The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 358: Chapter 358: Devious Methods

Luo Jia looked at Xia Wenjin disapprovingly.

This little girl is impolite.

What does it mean to not pay attention?

What are they being taken for?

She said to not pay attention, and sure enough, Ying Feng ignored them, as if they didn’t exist.

Yu Shikui and Kong Tixin were both squeezed to the side.

Yu Shikui’s face was livid.

Kong Tixin immediately whispered, ”Sir, there’s no need to stoop to the level of these inconsiderate people, these unruly villagers are blind!”

What infuriated Yu Shikui more were those Imperial Physicians. Although Luo Jia was the Deputy Director of the Imperial Hospital, he was just a Fourth Rank official. Yu Shikui was the Northern County Magistrate, also of the Fourth Rank. But look at Luo Jia, after just greeting him at the start, he didn’t even bother to acknowledge him again.

What are these ignorant unruly villagers compared to them? Even people like Luo Jia are blind!

Ying Feng led the way, Xia Wenjin in front, while Luo Jia and his group followed grumpily.

Although Ying Feng was attentive, he seemed like he had something to say. After walking a long stretch, he finally asked, ”Miss Xia, I heard you’re leaving?”

Xia Wenjin replied, ”Mm!”

A hint of shyness suddenly appeared on Ying Feng’s face. He carefully stole a glance at Xia Wenjin, and gathering his courage, he finally said, ”Miss Xia, can you take me as your apprentice?”

This statement startled Luo Jia and others.

Previously, they had seen Ying Feng’s medical skills outside; although not top-notch, they were not inferior to the average Imperial Physician in the Imperial Hospital. Such a person actually wanted to take a young girl as his master?

Luo Jia and the others exchanged glances, initially in disbelief, then with sudden realization.

Yes, if this young girl comes from an extraordinary background, this grey-clad young man must be trying to establish a master-apprentice relationship to climb the social ladder, perhaps even aiming to become an Imperial Physician.

Xia Wenjin was also very surprised and laughed, ”Ying Feng, I’m still learning myself, how could I take on an apprentice?”

Ying Feng replied, ”Your medical skills are brilliant, far superior to ours. With your current skills, you’re more than capable of being my master!”

Xia Wenjin shook her head and laughed, ”Ying Feng, don’t joke around, my medical skills are still far from enough. Besides, I have no plans to take on apprentices!”

Ying Feng was very disappointed.

He had always been proud, rarely admiring others, even if the other person was much younger than he was. His desire to become an apprentice was genuine.

But he also understood, after all, Xia Wenjin was a young girl, and it was normal for her not to accept him, which was a pity.

Xia Wenjin was about to leave, and there would be no more opportunities to observe her medical skills.

While he was feeling dejected, Luo Jia sniffed and said, ”So young, why not learn something useful. Having such medical skills is already rare, yet you still think of some crooked ways!”

Is it because he can’t see, or what? There are several Imperial Physicians here. Even if he was just a little nicer to them, anyone could take him under their wing, leading to a good future. Yet he insists on sticking by a young girl’s side, shamelessly asking to be her apprentice? He’s embarrassing himself!

Ying Feng was already in a bad mood, and Luo Jia’s words were like adding fuel to the fire, so his face darkened as he said, ”What do you mean by crooked ways?”

He just wanted to be an apprentice to learn medical skills; how is that crooked?

Luo Jia, relying on his age, mistakenly thought as he did, spoke unkindly and said, ”Isn’t it? At such a young age, you’ve already got a basic grasp of medical skills. With more effort, you’ll easily make a name for yourself. But seeking to take a young girl as a master now, isn’t it because you see the people behind her can get you what you want? Young man, stand straight, and conduct yourself properly; that’s more important than anything else!”

Xia Wenjin: ”...”

Ying Feng: ”...”

He was someone who did not respect face for anyone, let alone knowing who stood before him, although the news of the Imperial Physicians arriving had spread, those dedicated to their patients truly didn’t know.

He looked at Xia Wenjin and said, ”Doctor Xia, where did this self-important old man come from? Why is he so foul-mouthed?”

Xia Wenjin said helplessly, ”Ying Feng, don’t be rude. These are Imperial Physicians from the capital, here to take over this place!”

Luo Jia was furious, he had never been insulted to his face like this before, and he believed he was genuinely kind, never expecting this boy to be so rude.

Along the way, Ying Feng’s attitude towards Xia Wenjin really infuriated Luo Jia and others. You could see that brat, treating a young girl like his own grandmother, respectful and attentive, running back and forth, thoroughly considerate. Yet to them, the Imperial Physicians, he acted as if they were invisible. When occasionally asked a question, he would respond dismissively, with eyes raised to the top of his head.

Such differential treatment, how could they tolerate it?

In the capital, even high-ranking officials greeted them with smiles and politeness, after all, no one can guarantee they won’t get sick, and need a doctor for any ailment.

And the term ”Imperial Physician” is itself a guarantee of medical skill!

Thus, regardless of rank, who dares offend an Imperial Physician?

He was about to lose his temper when Xia Wenjin’s words made him swallow what he was about to say because if he really lost his temper at Ying Feng, wouldn’t he lose his dignity?

Upon hearing they were Imperial Physicians, Ying Feng thought, had these people not come, Doctor Xia wouldn’t have to leave, he could have learned more by observing her, thus he felt no good will towards them, and scoffed, ”Imperial Physicians or not, in my heart, I only recognize Doctor Xia’s medical skills.”

This statement displeased the Imperial Physicians. They traveled all this way, only to be told by a young upstart that their skills were inferior to a young girl’s? What a joke!

If they hadn’t seen Ying Feng’s medical skills earlier, they would have thought this kid short-sighted, looking at the sky from the bottom of a well. It’s as if the kid is belittling others to curry favor with the young girl.

Xia Wenjin smiled, ”Don’t talk nonsense, there are always people better, and there are always higher heavens.”

Originally a humble statement, Xia Wenjin was indeed humble, but it left a bad taste in the ears of the Imperial Physicians, whose gaze towards her became tinged with disdain.

At such a young age, she had learned this game well.

It is true that there are always people better and higher heavens, but what’s the meaning of saying it with a casual smile?

Initially, when they saw that Xia Wenjin, a fresh and delicate young girl, was willing to come to a place plagued by epidemics, they thought more highly of her. Even if her medical skills weren’t particularly impressive, she at least cared about treating and saving people.

But a young girl, taking the main seat, acting ostentatiously, representing all the doctors in Wangshan Town’s quarantine area, and even having Shang Jingwang respect her, doesn’t it show she’s merely exploiting her background to bully others?

So what if she’s a pretty young girl?

They are upright gentlemen, and being of advanced age, they wouldn’t be deceived by this girl’s tactics.
