Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 517: 517 going overseas

But this fishing boat belongs to everyone, to the public, and he really can’t make the decision.

”Comrade, how about this, I’ll ask tomorrow.”

”Village chief, we’re grateful. Our family wants to see what the sea looks like inside.”

The old village chief nodded. ”Alright, I’ll ask when the fishing boat returns tomorrow.”

Tan Shaoting didn’t mind spending money on the children; this was truly a precious memory for them in the future.

At lunch the next day, the village chief spoke, ”You can rent it, but we have customs here. No women are allowed on the fishing boats, so Mr. Su, I’m sorry.”

The four of you, father and sons, can go on the boat. Everyone’s taking a rest day today,

but there will be four people from our place to operate the boat for you.

As for the price, it’s the price of a day’s worth of seafood, just one hundred and twenty yuan.”

Yuanyuan nodded. She was okay not going; with Tan Shaoting there, the children would be well protected.

”Grandpa, why can’t my mom go on the boat?” Qi Hong asked, confused.

”Because it’s an old rule here.”

”But if Mom doesn’t go, I don’t want to go either. Grandpa, I’m a girl too.” Qi Wen said, pouting.

The old village chief laughed, ”You said it yourself, you’re a girl. You can go with your dad to take a look.”

Qi Yan nodded as well; indeed, they have known since childhood to share good things with their parents.

Yuanyuan smiled, quite relieved. ”It’s okay, Mom will wait for you at home. You go with your dad to take a look.”

The three children looked at Mom anxiously, but seeing the encouraging expression on her face, they all laughed happily.

Tan Shaoting took out a hundred and twenty yuan and handed it to the village chief.

”Thank you, village chief.”

The old village chief nodded, thinking to himself, only people who are well-off can do this.

”Someone will come to get you at nine o’clock tonight. Don’t worry; tonight’s catch will all be yours.”

Since they’ve taken your money, of course, it all belongs to you.

Tan Shaoting shook his head, ”No need for that, just leave some for us to eat, and the rest can go to the village. Our family feels comfortable here, thanks to everyone’s kindness towards us.”

The old village chief smiled and nodded, recognizing them as a family who understood.

With arrangements made, their family went back, the children had a particularly good nap at noon, having gotten up too early.

In truth, Yuanyuan could rest easy because Tan Shaoting had the space, so if something really happened, he could still take in the three children. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have agreed, given the unpredictability of the sea. There are all kinds of dangers.

”Today is the fifteenth, I wonder what the moon on the sea will look like?”

”It should be bigger, brighter, nothing much else, right?”

”Yes, it should be like that. Do you get seasick?”

Tan Shaoting shook his head, ”I shouldn’t feel seasick, don’t worry, I’ll definitely keep a good eye on the children.”

”Mm, I’m assured.”

After dinner, the village chief’s daughter-in-law brought them some steamed buns, as they were going to the sea and couldn’t come back all night, fearing the little ones would get hungry with nothing to eat.

Both spouses were grateful for the kindness.

On their way back home, Yuanyuan suddenly wanted to chat with that girl, so she let her husband and sons go back to wash up.

Yuanyuan knocked on Feng Shanshan’s door.

”May I help you with something?” Feng Shanshan, knowing this woman was a wealthy tourist, had heard many people talking about her working hard this morning.

”Comrade, I want to have a chat with you.”

This made Feng Shanshan nervous, cautiously watching Yuanyuan.

”Relax, I mean no harm to you, let’s talk in the courtyard.”

Feng Shanshan didn’t feel any malice, so she brought a small stool for Yuanyuan.

”Girl, sit down too, let me tell you a story.”

Feng Shanshan was puzzled, why would a stranger come and tell her a story?

Nonetheless, she sat down across from Yuanyuan.

”Girl, what I’m saying is true, these are the facts.

I once met a girl, we stayed in the same room at an inn.

The girl’s behaviors and actions were really different, she said it was because there was no one in her family. She came to seek refuge with distant relatives.”

Feng Shanshan moved nervously upon hearing this.

Yuanyuan continued, ”She asked me how the transport team was. I thought, can a village girl drive?

But because I wasn’t familiar, I didn’t ask.

I went there to buy fertilizer for the farm and had contacts with the transport team. When I returned that evening, the girl was very upset because the transport team rejected her.

Maybe she was being too simplistic?

Nowadays, formal jobs are very hard to get. Besides, where would a village girl learn to drive, so I asked her if she could repair cars. She confessed.

Since the fertilizer wasn’t in stock, I had to wait, so I chatted with the inn’s aunties.

She joined as well, hearing me say I used to earn six thousand yuan a year on the farm with my husband.

So she applied to our farm. She wanted to live with me but was refused, so we parted ways.

But I still brought her to the farm.

She claimed to be a girl from the countryside, how could she not know farming? But she didn’t.

She thought she was clever, so she asked the male comrades at the farm for help.

Later a murder case happened.

She got scared and said many things she shouldn’t have. She claimed to be from the future. She had time traveled.”

Yuanyuan spoke while observing the girl, noticing her extreme tension.

”In reality, if you’re smart, nothing would happen.

Also, my husband is actually the one who saved you. They did send someone to look for you.

Today I want to tell you that we’ll pretend we never met you. As for your future, you better think it over.”

After saying this, Yuanyuan stood up. Feng Shanshan was now filled with fear, imagining being dissected, dragged off by a group for experiments like a lab rat.

She was nearly scared to death. Once she realized it, the person had already left.

She wandered back to her room, desperately trying to calm herself down.

She recalled that from the moment the woman stepped in, she didn’t feel any hostility. It truly was a help for her.

She must remember this. Also in the future, she shouldn’t go out. Just live life here, and when it’s time for college, she can study. Leaving then would be possible, but for now, just stay hidden and quiet.

Feng Shanshan was sincerely grateful to the woman earlier, thankful for her reminder and advice. The worst thing would be getting caught, but if she didn’t say anything, what could possibly happen?
