THE GOD EATER

On their way to the meeting point, Nether Flame said, ”We have nearly every ingredient we need for this mission to be successful. You don’t seem weak. As long as you pull your weight, the mission should be completed successfully.”

Outwardly, Loki smiled and said, ”I’ll do my best.”

But inwardly, he was grinning as he thought, ’If you knew that you were talking to the person responsible for the death of over 20 divine beings in the past 11 years, of which four of them are rank 7 cultivators like you, you wouldn’t talk to me like that.’

Nether Flame didn’t know that he was talking to a serial killer, so he continued to say, ”This mission is very important to me. I doubt it is important to you since you’re willing to risk your life to complete it. So the mission is important to all four of us, which is why I hope everyone will put in their best effort to complete it.”

Loki found himself in complete agreement with this statement. He nodded and said, ”I agree with you a 100%. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be taking this with the utmost seriousness.’

What he didn’t say was, ’It isn’t me that you should be worried about. It is that suicidal and stubborn and proud Money Body that you should be worried about.’

’I always take the mission seriously. But Money Body can sometimes prioritize having his revenge over completing the mission. So you should be saying this to him.’

Nether Flame nodded in satisfaction when he heard what Loki said. He liked that Loki was willing to at least pretend that he was going to take the mission seriously.

Despite his convincing reaction, Nether Flame didn’t believe him completely. In fact, Nether Flame was still suspicious that the only reason Loki came to join this mission was to mess with Money Body.

If Loki were weak, he wouldn’t have considered Loki’s motive for joining the mission serious. But Loki was strong and possessed four Divine Positions, so if Loki’s objective was to tamper with this mission in any way, he had to take the possibility seriously.

However, he didn’t continue to pester Loki even though he was still suspicious. Since he had said his piece, he became silent as he led Loki away.

They soon reached their destination, and just like in the previous timelines, there were two people waiting there for them. However, there was a change to the people waiting there.

One of the people waiting there was a man made out of gemstones and shiny precious materials. This man was colorful and shiny from head to toe. He looked as if he were made out of every kind of material that can be used as legal tender in various societies and among various races.

This man was Money Body. Loki was used to seeing him. And when he used the Power Identification Ability on him, there didn’t seem to be much of a change.

Even without seeing Money Body’s attributes, he noticed the biggest change in the rank 8 money cultivator when he saw four stars shining in his golden holy flame. This sight caused his heart to jump.

He thought to himself in surprise, ’When did he gain a fourth Divine Position? I should have known if he had called a new Divine Position into his Cave Heaven. Everyone would have known, and it would be news that everyone would be talking about.’

’The only explanations are that he found a way to hide the process of gaining a new Divine Position or that he didn’t need to hide the process since the Divine Position was already in his Cave Heaven and only needed to move from the Life Fire of one of his slaves to his Life Fire.’

’Seeing as he isn’t hiding the fact that he possesses four Divine Positions right now, it is either because he can’t hide this or that he doesn’t intend to hide it. If he didn’t intend to hide the increase in his power, then it is unlikely that he put in effort to hide the process of acquiring the fourth Divine Positions.’

’In that case, his alliance will still have the same number of Divine Positions. It is just that one of the Divine Positions has switched ownership to him. So it is likely that one of the members of his alliance is dead or has been weakened if they had two Divine Positions before they lost this one.’

A lot of things went through his mind when he saw the improvement in Money Body’s Power, but outwardly, he smiled and said, ”Congratulations to the great cultivator on the advancement of his power.”

He was half sincere with what he said, but Money Body wasn’t appreciative of his compliment. The money cultivator sneered and said, ”What’s there to congratulate me about my fourth Divine Position? Don’t you also have four Divine Positions? If every riff raff can have four Divine Positions, what’s so great about it?”

Loki immediately smiled and said, ”The difference is that my four Divine Positions are mostly for show since I don’t have the mastery to use all of them.’

’As for your four Divine Positions, they represent a true increase in your strength since your understanding of the pathway is beyond the requirement to use all four of them.’

What he wanted to say was that he wasn’t riff-raff, and it wasn’t yet clear who would win between him and Loki. But Loki remembered what had happened in the previous timeline during the mission. He remembered how disasterious it had been, so he decided not to antagonize Money Body.
