The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1198: Unyielding Light

Nezera sat on the bench in her emotions inside a wrecked mess.

She learned that the Angel race somehow survived all this time—an exciting news, that was much needed at this moment when she was bombarded with multiple problems at the same time.

But that excitement didnʼt last long when Calidora delivered the real news.

For some unknown reason, the Angels abandoned their past virtue.

If it was the Angels back in her time, there was absolutely no chance that they would do this.

Even when hearing it for the first time, Nezera considered it as a jest.

Calidora was young and she had never seen an Angel before, so there might be some sort of a misunderstanding. The Angels wouldnʼt attack anyone, they are a race of pacifists, and the forces under them only helped when others were in need.

Not once did the Angels think for themselves much less have ambitions to conquer.

It was not their nature, their Origin was against that strongly.

However—Calidora doesnʼt seem to be lying, and the Humans, with all of their advancement, shouldnʼt mistake the Angels, for any other race, ʼBut this shouldnʼt be possible—I refused to believe it, Angels arenʼt supposed to be like this. To destroy two kingdoms... They are not the Angel race, I donʼt care how they looked!ʼ

Despite the reality, Nezera didnʼt want to believe it.

Something is definitely wrong, there must definitely be a misunderstanding.

Looking ahead blankly, she felt her heart ache with pain, and in an instant, her mind traveled to the past. A memory, that made her unwilling to believe what Calidora was saying—Angels are intrinsically, the good side.

”Archangel Celestius...”

...

It was blinding blue for a moment.

Nothing could be seen except for this light that gradually glowed brighter as time passed.

At its zenith, the power of the light began to fade, and it happened quickly.

Just then for several agonizing seconds, the light appeared, and disappeared—revealing one towering column of blue energy, that surged upwards—climbing to the heavens. Many would consider this a mesmerizing spectacle, that is if this spectacle was not an explosion.

A turbulent mix of vivid blue and swirling smoke that painted the sky with its powerful force.

Every single person who witnessed this had their eyes glued onto it.

But suddenly, a powerful shockwave burst forth, expanding outward with unstoppable force.

It swept across the land, like a devastating gust—pushing or even flattening everything in its path, and leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Soon enough—when the explosion sowed its final destruction, a battlefield came into view.

A battlefield that stretched endlessly, dripping with gnarly pain of death and destruction.

Swallowed by its maw were hundreds of thousands of souls.

Lifeless bodies—twisted and broken lay across the expanse, a macabre mingling of corpses, limbs—and organs, strewn across the blood-soaked earth. Dead Vampires lay tightly next to each other, covering the dirt with their forms.

Vampires were not the only ones that lay on this battlefield, others could also be seen.

Others in radiant white armor, very slowly turning into golden fragments.

Smoke rose in thick, choking plumes—coalescing with the acrid scent of burning flesh and the metallic tang of blood. Mud and gore, defensive wooden stakes—with their sharpened ends, stained dark with the lifeblood of fallen warriors, and freckles of fire, dotted as lights for the landscape.

Every single detail of the battlefield showed the great war that happened on this soil.

A war that made the God of Death smile in harvest.

In the midst of this apocalyptic scene—a lone woman, slowly emerged from the rubble with heavy breaths. Her pinkish hair—was a stark contrast to the color of chaos around her. She was Nezera, her once elegant appearance now marred by wounds and grime.

Blood tricked from wounds that adorned her alabaster skin, clung onto with dirt and ash.

Her eyes, once filled with a predatory gleam, were now clouded with despair.

In the background, a couple of others also crawled out of the rubble just like her.

”We lost...” Scanning her eyes around—she realized that the entire city had fallen—there was nothing more to fight for. ”Even with the help of seven Archangels—the city still fell. Nothing- Nothing could stop them... they are superior in every aspect,” She uttered, defeat clear in her voice.

Just then, she quickly stood up and ran to a kneeling figure not far from her.

Her husband, Solomon, was there coughing weakly.

He had borne the brunt of the final blastʼs shockwave to shield Nezera with his mere body.

Even the armor that was strapped onto his body before the battle was now in tatters—barely clinging to his ravaged body. ”Solomon! Stay with me—Dear!” Nezera shouted—grabbing the collar of his armor and forcing him to see her.

But Solomon was already weak, his body and gaze were already weak.

Nezera wanted to snap him out of his daze, but as she did that, she abruptly stopped.

She found that Solomon was already stiff, and his skin began to produce sand-like particles.

Automatically, he began the mummification process, proof of the severity of his wounds.

”Leave the city...” Solomon uttered lightly, using all the strength he had left.

Despite beginning to sob as she could not carry Solomon with her as a Vampire who was in a mummified state became heavier, she turned her head to look back. Even though it would be hard, she was going to try to carry Solomon to escape with her.

She has noble blood, but with the situation, no one could help her right now.

However, as if the situation was not bad enough, she was greeted by another spectacle.

Nezera saw several dots of powerful energies piercing through the thick smoke—their gleam cutting through the haze like beacons of doom. Each glowing point, signaled the presence of formidable adversaries, their auras palpable even from a distance.

”No... We are surrounded,” She bit her lips hard. ”Not yet! There should be another way!”

In the face of dread, with the opposing army blocking the escape route, she persists in hope.

Regardless of the situation, there should always be a way out.

However, many of the others around her didnʼt share her persistence.

All of them dropped their weapons in surrender—not even attempting to find a way out when they saw what she saw. Losing their city and the approach of death—their sobs became one haunting melody that filled the entire place.

Under this haunting melody, more surrender, and their morale dropped to the floor.

