Madam Li's Identity Is Exposed Again!

Chapter 914: Chapter 914: Nuonuo Does Not Have Leukemia

The coffee cup was adorned with a golden edge, extremely exquisite, as if it was something used in a palace. The coffee wafted white smoke and one could faintly smell the aroma of the coffee beans.

Even without tasting it, Chi Enen knew this was premium coffee.

But she didn’t want to drink coffee now, nor could she stomach it, pressing her lips together, hesitating to speak.

Xi Zelie was no ordinary person; how could he not see what she wanted to say? He picked up the coffee, elegantly took a sip, set it down, and took the initiative to say, ”Nuonuo is a child I found.”

”After leaving Capital City, I returned to my family. There were many trivial matters at home, so I came to Country T. While dealing with these family affairs, I discovered Nuonuo. She must have been trafficked and was locked in a little house. When I found her, she was running a high fever. So, I took her home and called a doctor. At the time, we administered some antipyretic medication according to the child’s fever, but when I realized I couldn’t manage to lower her temperature, I brought her to the Hospital for a medical checkup. It turned out that her blood cell count was abnormal; her white blood cell count was many times higher than that of a normal person. Later, I took the liberty to conduct a series of tests on her and found out she had a genetic disease.”

When Chi Enen heard about the high number of white blood cells and the genetic disease, her eyelids fell, ”Nuonuo does have a hereditary blood disease. As for the white blood cells, I’m still not sure if she has...”

Before she could mention Leukemia, Xi Zelie gently interrupted her, ”It’s not Leukemia. I’ve checked; it’s just a variation of a hereditary blood disease. What is certain is that this variation can cause her to have repeated fevers, and the number of white blood cells will also increase.”

”Not Leukemia?” This was the best news Chi Enen had heard in several days. She couldn’t help but widen her eyes, grasping the man’s wrist in front of her to confirm once more, ”Nuonuo really doesn’t have Leukemia?”

Xi Zelie’s gaze shifted away from her hand, and his features softened, those peach blossom eyes, unobscured by the gold-rimmed glasses, bewitchingly beautiful as they captivated and ensnared, ”No. I’ve done a comprehensive check-up on her, and I’m sure she doesn’t have Leukemia.”

But this disease is almost as troublesome as Leukemia, maybe even more so.

At least with Leukemia, there is already known treatment, but there’s absolutely no idea how to treat this rare genetic blood disease.

And if left untreated, just the repeated high fevers alone can be fatal for a one-year-old child.

For the past several days, he’d been researching how to control Nuonuo’s condition.

Now, there seems to be a tentative plan.

Hope flickered in Chi Enen’s eyes; she couldn’t wait to take Nuonuo back for a check-up to confirm that it really wasn’t Leukemia. She was restless, trying hard to calm down, and looked into Xi Zelie’s eyes to plead, ”Mr. Han, may I take Nuonuo back with me, please?”

She knew Han Qifeng from a year ago, but she was unfamiliar with the ’Young Master Lie’ the nurses mentioned.

She wasn’t certain whether Han Qifeng would let her take Nuonuo.

Or what conditions he might demand for releasing the child.

But whatever the conditions might be, she would do her utmost to fulfill them.

Xi Zelie met her gaze as it sought him out, seeing the unease in her expressive eyes, a trace of bitterness flickered through his peach blossom eyes.

She didn’t trust him.

Even though she hadn’t shown it, he could tell, she didn’t believe in him.

The bitterness in his heart grew more intense, his throat felt dry, and suddenly he felt as if he couldn’t speak.
