All Beautiful Girls Want to Stick with Me

Yukino Yukinoshita pondered gloomily in her heart, and at that very moment, the mocking laughter of ”Little Yukino” arrived right on cue:

”How ridiculous. The answer is already so obvious, yet you’re still asking yourself why? Haven’t you always believed you’re ice-cold and brilliantly intelligent? Or is it that, in your personality, self-indulgent delusion has already surpassed your intelligence? Or perhaps the reason you think you’re so smart is precisely because of that delusion?

”Kotomi didn’t come back at all last night. Let’s not even mention whether she really went to her third uncle and aunt’s house like she said.

”Even if she did go, once she realized she wouldn’t be coming back that night, she only sent a message to Yui. Not to mention a message—she didn’t even send you a single punctuation mark.

”Tsk tsk, how pitiful. No wonder the moment you woke up this morning, the jealousy in your heart swelled so intensely.”

Yukino Yukinoshita shot a vicious glare toward where ”Little Yukino” stood. Fortunately, Yui was currently on the phone with her mother. If Yui happened to glance over now, she would see Yukino glaring fiercely at empty air, as if trying to kill it.

”Little Yukino” pretended to be frightened, shrinking back with a shiver before continuing her mockery:

”My, what a murderous look. If only you could be a bit more decisive—if you could turn that same murderous gaze toward Yui, toward every girl around Kotomi, and kill them all—would you still need to sulk like this just because Kotomi texted Yui but not you, letting jealousy build up~? If you truly had resolve, you should use it in the ’right’ place, not treat me as your punching bag.”

”Shut up!”

Yukino Yukinoshita growled through clenched teeth in a low voice. For some reason, every time she heard ”Little Yukino” speak, no matter how calm she had been before, her emotions would instantly become agitated.

Perhaps it was because every single word ”Little Yukino” spoke struck directly at Yukino’s weak points. Compared to usual, her mood right now was far more irritable and furious.

At this moment, the fact that she hadn’t rushed forward to grab ”Little Yukino” by the throat and twist it off was already the utmost limit of her self-control.

As usual, ”Little Yukino” didn’t shut up because of Yukino’s words. On the contrary, the more she was threatened, the more she was stared at with killing intent, the more enthusiastic she became.

It was as if Yukino Yukinoshita’s anger and irritation were the very fuel that drove ”Little Yukino” to speak.

”Honestly, there’s no need for you to get angry over Kotomi’s ’preferential treatment’ this time. Isn’t it perfectly normal for her to treat you differently from Yui?

”After all, Kotomi and Yui are in a mutually affectionate, two-way relationship. They’re a loving couple who both understand each other’s feelings.

”And as for you and Kotomi... perhaps, in Kotomi’s heart, your relationship is nothing more than that of ordinary classmates.

”Heh, ’classmates’ might sound a bit too low. Seeing how pitiful you are, I’ll kindly upgrade it for you—to friends.

”Well? Doesn’t that sound much nicer than ’classmates’?

”But no matter how you dress it up, because of your cowardice, because of your incompetence, the word that defines your relationship with Kotomi can only remain at ’friend’!

”Does it make you unwilling to accept it? Too bad. Back then, you were too cowardly to confess your feelings, so Kotomi was snatched away by Yui first.

”In short, in Kotomi’s heart, Yui is her girlfriend, while you can only count as a friend.

”If Kotomi didn’t treat you differently, Yui might be the one getting angry at her instead... though if they really did fight, that would actually be great news for you. You could take advantage of the situation and steal Kotomi away from Yui.”

Sitting lazily on the windowsill, ”Little Yukino” spoke in a casual tone, yet her words were laced with endless mockery.

”Take advantage of the situation? I wouldn’t stoop to such despicable tactics!”

Yukino Yukinoshita said dismissively. Then, feeling she had finally found a chance to strike back, she retorted sharply,

”Only someone as vile as you would even think of such underhanded methods.”

Faced with Yukino’s sarcasm, ”Little Yukino” showed not the slightest displeasure. This wasn’t something that could be faked.

It was as if she had never taken any of Yukino’s rebuttals to heart at all. She chuckled and said,

”Your mouth is yours—you can insult me however you like. But is it really a good idea to curse me like that?

”After all... every word I say represents the truest thoughts buried deep within your heart.

”I told you before, didn’t I? The reason you can see me while others can’t is because I’m nothing more than a hallucination born from the obsession deep within your heart.

”You’re used to burying your true thoughts in the deepest part of your heart. The longer you bury them, the deeper they sink, the harder it becomes for you to perceive them. But these accumulated thoughts gradually transform into obsession, constantly influencing your heart, causing it to slowly twist from its very core.

”The reason you feel like nothing has changed in your heart isn’t because your mindset is so strong. It’s simply because the changes brought by obsession are neither too fast nor too slow—and extremely subtle—making them difficult for you to notice.

”By the time your heart is completely devoured by obsession and becomes twisted—”

”Little Yukino” spoke in an exaggerated manner, yet every word carried an inexplicable pull that made Yukino want to keep listening.

Precisely because she knew Yukino wanted to hear more, ”Little Yukino” deliberately paused at that moment instead of continuing.

Although Yukino Yukinoshita truly wanted to hear what came next, after sensing the obvious intent to keep her in suspense, she merely let out a cold snort and said,

”I admit I do want to hear the rest, but if you think you can play games with me because of that, you’re underestimating me.”

”You really do have a sharp tongue...”

