THE GOD EATER

He wanted to kill Skarg, but he didn’t dare to go forward.

Instead of rushing after Skarg, he looked at the sky and said to himself, “There is a trap.”

What he sensed in the city made him snort and say, “If they think that I will fall for it so easily, they must be out of their minds.”

Then his figure became faint as he disappeared. All that was left was Muni bleeding out on the ground without a heart in his chest to help his blood leave his body as soon as possible.

On the other side, Skarg went to the sect grounds to inquire about what Loki did that day. He found out that Loki left the sect grounds before returning to stay the night in the barracks.

He also found out that Loki was taken by a logistics airship to a city connected to an earthly battlefield, so he went looking for the logistics ship.

His search led him to finding the name of the airship through the docking records and the supply records on the sect grounds. This cost him a lot of money, but he considered that it was worth it.

From there, he tracked down the logistics airship and discovered that it had gone to Earthly Battlefield E6-137 that day. So Skarg had reasons to believe that Loki was in Earthly Battlefield E6-137.

This was where he began to hit his first roadblocks. No matter how powerful he was, he couldn’t enter a battlefield simply because he wanted to. He had to be assigned to the battlefield to enter that battlefield. Any attempt to circumvent this rule could lead to death.

He was willing to abide by this rule, but he was stymied again by another roadblock. This roadblock appeared because he couldn’t determine which earthly battlefield he would enter. Only the sect could determine where he would go, and it would do so based on the most urgent need for manpower.

Since he couldn’t sign up in order to gain access to Earthly Battlefield E6-137, he had to rely on people who had already been assigned to Earthly Battlefield E6-137 to help him acquire information about Loki.

So he went to the city and lay in wait for soldiers that had been assigned to Earthly Battlefield E6-137. His goal was to lay someone to help him ask around for Loki when they enter the battlefield.

This step was easy to do since he was only asking for information. He wasn’t asking them to kill Loki for him, and the soldiers of the Four Directions Sect had no sense of loyalty for their brothers in arms, so the soldiers were willing to snitch for him, and the cost needed to employ them to do this job was cheap.

Unfortunately for him, another roadblock appeared at this step. This interference came in the form of people snooping around his situation.

All of his actions and movements have attracted other curious people into searching for Loki, too. This was something that he couldn’t have avoided, no matter how he tried, because most of the important people in Crystal City had learned that the city was shut down because some people were searching for his son, Slav.

A lot of people had been keeping an eye on him because of his son, who awakened a Divine Metac. So now that they knew that he was looking for someone named Loki, they too became interested in Loki and began looking for him.

So many people also began to hire soldiers to look for Loki for them. They waylaid soldiers reporting for duty and made them an offer that they couldn’t resist.

With so many people looking for Loki, the chances of finding Loki had increased, but Skarg wasn’t happy about it. This situation made Skarg feel a sense of urgency because with so many people looking for Loki, it would be very difficult for him to keep Loki to himself.

Skarg became desperate and decided to do something to gain a headstart over his competition. So he returned home to his farm, where he raises slaves and crops.

He didn’t go there to relax or to wait for good news. He went there to dig graves.

There was a large mass grave where the corpses of dead slaves were buried. He went there to dig up the corpse of a particular group of people.

Of course, he didn’t do the digging himself. He had slaves do it while he stood by the side watching them work.

As he observed their work with his arms folded across his chest, he said to himself, “It is fortunate that we didn’t feed all of them to the pigs.”

His daughter, Sophia, who was standing to his right, said with a smile, “That’s only because there was nothing left to feed to the pigs.”

Serge, who was on the left of their father, nodded in agreement and said, “Their treatment turned out to be useless back then, but it has come into use today.”

What he said reminded Skarg of what they did to make Loki give up on his ambitions for freedom. So he chuckled and said, “I was wondering why it failed before, but I am no longer surprised that he refused to give up just because we were going to kill his family. How can a reincarnated person give up their life for some slaves?”

Loki used to belong to a family of five. He had two parents and two siblings.

When he escaped from this farm just a few months ago and went to join the Four Directions Sect, the Rein Family had threatened to kill his family if he didn’t return.

Loki refused to return, so they went through with their threat. Of course, they executed the threat as painfully and as slowly as possible so that Loki would hear about it and return because of heartache.

They first started with Loki’s father. They beat him for many days until the man became a pile of broken flesh.
