Lackey's Seducing Survival Odyssey

Chapter 816: Did I just hook up #### with my husband!?

A few hours earlier, after Aether and Xara went on a date, Delphine finally returned to the house after hours of continuous work.

However, she was not happy at all...

Not because of the work... maybe that too, but more importantly—

”I cannot believe Sister-in-law actually adopted Aether as her son,” Delphine muttered under her breath, her teeth gritted in sheer disbelief.

She still couldnʼt wrap her head around it.

How could this have happened?

How could her sister-in-law make such a decision without even considering her feelings?

The moment she had heard the news, she wanted to rush back home as soon as possible, but her responsibilities had held her back.

The Empress had gone somewhere unknown, leaving the entire Empire in a fragile state. As one of the generals, Delphine had no choice but to stay behind, working tirelessly to maintain stability.

There had been no room for rest, no moment of respite.

Now, finally, after what felt like forever, she had a short window of relief. And she wasnʼt going to waste it.

She needed answers!

She needed to understand what the hell was going on in this house!!

As she walked through the corridor, she suddenly noticed something unusual. Alfred and Timmy were kneeling on the ground, their expressions grim.

She narrowed her eyes. ”Hmm? Whatʼs going on here? Why are you two kneeling?” she asked, her voice carrying a sharp edge.

Alfred merely lowered his head further, refusing to speak a word.

Delphineʼs frown deepened. She let out an annoyed sigh before shrugging. Whatever it was, she didnʼt have time to deal with these people right now. Without another glance, she continued walking toward Velcʼs office.

The moment she stepped in, she didnʼt bother with pleasantries. ”Where is Sister-in-law?” she demanded, her voice laced with irritation.

Velc barely spared her a glance before turning back to his paperwork. ”I donʼt know...” he replied flatly.

Delphine clenched her jaw. ”She took Aether as her son? Is that true?”

Velc exhaled slowly before responding, ”That was her decision. I have nothing to do with it.” His voice was devoid of any emotion as if he had already resigned himself to whatever chaos was happening.

His lack of reaction made Delphineʼs irritation spike further.

Velc, however, wasnʼt even paying attention to her anymore. His mind was occupied with something far more pressing. He had already suffered enough. First, his wife had slapped him in front of their children, and then some filthy bastard had the audacity to throw shit at him.

He had reached a point where he simply didnʼt care anymore.

And yet, deep down, he knew there was still one way to salvage his name, to reclaim some dignity. He had to ensure that Victor married Selene. That was the only path left for him. Now, he just had to find a way to make Xara accept it.

Delphine scoffed. ”Tsk, useless,” she muttered before turning on her heels and storming out of the room. If Velc wasnʼt going to be of any help, she would find Aether herself.

Yet, after searching the entire house, she found no sign of him. Her frustration only grew. ”Where is he? What is going on here?” she murmured, her expression darkening with worry.

Just as she was about to start searching elsewhere, she caught sight of Selene sitting in the garden.

The younger girl was calmly sipping tea, her expression serene, almost unnaturally so. It was as if she had achieved some kind of enlightenment.

Delphineʼs brows furrowed. ”What happened to her?” she muttered to herself before making her way over.

If anyone had answers, it would be Selene.

Meanwhile, Selene sat completely still, her mind wandering to dangerous places.

She was reflecting on her life, on her existence... searching for meaning...

ʼInner peace... Inner peace...ʼ

And then, like a slap to the face, reality hit her.

ʼI just hooked up my mother with my husband, didnʼt I?ʼ

The thought appeared so suddenly in her mind, and it hit much harder than she expected. And yet, outwardly, she remained composed, her face a mask of calmness, as if she was on the verge of reaching some divine pinnacle of wisdom.

ʼInner peace... Inner peace...ʼ

She reaching again enlightenment!

But then,

”Sel, have you seen your mother?”

Delphineʼs voice cut through her trance, making her blink. Selene looked up at her, mildly dazed.

Delphine frowned, immediately noticing how strange Selene was acting. ”You alright? You look... weird,” she added, tilting her head slightly.

Selene hummed, her fingers lightly tapping the edge of her teacup, ”My mother... Iʼm not sure about that...” she muttered, her voice distant.

The mere mention of her mother sent her spiralling again.

