Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 549: 549 Wake Up

Yuanyuan’s mind was racing now, uncertain of what to do.

She stared blankly at the doctor. Not speaking.

”Comrade Yuanyuan, do you know what happened to you?”

Yuanyuan shook her head slightly; goodness, why does her head hurt so much?

Everyone in the room stared at her, especially Daqing.

They weren’t familiar with her, but they knew each other. However, now there wasn’t a hint of familiarity in the sister-in-law’s eyes toward them.

”Comrade Yuanyuan, do you know what year it is?”

Yuanyuan dared not shake her head anymore. She just kept looking at the doctor.

Everyone in the room understood that she had hurt her head and remembered nothing.

”Alright, Comrade Yuanyuan, take good care of yourself. You’re awake now, but your body has multiple fractures, so you need to heal slowly.”

Yuanyuan tugged at the corners of her mouth, wanting to thank the person but uncertain if they would understand.

Sun Yanhua was also called out by Daqing.

”Doctor Sun, don’t tell my sister-in-law anything. We need to discuss.”

Daqing already thought about discussing whether or not to tell her about the leader and the child.

Seeing her condition, she has forgotten everything. If that’s the case, it’s better if it stays that way, rather than let a woman bear such pain again.

Daqing knew he couldn’t make the decision alone; they needed to discuss it and have approval from the leaders.

Sun Yanhua nodded, ”Yes, I understand.”

”Doctor Sun, please take care of her.”

Sun Yanhua nodded and entered the ward. Daqing, the dean, and several doctors went to the office together.

”Dean Ding, regarding Comrade Yuanyuan’s situation, we need to report to the leaders. I hope Dean Ding won’t tell her about the past for now.

Let’s discuss what we should do?

Dean Ding, is there a possibility that Comrade Yuanyuan might regain her memory?”

”I really don’t know; sometimes a trauma or serious shock can bring back memories, or they might never remember in their lifetime.”

”Alright, thank you, Dean Ding, we will give you a conclusion soon.”

”I’ve already learned about Comrade Yuanyuan’s situation. From an outsider’s perspective, I think you’re right to consider this. Such a painful experience—it’s good that she’s forgotten.”

In everyone’s eyes, Tan Shaoting and the children were gone. It’s inhumane to let a woman carry this burden her whole life. Since she’s already amnesiac, let this matter remain buried.

Daqing gave some instructions and drove back to the garrison.

Because of this incident, none of the seven went out; after all, sister-in-law was still unconscious.

The six were curious as to why Daqing returned at this moment. Was something wrong? Watching Daqing, they were anxious.

”Before I came, sister-in-law woke up.”

Now smiles appeared on the faces of the six.

”I told you, sister-in-law is blessed.” The other five didn’t argue with Chengzi this time. They all agreed.

”Then why did you come back?” Da Biao asked.

Daqing sighed, ”Sister-in-law remembers nothing, not even what year it is.”

The meeting room fell silent, so quiet a pin drop could be heard. All six stared at Daqing.

Daqing gave a bitter smile, ”It’s been so long now, do you think the leader is still alive?”

It was Daqing who asked this; if it had been anyone else, they would have fought tooth and nail.

But these were brothers who shared life and death, and they knew Daqing was right.

”After knowing about sister-in-law’s amnesia, I thought perhaps we shouldn’t let her know about the leader and the children.

Though it’s a deception, it’s better than leaving sister-in-law to live in grief for a lifetime.

The seven of us will never give up searching for the leader. What do you think?”

The other six lowered their heads, and Da Biao was the first to raise his hand, and finally, everyone agreed.

”Alright, let’s settle it. Let’s call Leader Zeng.”

”Daqing, you and Da Biao go talk to Leader Zeng directly. The other five of us will handle garrison matters,” Hu Zi said.

”Yes, let’s talk face-to-face.”

The two of them arrived at Zeng Zhenqing’s office.

”Why are you two here? Right, there will be someone in charge coming by tomorrow. Rest assured, Zhang Chunsheng will come over. You’re familiar with him by now.”

The garrison really can’t be without leadership.

Da Biao and Hu Zi weren’t happy hearing this. The leader had been through so much together with them, and now they didn’t know if he was dead or alive. Sister-in-law was still in the hospital, and they were rushing to send someone over.

But both were rational people and understood these were normal matters, just hard to bear emotionally.

”What brings you here? What are you standing around here for?”

”Leader, our sister-in-law woke up.”

Zeng Zhenqing showed a smile, ”That’s great. Truly great.” He stood up as he spoke.

”Leader, wait, we have something to say.”

”What’s the matter?”

”Leader, although our sister-in-law woke up, she’s amnesiac. She doesn’t even know what year it is. Dean Ding called her name, but she didn’t react.

”Amnesiac?”

”Yes, Dean Ding said she might recall under some stimulation or further injury, or perhaps she never will.

We’ve been with the leader for so long, so we discussed not telling her about the leader and the three children.

We know how she reacted after the incident; we can’t bear to see her live in pain for the rest of her life.”

Zeng Zhenqing sat down and was contemplating the matter.

”Hold on, I’ll report this to the senior leadership, and I will convey your thoughts to them.”

”Leader, we hope you can persuade the senior leaders. Although my sister-in-law is strong, she has endured the greatest blows a woman can face; please have mercy on her, it’s not easy for her.

I got the information that when the incident happened, sister-in-law was mid-way through swimming.

The leader once mentioned that sister-in-law is a free-spirited person. If he hadn’t tied her down, she wouldn’t have stayed here.”

Zeng Zhenqing paused for a moment.

At this moment, Hu Zi continued, ”Our sister-in-law does have capabilities, but shouldn’t we rely solely on a woman?

Let’s just let my sister-in-law live the life she enjoys.”

Zeng Zhenqing remained silent, leaving the office directly. On his way to the leader’s office, his mind was occupied by what those two had just said.

Indeed, losing a husband and children is the biggest blow to a woman. This could be an unhealable wound, even in dreams.

But Xiao Su is truly exceptional; having lost Xiao Tan, he really didn’t want to lose another capable person.
