62: Chapter 62 Xue Haixin Goes Mad at Shareholders’ MeetingXue Haixin had indeed been very troubled lately.

He was currently overwhelmed by problems.

The issues facing him were both tricky and urgent.

It was tricky because he actually didn’t know what method to use to counter Bai Jingqing’s xiaomi 5.

Moreover, he had made a wrong decision at the time,

thinking that the ideal a8 Pro, with its excellent gaming performance,

as the first flagship phone focused on gaming performance,

would have fantastic sales,

so he had produced a massive quantity.

The urgency came from the fact that the advertisements for the ideal a8 Pro were already out,

the pre-launch hype had been going on for so long,

and according to the scheduled date,

the Launch Event was about to be held.

But looking at the current situation,

was there even a point in holding the Launch Event?

Should the content of the Launch Event be changed?

For instance, at least regarding the price?

It was foreseeable that,

with the xiaomi 5’s continuous explosive popularity nationwide,

if he still maintained such a high selling price,

it would be difficult to sell even a single unit of the ideal a8 Pro.

“I really didn’t expect someone to jump out of nowhere and ruin everything,

running into such a cursed thing as the xiaomi 5!

Who the hell would have thought that the already bankrupt Huayao Technology could still make a final struggle!”

However, just as Xue Haixin had said before,

Li Xiang Phone absolutely could not easily lower its prices.

If he directly cut the price of the ideal a8 Pro, claimed to be Ideal’s top flagship,

just to compete with the xiaomi 5,

once the price dropped, it would be hard to raise it back up,

and one could even say the li xiang a-series product line would be ruined.

Price reductions have a massive impact on a brand’s high-end image.

So now, Xue Haixin was left with only two paths.

The first path was to ignore future consequences,

disregard the impact of price cuts on Li Xiang Phone’s image and positioning for now,

and directly drop the price to the same level as the xiaomi 5.

In that case, with Li Xiang Phone’s brand power,

it should be able to go toe-to-toe with the xiaomi 5.

But competing is one thing;

dropping the price by so much

would inevitably lead to losses,

and the impact on the brand was also inevitable.

The second path was to keep everything unchanged,

maintain the current pricing,

and hold the Launch Event as planned.

But if he did that,

he had to be prepared for the possibility of not selling a single phone.

It seemed like every path was a dead end,

and every path would lead to massive losses.

After realizing how serious the problem was,

the shareholders of Li Xiang Technology also grew anxious.

One by one, they began calling Xue Haixin,

urging him, questioning him, and holding him accountable.

Now, Xue Haixin not only had to think about how to deal with the current situation,

but also had to deal with the shareholders’ interrogations,

which truly made his life miserable.

“These people are a bunch of ungrateful bastards,

why didn’t they say anything when we were making money?

Now that we’re about to lose a little money,

each one of them is as frantic as if I’d killed their parents!

Those sons of bitches!”

Xue Haixin cursed under his breath.

However, even a cornered dog will jump over a wall,

and in this moment of crisis,

Xue Haixin actually managed to think of another path!

He immediately made a decision: the Launch Event would proceed as planned,

and the price of the ideal a8 Pro announced at the event would remain unchanged,

but the subsequent price given to distributors would be kept at a level similar to the xiaomi 5.

This way, the impact of the price cut on the brand image could be mitigated to some extent,

and by supplying the dealers at a price similar to the xiaomi 5,

those dealers should still be very willing to purchase,

and many consumers should also be willing to pay.

After all, as a giant among domestic phones,

Ideal still had considerable reputation in the domestic mobile phone market.

Although this was equivalent to swallowing his pride and suffering in silence,

appearing prestigious on the surface

while actually incurring countless losses.

Thinking about how he would have to stand on stage during the Launch Event,

knowing full well that the ideal a8 Pro’s performance wasn’t the strongest,

knowing full well its sales wouldn’t be great,

yet still having to pretend to be extremely confident in the ideal a8 Pro,

Xue Haixin couldn’t help but lament: “Life is like a play, it all depends on the acting!”

But there was no other way;

after repeated consideration,

this seemed to be the best path.

He would recover as much loss as possible!

More and more shareholders were dissatisfied with Xue Haixin’s decision-making,

and under their joint resolution,

a shareholders’ meeting was specifically convened for this matter.

At the meeting, Xue Haixin humbly apologized to the shareholders for his mistake,

and then presented his carefully considered plan.

However, those shareholders didn’t seem to buy it,

and most of them were still very dissatisfied.

Someone questioned him, saying, “Chairman Xue, I find your business sense to be deathly dull.

Why didn’t you discover earlier that a phone with such sales potential as the xiaomi 5 existed on the market?

Why did you decisively determine the production volume of the ideal a8 Pro

without even conducting a bit of market research?”

Before Xue Haixin could answer,

someone else immediately stood up and added: “Although the plan you’ve just mentioned seems to be the best option currently,

I still have doubts about your ability.

Regarding this matter,

I hope you can give the Board of Directors a good explanation.

And regarding the company losses caused by this,

I hope you will take responsibility voluntarily.”

Xue Haixin frowned at this moment,

a nameless fire of rage rising in his heart.

Damn it!

Take responsibility my ass!

I worked my tail off to come up with this plan,

and not a single one of you cares!

Even now, you don’t care about what to do next,

you’re still asking about responsibility!

The Launch Event is imminent,

the situation is fucking critical,

and you’re still here thinking about assigning blame,

even wanting to shove all the blame onto me!

“Get out! All of you get out!”

At this point, the more Xue Haixin thought, the angrier he got,

his mind completely occupied by these negative emotions,

until he finally exploded.

He let out a hysterical roar,

the veins on his neck clearly visible,

his entire person fuming with rage.

However, this was a shareholders’ meeting,

and those present were shareholders holding a significant proportion of the company’s shares;

they were not subordinates who would normally swallow their pride and listen to his scolding.

The company’s shareholders were startled by Xue Haixin’s roar at first,

but they quickly became indifferent to his outburst,

each sitting in their seats watching coldly,

as if watching a clown,

or some kind of animal performance.

Seeing that his anger received no response,

Xue Haixin realized his loss of composure

and felt a tightness in his chest,

as if a mouthful of blood was being pushed right up to his throat.

He slammed the plan heavily onto the table,

then leaned back into his seat,

the rise and fall of his chest showing that he was trying hard to restrain his emotions.

Seeing that he had quieted down a bit,

a shareholder below spoke up: “Chairman Xue,

your emotional control is just as terrible as your market sense.

For a director of a company,

the qualities we expect are rationality, restraint, and a sense of responsibility,

not shouting and screaming here.

We now find it necessary to consider whether to elect the next director of the company.”
