Star Martial Era: The Way of Star Light Cultivation

Chapter 482: Chapter 208: Qi Who Refuses to Give Up

”I’m sorry, Great Sage Equalling Heaven refuses to accept the challenge.”

Moon Shadow was stupefied upon receiving the notification, and she chose to challenge Xu Jin again.

”I’m sorry, Great Sage Equalling Heaven refuses to accept the challenge.”

The feeling of losing without clarity, being instantly killed, was just too unbearable, like living a nightmare.

Moon Shadow’s stubbornness flared up, and she chose to challenge again.

But the moment she selected to challenge, the light shifted before her eyes, and the Third Tier Martial Arts Secret Realm ranking had changed—Great Sage Equalling Heaven had moved from rank 463 to rank 457.

She was no longer eligible to challenge him.

She realized Great Sage Equalling Heaven must have won another match, earning three points, hence the significant ranking boost.

And according to the rules of the Third Tier Martial Arts Secret Realm, between ranks one hundred and one thousand, one could only challenge five opponents at most.

Anxious to challenge Xu Jin, Moon Shadow quickly selected the next person to challenge.

Thirty breaths later, Moon Shadow won, gaining three points.

Her ranking rose to 458th, eager to challenge Great Sage Equalling Heaven, but his ranking had disappeared again.

Searching again, she found that Great Sage Equalling Heaven had leapt to rank 410.

An even greater frustration welled up in Moon Shadow, and she chose to challenge the next person.

Before, she hadn’t gone all out in challenges, nor had she pushed herself to the limit, because her Cultivation Level was only at the Eighth Layer Refining Star, so there was no rush to improve her rank, just to practice real combat.

But now, she was spurred on by Great Sage Equalling Heaven.

In fifteen minutes, she had won five consecutive battles.

Finally, her rank soared to 401st, but again, she couldn’t find Great Sage Equalling Heaven’s rank. She looked upward and at last, there it was.

”Great Sage Equalling Heaven: Rank 372.”

Still, she couldn’t challenge him.

This left Moon Shadow with a sense of deep dissatisfaction.

A stifled anger swelled in her chest, with no outlet.

She felt that if she didn’t fight another battle today, she wouldn’t be able to sleep.

At this very moment, Moon Shadow finally recalled who Great Sage Equalling Heaven was—the second place in the First Tier Martial Arts Secret Realm, who had once challenged her and been defeated by her.

After that, she had advanced to Star Casting.

Now, unexpectedly in the Third Tier Martial Arts Secret Realm, he had not only surpassed her, but also instantly killed her!

Thinking it over, Moon Shadow felt that she must fight Great Sage Equalling Heaven today.

She spent a strand of Starlight to directly request to add Great Sage Equalling Heaven as a friend, preparing to challenge him after becoming friends.

No matter the outcome, she had to fight first and talk later.

”I’m sorry, Great Sage Equalling Heaven has declined your friend request.”

”Ah...”

Moon Shadow, upon seeing this message, almost wanted to roar toward the heavens.

How could she have encountered such a petty player!

So what if she didn’t remember?

She sent another request!

And was rejected again!

After five consecutive attempts, Moon Shadow was nearly driven mad.

Without befriending him, there wasn’t even a way to scold him, let alone propose a match!

Moon Shadow was infuriatingly close to a breakdown.

Gritting her teeth, she looked at the Third Tier Martial Arts Secret Realm leaderboard.

Now, there was only one way left.

The top ten!

According to the Third Tier Martial Arts Secret Realm rules, if someone in the top ten refused challenges three times in a row, they would drop in the rankings.

Once Great Sage Equalling Heaven broke into the top ten, she would follow.

Then, she would have her opportunity to challenge Great Sage Equalling Heaven.

And when the time came, she could thoroughly trounce this Great Sage Equalling Heaven!

But now, she would have to start intensive cultivation!

She couldn’t afford to be as casual as before.

And besides, without hard work, she was unable to climb higher in rank.

After leaving the Star-picking Tower, Moon Shadow sent a message to her good friend. After being so upset, she had to vent somehow; Otherwise, she’d be the one who suffered.

”Moon Moon, today I encountered a disgustingly petty, stingy man, you can’t imagine how narrow-minded he is...”

...

Moon Shadow ranted to her friend.

Still in that luxurious hall atop the mountain, Drunk Moon Immortal suddenly laughed while reading her close friend’s complaints.

That guy seemed quite interesting, too.

But why didn’t he just soften up towards her?

Couldn’t he just send her a message on his own?

All of this was unknown to Xu Jin, but Xu Jin was feeling great.

Moon Shadow was impressive enough to occupy Xu Jin’s mind for over a month, yet she failed to remember the name Great Sage Equalling Heaven.

This time, he was having a blast.

Especially when refusing the challenges and friend requests—it felt wonderful.

But for Xu Jin, that moment of enjoyment was brief. After completing a set number of challenges, Xu Jin left the Third Tier Martial Arts Secret Realm.

One thing was clear: Xu Jin’s current goal was the top ten ranks of the Third Tier Martial Arts Secret Realm.

Xu Jin had seen for himself that with his current strength, not just the top one thousand, even the top one hundred ranks would cause him no trouble.

But were there any worthy opponents within the top ten?

*****

On October 2nd, Jiang’er successfully achieved Star Pointing and officially broke through to the Second Layer of Dining Dawn, which was a considerable pace.

Dachen National Daoist Institute remained in a state of readiness, isolated from the outside.

In truth, it wasn’t just the Dachen National Daoist Institute; even Wanyi had stepped up its guard, though not to the extent of imposing a full lockdown like Dachu.

Xu Jin started to dissect and study the handbooks related to the Swimming Fish Star Pattern in the National Daoist Institute Library. There weren’t many, only about a dozen or so. The Swimming Fish Star Pattern was the next Star Pattern Xu Jin planned to deduce.

At the same time, Xu Jin began to explore other Star Pattern research handbooks.

Particularly the handbooks related to the Divine Soul Star Pattern.

But he didn’t find much. For this reason, Xu Jin specially consulted with the State Preceptor, Cheng Yue Xiao.

State Preceptor Cheng Yuxiao gave Xu Jin an answer.

The handbooks on Divine Soul Star Pattern research were inherently precious and scarce.

That’s because those capable of researching the Divine Soul Star Pattern were few and far between.
