The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1958: That’s What I Need

It has been a fatal weakness that Rex had been worried about ever since he entered the God Realm.

Being unable to sense the main energy—which the Demigods and Gods used would be his death once he met someone around his level. He couldn’t stand that weakness, especially knowing that he would most likely die the moment he entered the Blood Moon Realm with it.

After all, the main energy there would not be any different from the one here, in the Primordial Meadow.

Just that what the immortal energy manifested would be different.

For a glimmering second, Rex’s lips curled into a satisfied smile as he dwelled on the new soothing and refreshing sensation that his sensitive senses felt coming from the immortal energy. Every battle he had in the God Realm was done quickly.

He had to do that in order to avoid getting attacked.

And it had left him frustrated; like a stimulated man that could not finish.

Swimming through an ocean of blood throughout his ascent to power; he thought only the scent would stick on him. But that wasn’t the case. It also changed him in a way, forced him to develop new, perhaps even unwanted temperament.

One being the maniacal longing for a brutal and bloody battle.

Having to finish his enemies quickly, it doesn’t really suit him and his mind.

Now, with this, with the immortal energy now registered to his senses, there was no need for that again.

But the Goddess of Luck turned her back on him—the smile on his face only lasted a fleeting moment as the immortal energy slipped from his senses again. ”No... What?” Rex’s eyes widened, and then he closed them again to focus harder.

Desperately searching for the immortal energy again.

He tried peering into the distorted layer, yet he couldn’t anymore.

It was almost like that layer had become more durable, and now, his senses couldn’t pierce through it.

”System, what happened?!”

”Then how come I can peer through it earlier and now I can’t?!”

Rex ground his teeth, crimson eyes blazing with malice.

He clenched his fists so hard that his claws that had grown in response to the anger burning inside him pierced his own palms. Blood welled between his fingers, hot and dark. ”Is there anything,” He ground out with restrained anger. ”Anything that could accelerate my mastery of the Pure God Sense skill?”

Rex wanted to say yes instantly, but paused.

For some reason, his dubious eyes were fixated on the cost of this Epiphany of the Divine item.

”It’s too cheap...” He muttered inwardly as his brows dipped into a frown. ”How effective will it be?”

Almost instantly, a rough snort escaped him—as his instincts were correct. An item with the ability to increase his mastery over such a powerful skill shouldn’t have cost a mere ten million. The price had reeked of something suspicious, and he’d been correct to trust his guts.

It wouldn’t matter whether he used the Epiphany of the Divine item or not.

An increase of two percent is nothing.

Other items—that would help him instantly would probably be very costly, which was why the System didn’t even recommend it to him. Something that was beyond his pocket, even though he was quite rich by now after killing many Demigods along the way.

Slowly, he started chuckling.

Even though he had managed to gather the Divine Strands needed faster than expected, it seemed having enough mastery over the Pure God Sense skill to the point of being able to sense immortal energy before the banquet was out of his hands.

And it was frustrating.

Learning what happened in the Mortal Realm from High Lord Rashal changed something in him.

It was this anger that he had subconsciously been suppressing.

Rex thought ignorance would help him focus a little bit, so he asked the System to filter any notifications that were coming from the others in the Mortal Realm. And he was right and wrong. Not knowing what had happened did make him more focused, but it also lowered the urgency in him.

No more.

Now, he would take greater risks to hasten his speed, and then this happened.

His chuckle only grew louder.

Failing to achieve this meant more time away from the Mortal Realm, and in any of those times, Kaiser might plot something more to get his lethal hands—on those he cared about. It was maddening. Just the thought of Kaiser reaching Calidora was making his blood boil.

At this moment, he wanted to punch something.

Kill something.

Devour someone to quench the anger that he had been restraining.

Rex thought he was merely chuckling, but the sound that escaped him was laughter instead. Unchecked and raw. Davina and Lilliana opened the door and stood framed in the entry, their faces tight with worry as they watched him laugh.

He’d seemed fine earlier. In good spirits, even.

But now, watching him laugh with that maddening light flickering in his eyes made them realize that he was simply lying. He was happy that Lilliana prepared a surprise—but inside, he was not in a good mood at all.

How can he be after he learned about what happened in the Mortal Realm?

How can he be after he knew that Calidora and his daughter were almost killed?

Davina didn’t know what to say.

It was her first time being in a relationship with a man, so she couldn’t think of anything to do.

Lilliana saw her freeze and sighed.

She approached Rex with steady steps and sat down beside him on the edge of the bed, ”What’s wrong, Rex?”

”Another obstacle got in my way, that’s what.”

”Then what do you need? What can we do to help you?”