Nezera looked around, desperately trying to find a way to escape.

She felt her hands that were clutching Solomonʼs body tremble, it was a very dire situation.

However, her fate was sealed when a silhouette appeared from the smoke ahead.

Clop...

Clop...

Clop...

Menacing sounds of slow hooves echoed in her ears, each heavy step, sending shivers down her spine. A silhouette of a horseman became clearer, and when it emerged, she witnessed a cutting and imposing figure against the haze.

Clad in intricate armor with dragon motifs, he exuded an air of unyielding power.

His presence emits a terrifying aura.

His helmet was adorned in two glowing dark blue plumes—making anyone, on the battlefield tremble at his unique silhouette. A dark blue cape, fell gracefully over one shoulder, fluttered with each stride of his horseʼs formidable steed.

Everyone here instantly recognized who he was, and knew that death had come.

As he drew nearer, and viewed the survivors of his earlier attack, that decimated the entirety of the city—he reached to his left waist, with his right hand and drew forth a long—menacing spear with a deliberate, fluid motion.

Holding it horizontally to his right, he maintained perfect balance like the God of War.

Even the fiery dark blue aura that enveloped him and his horse was sharp to look at.

Only then that Nezera feel the true taste of despair.

Regardless, if she was wounded—like right now, or when she was still in full power, or even if there were ten thousand of her in this situation, with the horseman here, she knew that there would be no chance for her to escape.

Not her, not Solomon, or even the other survivors could escape with this horseman around.

Just then, appearing behind the horseman was the army.

All of them are lined neatly in formation with their auras still rigorous and robust as ever.

Levitating above them, were figures clad in white and blue robes—each bearing a deep blue insignia—a circular arrangement of intertwined, sophisticated runes. These peopleʼs energy was enchanting the entire army, and there were a formidable seven of them.

Even if some of them died, the others could take place without a problem.

Against the shattered cityʼs forces, this legion was invincible.

Solomon was lucky to pass out before he could see this legion—unlike Nezera who was now feeling the true essence of dread and helplessness. She knew that this was the end, none of them would survive this.

Her attention was unwavering, fixed ahead in utter horror.

Because of that, she didnʼt realize that the rubble nearby to her right was moving.

Coming out of the rubble was a figure, he was wounded the same with shattered armor.

On his shoulder blades were a flock of bloodied feathers, the remnant of his ripped wings.

Moreover, his right hand, his dominant hand was completely severed—leaving him struggling to even stand up, properly. Recovering from the blast earlier—he assessed the situation, and was shocked at the sight of the invincible legion ahead.

It was the last thing that he wanted to see after he recovered.

Unlike the others, however, the man didnʼt lose hope and grabbed his sword on the ground.

He was supposed to have both swords in each hand, but he could only grab one now.

Glancing to the side, while panting heavily—blood trickling down his left eye, and forcing it to shut, he saw Nezera clutching Solomonʼs body tightly. Recognizing them, the figure made his way over slowly.

As he made the last weak step, he looked at Nezera and found that she was stunned.

She was frozen in place with her gaze fixed ahead.

Upon seeing this, the figure smiled lightly.

He stabbed his sword to the ground before he headed over to stand directly in front of Nezera—blocking her gaze, to the invincible legion ahead. Realizing that someone was obstructing the view, she blinked her eyes and looked at the figure.

Nezera was surprised to see the figure stretching his hand towards her with a smile.

”A- Archangel Celestius...?” She muttered in shock.

Gaining her attention—Archangel Celestius smiled broader, despite the devastating pain—he was suffering right now. It was then he helped Nezera to stand, alongside Solomon before he opened his mouth, ”Here, take this. Get out of here, and bring Solomon with you,”

Looking down at her hand, Nezera saw a brilliant golden feather.

It was an escape item that was given to an Archangel, to save them from dire situations.

”But what about you? We should leave together!” Nezera said back.

However, Archangel Celestius only grabbed his sword again and turned around—facing the invincible army, ”Me and the other surviving Angels will help the other survivors to flee, you go on ahead. We are tasked to take care of this city—and we will fall, alongside it. Vampires are in a critical condition, thereby, your life is more valuable than mine”

”I donʼt want my descendants to live where the Vampireʼs legacy was no more,” He added.

Upon hearing this, Nezera was absolutely stunned.

An Archangel is akin to an Elder Vampire, so she couldnʼt fathom this situation.

If anything, an Archangelʼs position is way higher than her who was a mere noble Vampire.

Not to mention, she was quite young compared to the other noble bloods.

Shing...!

Glancing over his shoulder, Archangel Celestius shot a confident smile as the golden feather on Nezeraʼs hand began to glow brighter—activating. In the last seconds before Nezera was engulfed by the golden light, her eyes bore witness to a grand spectacle.

Nezera saw Archangel Celestius spread his arm to the side, facing the invincible army.

His severed arm slowly recovered, becoming an arm of golden light with a sword.

Showing no fear, his muscles bulged at the charge of the opposing army.

Even though the light was vanquished from the battlefield, he was radiating brightly.

Despite the odds, his back was akin to a guardianʼs shield, offering resolute defense to those behind him. As Nezeraʼs vision was about to be swallowed by the golden light, she saw more than a dozen tenth-rank realm Awakened leaping at weakened Archangel Celestius.

But in response, Archangel Celestius clutched his weapons dauntingly and unleashed a roar.

A roar that rang in Nezeraʼs mind powerfully as she was teleported away.

”Justice for the evil... peace for the world... FOR THE ORIGIN!”