What was she supposed to call her now? Sister? Mother? Something in between?

Her entire world was collapsing around her, and she wasnʼt sure how to handle it.

Delphineʼs frown deepened. ”What the hell happened to you?” she murmured under her breath before shaking her head.

”Anyway, I heard your mother took Aether as her son... Is that true? Why didnʼt you object to it? You know I wanted him as my son, right?” Her voice was laced with irritation as if she was barely holding back her frustration.

Selene let out a dry chuckle. ”Do you really think I could oppose my mother?” she asked, her expression one of pure defeat.

Delphine clicked her tongue. ”I get that itʼs difficult, but still, you couldʼve at least tried your best until I got here, right?”

Selene shook her head. ”It happened so fast... It all went down in a single damn dinner...” she grumbled, her voice filled with sheer disbelief. She already felt like her world was falling apart with her mother and husband growing closer, and now this?

This just added fuel to the fire, making her feel even more powerless.

ʼStill... I will take him back... I will...ʼ

Selene clenched her fists under the table, her nails digging into her palms as she made a silent vow to herself.

Delphine studied her for a moment before nodding. ʼLooks like I need to talk to Sister-in-law directly...ʼ she thought as she turned to leave. But just as she was about to step away, something crossed her mind.

”You... I heard your father is arranging a marriage for you with Victor?” Delphine asked, her tone hesitant, almost cautious.

Selene visibly flinched.

Then, after a moment of silence, she slowly looked up at Delphine, an unreadable glint in her eyes. And then—she grinned.

”Yes! Of course! Weʼre going to get married~ and have lots and lots of children~ fu~fu~” she sang sweetly, her voice dripping with an eerie playfulness.

Delphineʼs body twitched slightly as if she was physically holding herself back from reacting. After a long, deep breath, she finally sat down on the chair beside Selene. Her expression was calm, but her tone carried a hint of exasperation.

”Selene... you need to think this through carefully. Youʼre still young. You have plenty of time to figure things out. Donʼt rush into marriage just because someone else is pushing you toward it. Look at me—focus on your ambitions first, then worry about everything else. Okay?” Like a good aunt, she offered her advice...

Thatʼs what others think... only Aunt know her two wicked thoughts~

Selene gave her an annoyed, deadpan look as if she had been expecting something a little more profound from her.

Selene sighed, ”Iʼve already thought this through, Aunt… and I truly believe heʼs the one.

Besides, itʼs not like I wonʼt be able to focus on my ambitions just because Iʼm married to him. If anything, he actually supports me in whatever I choose to do, even after marriage,” she stated confidently, her voice carrying unwavering determination.

Inwardly, however, she clenched her fists, her true thoughts spilling out like a secret whisper only she could hear.

ʼTo be honest… my ambition is to marry him first! And after that, everything else will fall into place!ʼ

Delphine narrowed her eyes as she caught sight of Seleneʼs clenched fists, noticing just how tightly they were balled up. It was as if the girl was ready to fight the entire world just to keep him by her side.

ʼJust how deeply has she fallen for him?ʼ Delphine thought, gritting her teeth in frustration. Seeing that reasoning with Selene directly was getting her nowhere, she decided to take a different approach, one that might shake her up a little.

”You do realize something, donʼt you?” Delphine began, leaning slightly forward with a knowing expression. ”Heʼs an Emperor. And you know what that means, right? An Emperor never has just one wife. Which means… you wouldnʼt be the only wom—”

”Of course,” Selene interrupted, nodding with certainty before Delphine could even finish her sentence.

”H-Huh?”

Selene grinned, tilting her head slightly. ”I already knew all of this… Thatʼs why I agreed in the first place. I was fully aware of the circumstances from the beginning.”

Delphine felt her brain short-circuit for a moment. ”Wait… Are you serious? Youʼre really fine with that? Arenʼt you even a little worried that another woman might take him away from you?” she asked, her voice slightly unsteady, unable to believe what she was hearing.

Selene chuckled, shaking her head as if Delphine had just said something completely absurd. ”What are you talking about? Of course, we love each other! Thereʼs no way another woman could take him from me,” she said confidently, almost as if it were a fact written in stone, unchangeable and absolute.