”I need to kill something, that’s what I need!” Rex’s dangerous crimson eyes drilled into Lilliana’s eyes; his fangs were growing longer—as he spoke. One look from his eyes was enough to tell her everything. ”I need to rake my claws into flesh, bathe in violence and blood, and feel pain. That’s what I need.”

Even though anyone would be scared to see Rex like this, Lilliana didn’t.

Regardless of the anger Rex has inside of him, there was no chance that he was going to hurt her.

No chance that he would hurt anyone he cared about.

Just that he’s a werewolf, a human, and a killer—he needs an outlet to calm his nerves.

”Then let’s find people to kill.” Lilliana’s hand found his cheek; her thumb traced a gentle arc across his skin. ”Not too weak—we don’t want them dying instantly. But not too strong to put you at risk. Someone in the middle.” Her voice was soft, almost soothing. ”Enough to quiet that anger of yours.”

”Yes,” Rex nodded, then his eyes flickered. ”And it seemed we didn’t need to go looking...”

At the same time, the door slammed open with an unwarranted violence that snapped Rex, Lilliana, and Davina’s gazes toward it in perfect, instinctive unison. A small, metallic object skittered across the floor of the living room—spinning to a halt in the center.

Rex’s instincts warned him of trouble, and his reaction exploded.

He moved like a phantom, lunging straight at the door as his hand seized Davina’s wrist and pulled her behind him. His body became a shield between the sisters and whatever was about to happen, blocking the door with reverent willingness.

And then, the plat detonated.

Boom—!

It exploded not with fire, not with shrapnel—but with a blast of force.

Despite feeling it phasing through their bodies like a strong ocean breeze, the kind that stole breath and left a salt-tingle on the skin, the force couldn’t be seen with the naked eye. Rex lowered his arm when it passed and checked the penthouse with sharp eyes.

All of his senses were stimulated to the limit, and the System kept on scanning the area.

Before his very eyes, the penthouse melted. Walls, floors, furniture—all of it dissolved like wax running from an invisible flame; sloughing away in sheets and rivulets to reveal something else entirely beneath their cover.

A flowery plain stretched out before them. Endless and vibrant.

Crimson petals swayed in a breeze that carried the scent of pollen and old iron.

Above, the sky burned red. A deep, arterial red, and its center hung a moon the color of fresh blood. It was bloated and glowed with a light that seemed to pulse like a heartbeat. The air was warm, too. And it hummed with unseen presence.

Rex and the others could tell that they were brought away into another dimension.

...

Back in Larta City, the pedestrians saw a big bubble near the top of the apartment building.

It was clearly nothing but trouble.

All spies and the authorities moved with quickness, meticulously checking the dome.

But they soon realized that the bubble was hard to penetrate.

”How is it possible that someone breached the dimensional fabric in Larta City?!”

”I don’t know, but whoever did this came prepared.”

...

Back inside the unfamiliar dimension, Rex turned his head to the side and saw the border.

A mile away, maybe less, which wasn’t that far away—the plain simply stopped. A shimmering edge beyond which nothing existed but a wall of distorted light. A pocket dimension. The metallic plate had been a key device containing power that could strip the apartment building’s defensive mechanisms and rip Rex and the others from reality into this sealed, blooming prison.

Is it Kaiser?

Rex’s mind instantly went to the worst.

Considering that there was a red moon glaring at him from the sky, he thought it must be the case.

But it’s not.

No, I don’t think it’s Kaiser. The moonlight that this moon emanated... It’s weak. Present, but weak.

Rex was a werewolf. With the red moon hanging directly above him—closer and redder than it had ever been—he should have felt an immense surge of power flooding his veins. But he felt nothing. Barely a trickle, which meant the moon above him wasn’t real.

Just a cheap replica for decoration with barely any realness to it.

He checked the killing intent description and confirmed that it wasn’t Kaiser.

Right now, he has ten people to kill, which was another confirmation that it wasn’t Kaiser.

This was the work of someone else.

In the distance, ten figures materialized from a swirl of flower petals. None of them wore the same exact clothes. No unity at all. One wore plated armor, another wore traditional dancer dress, and then there was one who was wearing mismatched clothes that looked modern.

Even so, regardless of style, there was one thing they had in common.

And that’s the fact that their clothes were made from red petals and adorned in flowers.

Each one of them emanated immense killing intent, and it was directed straight at Rex. Anyone would be afraid—but this wave of collective killing intent made a maniacal smile climb to Rex’s lips. He was more excited than anything.

Good... Good! I’m going to tear them apart. Limb from limb. And then savor every drop of their blood, and every strip of their meat!