”Little Yukino” mocked with a smile before continuing,

”Alright then, I’ll go on. When your heart is completely consumed by obsession and becomes twisted—you still won’t be able to feel it.”

That answer made Yukino Yukinoshita slightly furrow her beautiful brows. Even though she often dismissed what ”Little Yukino” said, she had been listening very carefully just now.

That was because, just moments ago, when ”Little Yukino” mentioned that many true thoughts were buried deep within her heart, Yukino Yukinoshita could clearly feel her heartbeat gradually quickening, as if something deep inside her was resonating with those words.

Under this almost resonant pounding of her heart, Yukino suppressed her dissatisfaction toward ”Little Yukino” and prepared herself to listen further. If it were true that countless genuine thoughts were buried deep within her heart, and that these long-hidden thoughts had already turned into obsession, then what exactly would she become when, as ”Little Yukino” described, her heart was completely consumed by that obsession?

Yet unexpectedly, when ”Little Yukino” revealed the answer, she claimed that even if her heart were entirely devoured by obsession, she still wouldn’t feel anything at all.

”What do you mean by that? Are you trying to mock me in a roundabout way, saying that I’m slow-witted? If you went through all that trouble, spun such a long story just to ridicule me, then I can only say you’ve wasted your effort. Do you really think I’d believe such childish rhetoric?”

Yukino Yukinoshita frowned, showing no mercy in her words toward ”Little Yukino.”

”Spinning a long story just to mock you? Is that really how low you think of me? Don’t be so impatient—listen to me properly until the end.”

”Little Yukino” shrugged, then jumped barefoot down from the windowsill, stepping onto the tatami. As she wandered around the room, she continued speaking:

”The reason I said that even when your heart is completely consumed by obsession and begins to twist, you still won’t feel it isn’t to mock you. I didn’t say all that just to go in circles either. It’s because when a person’s heart truly begins to twist, they genuinely don’t feel it at all. The reason is simple—your cognition has changed.”

”Your cognition has changed?”

”Have you ever heard of psychology? It’s a field dedicated to studying the human mind—consciousness, thoughts, emotions, and spirit. Scholars who study it believe that the mind is the root of everything.

But some who become overly obsessed with studying the mind may eventually lose their sanity, turning into people ordinary individuals can’t understand—madmen who live in their own worlds.

That’s because, in the process of their research, they engage in excessive thinking. One careless step, and their thoughts can go astray—what people often call losing oneself to obsession.

This kind of mental deviation is fatal, because it subtly alters a person’s cognition.

When someone’s cognition changes, the world they perceive becomes different from that of normal people. Their logic, their behavior—everything changes drastically. Simply put, they’ve gone mad.

Whether it’s scholars obsessed with studying the mind or ordinary people, anyone’s cognition can gradually shift in an irreversible direction, eventually turning them into a madman. The cause may differ from person to person.

For example, if one day you were to go mad, the reason might be that your entire heart had been devoured by the obsession buried deep within you.

There aren’t many things that can alter a person’s cognition—but there aren’t few either. And among them, the emotion known as obsession is one of the most powerful.”

The sudden, detailed explanation from ”Little Yukino” left Yukino Yukinoshita momentarily dazed.

She... might one day become a madwoman?

Yukino Yukinoshita couldn’t imagine what she would look like after losing her sanity. But she was certain of one thing—if that day ever came...

Before she could finish the thought, ”Little Yukino” spoke it aloud for her:

”If one day you really do go mad, who is the one person you wouldn’t want to see you like that?”

”Kotomi...”

This time, Yukino Yukinoshita didn’t argue. She simply lowered her head, her voice trembling slightly as she spoke.

If that day ever came, the last person she would want to witness her deranged state would be Kotomi Izumi...

”In that case, you’d better work on controlling your emotions. Stop thinking all day about how to kill me, or secretly stewing in jealousy while watching Kotomi and Yui being sweet together. You’re not Kotomi’s girlfriend right now—what right do you have to feel jealous?”

”Little Yukino” said with a cheerful smile.

”Shut up!” Yukino Yukinoshita growled again, though this time her voice lacked the strength it had before.

”I’ve noticed that every time I appear, the thing you say most often is ’shut up’...

My voice is the same as your voice when you were younger. Do you really hate the sound of your younger self that much? Even though it’s so cute.

Well, never mind. Since you don’t want to hear it, I’ll disappear from your sight a little sooner today. It feels like if I stay even one more second, you’ll come up with at least a hundred ways to brutally kill me in your head.”

”Little Yukino” spoke softly, her figure gradually fading, as if it might dissolve into the air at any moment.

”Oh, right, Yukino. Before I disappear completely, let me tell you one more secret.”

Just as she was about to vanish, ”Little Yukino” suddenly spoke again.

Although Yukino Yukinoshita wished for her to disappear quickly, she couldn’t help but ask,

”What secret?”

”In fact, there’s already a madwoman right by your side.”

”Who is it?!” Yukino Yukinoshita asked in shock.

In the next instant, ”Little Yukino’s” answer made her eyes widen.

”Kotomi Izumi. Because of a decayed flower, she’s already wandering on the edge between madness and reason. She may look like a normal girl on the surface, but in reality... she can already be called a madwoman.”

At this point, ”Little Yukino” let out a soft laugh:

”Thinking about it that way, the two of you are quite well-matched. A madwoman falling in love with another madwoman. I’m really looking forward to how this ends. I imagine... it’ll be a good ending.”
