THE GOD EATER

By infusing the energy threads, which he can’t control, with something like his internal energy, which he can control, he can manipulate the energy threads somewhat and they become controllable.

However, getting an energy thread to swell is a very difficult process. In most cases, all of the energy in one’s energy chamber won’t be enough to accomplish this. So, rank 3 cultivators usually need to supplement their internal energy reserves with an external source of energy, which is what energy stones are.

Fortunately, he has four other energy chambers that can assist a single energy chamber, so he can make an energy thread quickly become swollen without spending money.

Once he can move the energy, the thread becomes swollen the rest becomes somewhat easy. All he needs to do next is to press the swollen energy thread onto the budding energy nexus. Over time, the swollen energy thread will fuse with the budding energy nexus.

As easy as this step is, it still has a major problem. This problem is that the time it will take for an energy thread to fuse with the brain stem is indeterminate.

He can speed up the fusion process significantly by infusing all of the previous energy threads that have already fused with some energy, too, but the time the fusion will take can be as short as one week or as long as one month.

The second problem is that when a fusion starts, it must not be interrupted for anything else, or the process will have to be restarted.

This is why it doesn’t matter if only one day remains for the fusion of one month to complete. If the fusion stops, he will have to restart the one month of work. So cultivators need absolute focus, a lot of mental energy, and a lot of time to focus for the fusion of energy threads to be completed.

He has the Quadruple Mind Metac to solve the problem of Absolute Focus. The Quadruple Mind Metac created four copies of his mind that he can use for various things. It is because of this Metac that he can refine his body while fusing the energy threads.

In fact, the Quadruple Mind Metac makes the fusion faster by enabling him to keep an energy thread swollen while moving it around and infusing the previously fused energy threads with energy to facilitate a quick fusion.

As for the need for a lot of mental energy, the Concentration Metac and his large amount of internal energy solve that problem. The pain of his body being refined is making things difficult for him, but he can manage thanks to the Concentration Metac and the Quadruple Mind Metac. This leaves only the issue of time to be solved.

According to his experience, it takes an average time of 2 weeks for an energy thread to fuse. This amount of time isn’t a problem for normal cultivators with 50 energy threads. They will only take a maximum of 2 years to complete it if they spend all of their time.

Of course, rank 3 cultivators are rarely lucky enough to be able to spend w straight years cultivating without disturbance. So they will definitely take much longer than that time to finish the fusion of 50 energy threads.

While he can bear to continue fusing energy threads all the time thanks to the Quadruple Mind Metac, he won’t be lucky enough to have just two years to complete the fusion. From his calculations, he will need 16 and a half years to complete the fusion.

16 years is a very long time for him just to advance to rank 4. Even if he can speed things up by dedicating all four minds in his head to fusing two energy threads at the same time, it will still take him more than 8 years.

Just the thought of this made him groan in frustration. But because he needed all of his minds for fusing energy threads, he didn’t indulge in groaning in frustration. He quickly put an end to it and focused all of his attention on his great work.

As the energy threads fused in his brain, he found himself spending energy stones to keep the process going, even though he shouldn’t need energy stones. This was because the extra Concentration Metac, the Quadruple Metacs, and the fusion of two energy threads at a time were consuming far more energy than his five energy chambers could provide.

While he was busy within the hull of the cargo, increasing his strength, Jane was going around meeting soldiers and making friends. The two of them didn’t meet this time around because Loki was too busy.

Loki didn’t stir when the small world that fell from the heavens nearly crashed into them. He didn’t move at all until the airship reached its destination and stopped.

After the airship stopped, he packed his things into his wheeled luggage and left the ship.

From there, he went straight to the train. He didn’t ask for directions to the sect grounds or go to the sect grounds to report for duty. He just went straight to join the train going to the battlefield.

The only thing that he did that was similar to his last life was to admire the scenery of the world barrier and the cities around it. But just like the last timeline, he didn’t stop to do these things. While he was checking the scenery, his feet moved quickly as he rapidly covered the distance to his destination.

By going straight to the train, he bypassed a lot of trouble and didn’t waste time as he did in the last timeline. Unfortunately, he couldn’t escape the trouble that was Jane because the two of them finally met.

They met because they were in the same carriage on the train. He was already seated because he came early. She came late, so she met him there.

When Loki saw her and her group of four, he groaned inwardly.
