Chapter 900: Out Of The Scope.

The laughter started before they even reached the door.

Saka and Nwaneri trailed behind Izan and a few other Arsenal players, whispering and rubbing their hands like a pair of mischievous kids.

The sound of their trainers echoing down the corridor only made it funnier for them.

”What are you two plotting back there?” Izan asked without looking back, pushing open the door to one of the indoor pitches at the Sobha Realty Centre.

”Nothing,” Saka replied, voice too high-pitched to be convincing.

”Just excited to see if the game finally gets your face right.”

Nwaneri burst into laughter while Izan shook his head, muttering something about ”clowns.”

But his smirk gave him away.

Inside, the pitch looked nothing like it usually did.

The green turf had been replaced by a maze of cables, tripods, reflective panels, and motion-capture cameras.

Several EA Sports staff stood around, some setting up equipment, others chatting among themselves.

There was a small interview corner too, lights perfectly positioned, with a woman from the EA team flipping through her notes.

A tall man wearing an EA polo approached them with an enthusiastic smile.

”Welcome, Arsenal boys. You know the drill. We’ll do your updated scans, motion work, and then the interviews. Shouldn’t take too long.”

”Yeah, that’s what you said last time,” Saka said, grinning.

”I was here for three hours. Not that I’m complaining, though. I got to skip training.”

The man laughed it off and gestured for them to step onto the platform, where they were fit into another set of coverings before Izan went first.

As the cameras blinked around him, a technician asked him to keep a neutral expression.

”Now smile a little. Perfect. Look left. Right. Now angry. Scared. Happy again.”

Saka whistled from the side.

”You should be an actor with that large facial range of yours.”

”Will do it when you turn into a circus comedian,” Izan shot back without breaking his pose.

The process was surprisingly detailed.

Every muscle movement, every twitch, every step mattered.

For the motion scans, they had to wear suits with small reflective dots attached, moving through a series of football actions, dribbles, shots, and even goal celebrations.

Nwaneri tried to copy one of Izan’s signature celebrations but tripped halfway, sending everyone around into laughter.

The EA crew laughed too, one of them saying, ”We might have to add that blooper into the game.”

Once the scans were done, they gathered near the interview section.

The female EA staff member, a cheerful woman named Rachel, motioned them toward the lights.

”Alright, boys. Let’s get this started. We’ll make it quick.”

Saka plopped down first, arms folded casually, while Izan stood behind him, leaning against a prop board.

”So, Bukayo,” Rachel started, smiling.

”Izan’s finally got his scan updated. What do you think his overall rating should be for FC 26?”

Saka pretended to think hard. ”Hmm. Out of a hundred, right?”

”Yes.”

He looked at Izan, who was already shaking his head in anticipation.

”Then I’ll rate him... out of the scope.”

Rachel laughed. ”Out of the scope?”

”Yeah,” Saka said with mock seriousness.

”You can’t measure him, can you? The man does things that break the game. Literally. Remember that bug from last year where his character didn’t stop running even after the whistle?”

Even Izan had to laugh. ”Let it go, bro, come on?”

”Never,” Saka said. ”You outran the pitch boundary and would probably have run out of the stadium if the game menu didn’t appear”

Rachel smiled as she jotted something down. ”So you play the game often, then?”

”Too much,” Saka admitted.

”Mostly career mode. Sometimes Ultimate Team, but Izan ruins it for everyone because his card’s ridiculous.”

”I don’t even play that much,” Izan said, half-defensive, half-laughing.

”I’m usually out with Olivia or walking Miko.”

”Ah, the famous Miko,” Rachel said, nodding. ”You’ve made her a celebrity online.”

”She deserves it,” Izan replied simply.

Nwaneri leaned into the frame from the side, grinning.

”He’s lying. He plays. He just doesn’t want people knowing he loses to me.”

Rachel turned, intrigued. ”You beat him?”

”Once,” Izan corrected. ”And only because he got 3 quick goals, which were all as a result of my using Saka’s controller settings.”

The room filled with laughter again.

Cameras clicked as the crew took final behind-the-scenes shots for EA’s promotional content.

By the time they were done, the group was lingering, chatting with the staff, still laughing about the bloopers from the motion captures.

