Star Martial Era: The Way of Star Light Cultivation

Chapter 513: Chapter 218 Rejection_2

Indeed, the crafting of Third Tier Emblems was more than twice as complicated as that of the Second-tier ones.

Academician Kou spent a good half an hour just explaining.

”Next, we’ll move on to on-site crafting. As usual, the first one finished will receive a reward, as will the one with the best craftsmanship. The top three will receive personal guidance from me. Those who just succeeded in crafting Second-tier Emblems, please raise your hands.”

This time, out of the four to five hundred disciples inside and outside the hall, only just over a hundred raised their hands.

The recent crafting of Second-tier Emblems had directly eliminated half of the contenders.

Starlight flew in; it was Academician Kou distributing Star Jades for the disciples to practice with.

Suddenly, Xu Jin’s gaze shifted.

Ji Hongli and Wang Jiugao each received three pieces.

Xu Jin, however, received six.

It must have been because they had seen Xu Jin working quickly before, and now they had made allowances for him.

He began with the crafting of the base Emblem.

After receiving guidance from Academician Kou, coupled with Xu Jin’s own talent for thoughtful analysis, the coverage of Star Power on the subsequent Third Tier Star Jades he worked with reached ninety-three percent.

But this was far from the top-grade ninety-five percent.

Next, Xu Jin started to engrave the Third Tier Emblems as taught by Academician Kou.

Before beginning the engraving, Xu Jin erected his Body Protective Starlight.

The explosion of a Third Tier Star Jade could be very dangerous.

To craft the Third Tier Star Fire Explosive Pattern, the Star Burst Technique and Fire Origin Star Pattern were needed.

Xu Jin had long been capable of Instantaneous use of the Star Burst Technique. As for the Fire Origin Star Pattern, according to Academician Kou, those trying to engrave for the first time could choose a Third or Fourth Tier pattern.

Obviously, the higher the Rank of the Fire Origin Star Pattern that was engraved, the more powerful it would be.

But the higher the Rank of the Fire Origin Star Pattern, the more difficult it became to engrave.

One could wait until they were quite proficient before engraving a higher Rank Fire Origin Star Pattern.

It’s worth mentioning that Academician Kou specifically explained the impact of the Rank of the Fire Origin Star Pattern on the power of the Emblem.

The higher the Rank of the Star Pattern engraved, the stronger the Emblem, but generally speaking, the Star Patterns engraved on Third Tier Emblems were Fifth Tier or below.

For example, if engraving a Fifth or Sixth Tier Star Pattern into a Star Fire Explosive Pattern, it might be possible to craft a top-grade Third Tier Emblem.

If using a Fourth Tier Lower Star Jade, it might be possible to craft a low-grade Fourth Tier Emblem.

But that was the limit.

Xu Jin ultimately decided to use the more difficult Frame Emblem Technique, with a Fourth Tier Lower Fire Origin Star Pattern.

Although the Frame Emblem Technique was difficult, it could yield top-grade Emblems.

Xu Jin’s goal in crafting Emblems was clearly to save his life and to make money.

Clearly, top-grade Emblems would fulfill Xu Jin’s purpose.

But it had to be said, the difficulty of the Frame Technique was apparent.

Not twenty breaths into the process, Xu Jin’s first attempt exploded.

Fortunately, Xu Jin had gradually become proficient. The moment the explosion occurred, he immediately conjured a Star Curtain, momentarily restraining the exploding Star Jade, preventing any adverse effect.

Carefully pondering the cause of the explosion, Xu Jin began his second attempt at engraving the Third Tier Star Fire Explosive Pattern.

This time, just over thirty-five breaths in, another explosion occurred!

Exploding Emblems aside, Xu Jin wasn’t discouraged. On the contrary, he calmed his mind, went over Academician Kou’s explanation once again, then started anew.

On the third try, Xu Jin made obvious progress, but as he was finishing the engraving, the Connected Star Patterns failed to keep up, resulting in another explosion!

Three explosions!

Inside the Academic Hall, most of the disciples had begun to experience their own explosions.

The sound of consecutive bursts was like firecrackers.

Those outside knew they were engraving Emblems; those unaware might think they were celebrating the New Year.

Huff!

Xu Jin exhaled softly and closed his eyes to reassess everything once more.

A minute later, Xu Jin resumed the engraving of the Third Tier Star Fire Explosive Pattern.

This time, having learned from previous lessons, he successfully completed the engraving.

Yet it was filled with peril; several times, he only got through by relying on his strong Divine Soul Power!

”Academician, I’ve done it!”

This time, Xu Jin was the first to speak out.

Instantly, he attracted countless watchful eyes, and his announcement also affected Wen Lie, who was in the final stages of his own work.

He hadn’t expected the person he always saw as Academician Kou’s top Emblem engraving disciple would be outpaced by another.

Distracted, Wen Lie’s nearly complete Star Jade lost its Star Power containment and exploded instantly.

Bang!

An explosion!

With a face covered in soot and in disbelief, he turned to look at Xu Jin.

Academician Kou Jing quickly inspected Xu Jin’s successfully crafted Third Tier Star Fire Explosive Emblem, his eyes revealing an unconcealable surprise.

He knew all too well the difficulty of Third Tier Emblems.

Many disciples needed at least a hundred attempts to potentially succeed.

But Academician Kou had previously assessed that given Xu Jin’s skill level in crafting top-grade Second-tier Emblems, he would likely be quick, which is why he had given six Third Tier Star Jades to Xu Jin.

Kou Jing had speculated that Xu Jin would most probably succeed on the sixth piece.

But to his surprise, success came with the fourth!

After just three failures, Xu Jin had successfully crafted a Third Tier Emblem.

Academician Kou Jing’s Divine Thought needed only a momentary immersion into the Emblem to see, from its awkward and nearly collapsing structure, that Xu Jin was a first-time engraver.

Yet, he had used the considerably difficult Frame structure.

Suddenly, Academician Kou found himself a little distracted, reminiscing about his own past.

How many attempts did it take him to successfully engrave a Third Tier Emblem for the first time?

Wasn’t it on the twelfth try?

Then his teacher considered him a genius in crafting Emblems!

What’s more, he had used a simpler stacking structure back then.

And Xu Jin? He had used the more difficult Frame structure and succeeded on just the fourth attempt?
