MIGHT AS WELL BE OP

Chapter 799: Bird

”Is there anything else?” Aaaninja asked, his voice calm, measured, as though addressing no one at all.

”No, my Lord. I shall be here to retrieve you in three days,” the subordinate replied, his form vanishing into nothingness as if he had never existed.

”You are very patient. I will give you that,” Aaaninja’s voice echoed through the air, lingering in the still space like a gentle wind across a silent landscape. Everywhere remained utterly quiet, as though the planet itself held its breath, allowing only the sound of his words to exist. For a fleeting moment, it almost appeared as though he had gone mad, speaking to himself amid the boundless silence.

”I despise it when people are caught yet act as if nothing has changed,” he murmured again, his head turning ever so slightly. His eyes, like twin rainbow clocks, forever marking the passage of time, fixed on a distant point in the void of space, observing some unseen event.

At that very instant, reality itself seemed to warp. Space bent and folded as if it were a sheet of paper being crumpled, and from the rippling void, a being emerged, radiating divine grace so bright it threatened to blind any mortal gaze. Ten pairs of pristine white wings extended from its back, each feather catching the light in dazzling patterns. Golden hair danced upon an unseen wind, and a radiant glow of white and gold enveloped its entire form, as if it had descended from the heavens themselves.

It was an Angel.

”Oh, lower being,” the Angel spoke, its voice warm and melodious, carrying an almost hypnotic comfort. ”I have come to deliver your salvation.” Its golden eyes shimmered as it looked upon Aaaninja.

For the first time in centuries, Aaaninja paused. He had never been addressed as a ”lower being.” The title, meant to belittle, instead amused him. A soft smile brushed across his lips.

”I have been watching you for a few days, oh lower being,” the Angel continued, its tone unwavering. ”Despite your limitations, all are welcomed to serve HIM. In HIM, there is mercy. In HIM, there is perfection. In HIM there is—”

Before the Angel could finish, a force struck it with unimaginable speed. Pain exploded across its face and mind as it was hurled backward violently. The Angel’s golden eyes widened, and without hesitation, it flapped all ten pairs of wings, halting midair with divine precision. Its gaze snapped toward Aaaninja, burning with a mix of confusion and fury.

’When...?’ the Angel thought, watching as its wounds healed in an instant, the golden blood on its lips vanishing before it could drip to the ground.

”I hate buzzing houseflies,” Aaaninja said from the very position the Angel had occupied, his voice laced with casual calmness.

At the word ”housefly,” the Angel’s once-graceful expression twisted into one of contempt.

”It seems your galaxy is not yet ready to accept HIM,” the Angel declared, its voice carrying authority. ”You shall be punished for your sins, lower being!”

Yet before it could channel its power, a sharp, resounding slap struck its cheek.

PA!

The sound reverberated across the air, and the Angel’s head snapped violently to the side. The force sent it hurtling through the air, crashing against a distant mountain with such force that fragments of its teeth scattered across the earth below.

The Angel surged forward, golden eyes now burning with deadly intent. This lower being dared strike him? He would pay with his life. But as he neared, another slap struck him, harder this time, sending him careening in the opposite direction. His body gouged deep trenches into the terrain, the impact so fierce the earth itself seemed to shudder.

Aaaninja descended with effortless calm, a bored tone in his voice. ”Tell me... are you truly a ten-winged Angel, or is your god merely a fraud?”

Rising with a deep frown, the Angel’s pride burned. He had not even revealed any information on his galaxy, yet this lower being already seemed to know more than he should even guess.

”No need to be surprised,” Aaaninja said, stepping closer with measured ease. ”This is simply one of my abilities. Though you exist in another galaxy, we all share the same River Of Time.”

The Angel’s eyes narrowed at those words.

”Ten-winged Angels are said to be planetary-level beings. Yet here you are, reduced to this state with a mere slap? How can you hope to conquer our galaxy at such a rate?” Aaaninja paused before him, locking his multicolored eyes with the Angel’s golden gaze.

Normally, he would have ended a mere stranger in moments, but this was a species entirely unfamiliar, a visitor from another galaxy. Curiosity allowed it to exist a few seconds longer.

’How does he know everything?’ the Angel thought, disbelief coursing through him. He had seen no technique, no method of intelligence gathering, and yet the being anticipated his every move.

’I must escape,’ the Angel realized, desperation creeping into his mind.

But before he could act, Aaaninja’s voice cut through like a blade. ”Does your god only accept weaklings? You haven’t even used your abilities or weapon, and already you consider fleeing?” Aaaninja’s voice carried quiet disappointment. ”Sigh... this is what happens when one does not obtain power by themselves.”

Before the Angel could respond, Aaaninja’s hand shot forward, delivering another strike. The force was more impactful, shattering the Angel’s head like a ripe melon. Golden blood splattered in arcs, frozen midair as Aaaninja halted time with effortless control.

Once again, the subordinate appeared, kneeling respectfully. ”My Lord, punish me. An enemy lingered here for an unknown duration, and I failed to detect him.”

Aaaninja did not glance at the man. His gaze remained fixed on the feathered corpse before him as he replied, ”he was stronger than you. You could not have sensed him.”

With a measured gesture, he retrieved a memory crystal from his spatial ring, placing it upon his glabella. Streams of knowledge from the River Of Time flowed into it, an exact record of the Angel’s abilities, thoughts, and every action. He tossed the crystal to his subordinate.

”Deliver this to Father. He will know what to do with it. You may also take this... bird,” Aaaninja said, turning sharply and returning to the mountain where he had trained for countless days.

’A galaxy invasion, huh?’ he mused silently, his mind brushing against the audacity of a being who had dared to declare itself a god.