Saka nudged Izan as they walked out.

”At least this year they’ll stop bullying you about the default face.”

”Yeah,” Izan said, slipping his hands into his pockets.

”But we all know it wasn’t that bad.”

”Yeah, right,” Saka said while Nwaneri snorted from behind.

”They gave you a ponytail since they couldn’t render your hair. Even Lewis Skelly’s in-game face was better. And he looked more like Lukaku than Lukaku did.”

”I heard that,” Lewis Skelly, who was on his phone, said as they exited the complex.

.....

Back at Hampstead, it was all about preparations for Izan.

The zipper of the suitcase stuttered halfway before he tugged it open again, muttering something under his breath about overpacking.

Shirts and joggers lay half-folded on the bed beside a row of trainers he hadn’t decided on yet.

The room was warm, afternoon light spilling through the curtains as he fumbled with himself about where his socks were.

Olivia’s voice cut through the quiet.

”So, this is what you do when I’m not around?”

He turned slightly, brows drawn together.

She was standing by the doorway, phone in hand, her expression somewhere between disbelief and amusement.

Izan blinked. ”What are you talking about?”

She walked over, eyes never leaving the screen.

”You. Your interview.”

She stopped in front of him and held up the phone.

”Going for walks with me, huh?”

Izan rubbed the back of his neck, trying not to smile.

”I mean... I do.”

Olivia arched a brow.

”When was the last time, exactly?”

He hesitated, searching his memory, but she didn’t give him the chance.

”Exactly,” she said, lowering the phone with a smile on her face.

”You haven’t since about 2 months ago. And now, you use Miko to get out of it.”

At the mention of his name, Miko lifted his head from the bed, eyes half-open, gave a soft grunt, then dropped it back onto the pillow with a sigh.

Izan chuckled.

”See? She’s a bit too needy when it comes to me.”

”That’s not helping your case,” Olivia said, though the corner of her mouth twitched.

He stepped closer, gently taking her wrist before she could lower the phone again.

”Alright, I’m sorry,” he said softly, leaning in just a little.

”What can I do to make it up to you?”

Olivia tilted her head, eyes narrowing playfully.

She slid her arms around his neck, the phone still between her fingers.

Her breath brushed his lips before she whispered, ”You can begin by...”

She let the sentence hang for a moment, teasing, her lips grazing his, but never settling.

Then, with a grin, she finished, ”Being my presentation assistant.”

He blinked, then laughed. ”Wait, what?”

”You heard me.”

”Are you serious?”

She nodded. ”They didn’t say I couldn’t have one. That was what I was going to ask you to do, but as you can see, you are leaving.”

”And when is this presentation?” he asked, still half laughing.

”Tomorrow,” she said, trying not to smile too widely.

”Tomorrow?”

He let out a quiet hum, the kind that always came before a smile.

His hands found her waist, drawing her closer until his forehead rested against hers.

”Alright,” he murmured, before kissing her, slow and deliberate.

When he finally pulled back, his voice dropped to a whisper.

”I’ll do it.”

Olivia smirked.

”Nope, that’s okay. You know what I really wanted?”

He brushed his thumb along her jaw. ”What’s that?”

”To put a stamp on you before you leave,” she said, eyes glinting.

He smiled, the warmth of it soft.

”You already have. But,” he added, voice lower, ”I wouldn’t mind if you did it again.”

Her laugh was light, quick, breaking the moment before it could turn too serious.

”I’m kidding,” she said, stepping back and sitting on the edge of the bed beside Miko.

The dog barely moved, his tail giving one lazy thump against the sheets.

”We’re going to miss you,” she said, setting her head on Miko, while making sad eyes, which caused Izan to chuckle a bit before he sat behind her, leaning in until his chin brushed her shoulder.

”It’s just two weeks,” he said quietly.

”That’s fourteen days,” she murmured.

He smiled against her hair, pressing a kiss to her forehead, then her cheek, and finally her lips when she turned to face him.

She melted into him, eyes half-closed as his arm slipped around her waist, pulling her back against his chest.

”This won’t get you out, you know,” she said, nuzzling more into Izan’s neck, while Izan just nodded.