Delphine clenched her jaw. She was getting frustrated—no, infuriated and furious!

How could Selene not see the reality of the situation? How could she be so blind?

She needed to stop this girl before it was too late!

Meanwhile, Selene was having a completely different crisis of her own.

ʼI cannot fucking believe this! That damn log actually made Aetherʼs mission about seducing not just my mother… but now my aunt too!?ʼ

Her eye twitched violently as she exhaled sharply through her nose, trying to contain the sheer disbelief that was rising within her when Aether told her to watch over her aunt!!

What the hell was wrong with this mission!?

What next? Would it suddenly drop the ultimate bombshell—telling her that her grandmother, who everyone assumed was long dead, was actually alive all this time… and that Aether was somehow supposed to seduce her too!?

Seleneʼs expression twisted in sheer disbelief.

ʼNo way… I mean, come on, that would never happen. Iʼve already seen her! Sheʼs a really old woman! Heck, she might actually die if he kisses her!!ʼ she screamed inwardly, trying to push away the ridiculous thought before it consumed her.

But before she could fully recover from that horrifying mental image—

”Come on, Selene. I never thought you would be this delusional,” Delphine said suddenly, her tone dark and serious. ”One day, your so-called love will fade. He will lose interest in you, and sooner or later, he will start searching for another woman. Thatʼs just how it is, no matter how much you believe otherwise.”

Seleneʼs eye twitched again, ʼLook at bitch... trying her hard to hog him all of her self... Fuck you bitch~ Thatʼs not going to happen~ʼ she screamed inwardly before saying, almost irritated look,

”Stop it, Aunt. Youʼve never been in love before, so why are you talking like—”

BAM!

A loud, sudden slam echoed through the room as Delphineʼs palm came crashing down onto the table.

Her patience had officially run out!!

Her eyes burned with an intense, deadly seriousness as she spoke through gritted teeth, ”Iʼm telling you—do not get involved with that bastard!”

And with that, she spun around and stormed off, her heavy footsteps echoing behind her.

Selene remained seated, staring at Delphineʼs retreating back with an amused glint in her eyes, unable to hold back the smirk creeping onto her lips.

Then, she chuckled,

”Iʼm not delusional, Aunt… Iʼm just speaking the truth,” she called out, her voice smooth and unwavering,

”The real delusion is when a woman thinks she can keep a great man all to herself. Thatʼs simply not possible, no matter how much she tries to control him. Another woman will always enter his life. And if that woman clings too tightly—tries to keep him chained down—then, Aunt… he will betray her behind her back. Itʼs inevitable.

As for me… Iʼd rather accept it openly rather than let it happen in secret. After all, wouldnʼt it be better to welcome them through the front door instead of letting them sneak in through the back?” She paused, then chuckled darkly,

”And trust me… if there is a woman in Victorʼs life who foolishly believes she can keep him all to herself… Haha… itʼll be all too easy for me to take him from her! Foolish girl~”

Her voice grew a little louder at the end, almost like a challenge, as if daring someone to contradict her words.

Delphineʼs footsteps suddenly came to a halt... as if an invisible arrow stuck in her heart!

Standing frozen for a moment, she bit her lower lip furiously, her nails digging into her palm as she processed Seleneʼs words.

What Selene had just said… It was ridiculous. Completely absurd.

And yet…

Her mind involuntarily wandered back to Aether.

To how much he had changed. How much he had grown.

And then… a dangerous little question crept into the corner of her mind.

ʼWhat if…?ʼ

Delphineʼs face paled slightly, her breath hitching for a brief moment. Without another word, she turned and walked away, her thoughts in turmoil, as if she had just glimpsed something she wasnʼt ready to acknowledge.

Meanwhile, Selene watched her go, her lips slowly smirked... Grinned!

In truth, what she had just said was complete and utter nonsense to some extent. Even she knew that. But seeing Delphineʼs reaction… seeing the cracks forming in her usually unshakable demeanor… Selene couldnʼt help herself.

”Hehehe~”

It was almost as if she was slowly turning into a second Aether… or something even worse?

But then—

Wait!

Wait a damn second!!

Her entire body stiffened, and her eyes widened in horror as the realization hit her like a ton of bricks.

”Wait… Did I—did I just hook up my aunt with my husband!?”
