THE GOD EATER

He felt amused as he thought, ’The only thing you’re right about is that I am a significant threat that you have to take seriously. So maybe you’re on to something.’

The two of them had a stare-down like that. None of them said anything as they stared at each other.

As for the other two, they didn’t know what to do. So they became silent like Money Body and Loki. This ensured that the silence remained unbroken for a long time.

The silence wasn’t broken until a portion of the crystal shield lit up. When Money Body saw this, he became excited.

The rank 8 money cultivator said hurriedly to Nether Flame, ”Quick. Link your shield breaker now and activate it.”

Nether Flame did as he was told and activated his copy of the shield breaker. When the shield breaker was activated, a white beam of light was projected from the shield breaker in the direction of the other shield breaker.

The white light from the shield breaker struck the same spot on the crystal shield that had lit up earlier. This was because that spot was where the white beam of light from the shield breaker that had been planted in Oceania had made contact with the crystal shield.

The two beams of light began saturating the crystal shield in a bid to link up with each other. The crystal shield was tough, but they penetrated it like water moving through rock. This bleached the color of the part of the crystal shield from blue to white.

After four minutes, the beam of light from the shield breaker in Nether Flame’s hand successfully passed through the crystal wall. Then it met up with the beam of light from Oceania to form a stable channel of inactivity through the crystal shield.

Money Body’s excitement only increased when he saw this. He smiled and said with false modesty, ”Looks like I was right. Who would have thought it?”

The other three didn’t take the bait to flatter him about his great leadership skills, so he snorted in displeasure.

Then he said to Nether Flame, ”Hand over your shield breaker to the void ship. Do it quickly so that we can enter the world as soon as possible.”

When Nether Flame left to do what he was asked to do, Money Body turned to Loki and said, ”You will stay at the very back. And you will keep your mouth shut throughout the day. You must not say anything to any of the world kings we met in there.”

Then he turned to Blood Sword and said, ”The same goes for you. No talking to the world kings.”

”You know what, no one should say anything from now on. Leave the talking to me. If you have something to say, say it through the divine constellation.”

Loki watched Money Body’s actions suspiciously as he thought, ’What is he up to now? Is he worried that I will sabotage the mission by saying something to the dragons, or is he planning to sabotage the mission by saying something to the dragons?’

’Knowing this guy, anything is possible. I just hope that he will do his job of drawing the attention of the dragon king, or I might have to fight him to the death.’

While Money Body was instructing them on what to do and say, Nether Flame returned. Once Nether Flame returned, Money Body led them straight towards the crystal shield.

They moved in a straight line with Money Body at the front of the line. Nether Flame was next after him. Blood Sword was the third in line. Finally, Loki trailed behind them.

Money Body led them to the point in the crystal shield that had been bleached white. When he touched this part, the crystal shield didn’t activate to block or attack him.

It was as if this part of the crystal shield was dead. So it allowed Money Body and the three other divine beings to pass through it without resistance, the way it allowed the homunculi to pass through earlier.

With the crystal shield dead, they didn’t have to expend any of their lifespan to pass through it. The process of passing through the channel was also pleasant.

By this time, the will of the world had already noticed that something was wrong. The world kings had also noticed that something was amiss. After all, this was the first time that the crystal shield would be acting funny.

So they were sure that something extraordinary was taking place. What they weren’t sure about was what exactly was wrong.

Actually, the will of the world had noticed the 40 homunculi that entered it earlier. But the homunculi were mortal creatures that were nearly dead. So the will of the world didn’t consider them a threat to the safety of the world.

Now that the crystal shield was acting up, the will of the world couldn’t help but link up the appearance of the strange creatures from earlier with the strange behavior of the crystal shield.

So the will of the world began paying more attention to the strange creatures to see what they were up to and to determine if they were at fault for the malfunctioning of the crystal shield.

It was because of this vigilance that the will of the world found the strange artifact that was producing a white beam of light. The will of the world didn’t know if this artifact was the one responsible for the oddity in the crystal shield, but it wasn’t willing to take any chances.

With the mindset to destroy every strange new thing in the world, the will of the world began destroying the homunculi and the beaming artifact. Unfortunately, it was too late to stop what was going to happen.

After the strange artifact was destroyed, the beam of light that it was producing was cut off. However, this was not enough to stop the change in the crystal shield. This was because there was another shield breaker outside of the world that also had to be destroyed.
