ”Are you ok” to win glory for the country, they all found it very funny. This further stimulated their desire to vote for Bai Jingqing.

In the end, Boss Bai seemed to have really become an entertainment star in some fandom, with countless fans voting for him. When he even went viral, many people were puzzled about who this Boss Bai was, thinking he was just another traffic star.

Finally, the dust settled. Relying on his signature work ”Are you ok,” Bai Jingqing’s votes led other contestants by a landslide! Now things had really gotten interesting! A group of netizens, loving to watch the chaos, were all waiting to see how the official team of the singer would handle it.

...

the singer production team. When the director saw the voting results, he couldn’t help but laugh.

”Netizens really know how to stir things up these days. Inviting an entrepreneur to sing on our stage—just thinking about it creates such a contrast!”

He couldn’t help but sigh, wanting to skip the Bai Jingqing option and look at the rankings of the serious singers below. However, this thought kept lingering in his mind. Perhaps... perhaps he could really invite Bai Jingqing to the stage of the singer? If this could come true, the program’s effect would be absolutely explosive!

Although on the singer, the Dragon Kingdom singers were being beaten to a pulp by foreign singers, the director didn’t feel uncomfortable at all; on the contrary, he felt quite good! However, he was not a traitor; he was just frustrated by their lack of progress!

The entertainment industry of the Dragon Kingdom had been a stagnant pool for so long; it was time to throw a few stones into this stagnant water to splash some ripples. Previous music variety shows were all pre-recorded, and the live performances of the singers broadcasted were all pitch-corrected. Over time, these singers really started to think they were good! They didn’t want to improve their singing skills, but instead spent their days appearing on various variety shows to cash in. Among them, the appearance fees for a few young idols participating in the singer were quite high, and the key was that their attitudes were extremely arrogant, which really disgusted the director.

In fact, the accident where domestic singers had a ”car crash” live performance was intentional on the director’s part. Now his goal had been achieved, and as for which star from the Chinese music scene he should invite to save the day, he didn’t care. Moreover, inviting Bai Jingqing would surely make the live broadcast effect explosive, which could take the show’s popularity to the next level. This was what was more important to the director!

Besides, it was voted for by the netizens themselves; he was just following the wishes of the netizens, so what fault did he have? After some thought, the director felt it was actually feasible! The only point of concern was, would Bai Jingqing come? He was a well-known domestic entrepreneur, with two major companies, Huayao and ByteDance, under his belt, and even more mobile phone sub-brands like Huawei, Honor, and Xiaomi. He was probably busy with a thousand tasks every day. Would he be willing to take the time to participate in the singer?

Thinking so much was useless, so the director directly sent an invitation to Bai Jingqing, saying he was the hope of the masses and that netizens were all hoping he would come out to save the day, and only he could save the current declining state of the Chinese music scene...

Bai Jingqing originally didn’t want to participate in such a boring program, but after being labeled with all sorts of ”big hats,” even he had to carefully consider it. Moreover, the director of the singer also promised to help advertise Huayao Phone for free. Huayao happened to have a series of new phones to be released, and Bai Jingqing was actually tempted. This was a very popular music variety show, which was a very good opportunity for exposure.

”If you, Boss Bai, are unwilling to come, then the champion of our the singer this year will be taken away by foreigners! By the way, Boss Bai, can you sing?” Seeing that Bai Jingqing was still hesitating, the director continued to persuade him. But this last question made Bai Jingqing a bit defensive. You don’t even know if I can sing, yet you are thinking of letting me save the day and take the championship back from the foreigners?

However, he suddenly realized that the director inviting him to go, asking him to save the day, was fake; riding on his traffic was the truth. But he did know a little bit about singing, and coupled with the fact that he had transmigrated from the future, what was the harm in being a literary plagiarist for once?
