Chapter 783: Possibility

Within a grand hall of the Divinora Galaxy lay a separate plane that seemed to exist above all within it. In this place, only Angels resided, no other race or being was permitted here. Even the servants were Angels, though they were Wingless Angels, hence their lower status as attendants.

Everything within this separate plane was pure white and gold; these were the only two colors that existed here. Any other color was deemed unacceptable. From the trees to the grass, to the mountains that stretched endlessly, and the water bodies that flowed gently, everything shimmered in hues of white and gold.

The Angels were known as the Emissaries of God. Some whispered that Angels were the direct descendants of God Himself, His personally birthed children, but all who spoke such words were executed for blasphemy and branded as heretics, for it was believed that their God knew no mortal carnality. Their God was above such mortal impulses. Their God was divine. Their God was immaculate.

Within this separate plane, life flowed as naturally as in any other world, vibrant yet tranquil. The air was peaceful and serene, carrying an eternal stillness. Numerous Angels could be seen flying gracefully through the skies. Faith hung thick in the air, saturating the atmosphere as though it were oxygen itself. Even the children of the Angels could be seen soaring across the firmament, their skin a blend of white and gold, their hair shimmering in hues of gold, white, or a mixture of both. But every Angel, whether winged or wingless, possessed golden eyes.

High above the skies floated a magnificent structure, an ethereal building of divine architecture. Within it rested a massive round table carved from celestial wood, gently suspended upon a cloud. Twelve golden seats surrounded the table, and upon these seats sat twelve Angels whose wings radiated a brilliance unlike any other.

These twelve did not possess a mere single pair of wings; they bore twelve pairs, which hung majestically behind them, an unmistakable symbol of their rank and power. Among Angels, the number of wings one possessed denoted their strength, their status, their rank, it was their everything.

The twelve seated here represented the highest order within the separate plane, the ones who could commune directly with HIM, the ones who received HIS decrees firsthand.

The Angels sent earlier to deliver HIS decree across the galaxy were but the weakest among their kind, possessing merely two pairs of wings. A single pair of wings was not even regarded as a rank, for Angelic children were naturally born with one pair. What the inhabitants of Divinora considered divine and majestic was, in truth, merely the weakest among the Angels. And the fact that mortals revered them so only deepened the Angels’ sense of superiority, feeding the fanatic devotion of their followers.

However, just because two Angels shared the same number of wings did not mean their power was equal. Nothing in existence was ever truly equal, there would always be the strongest and the weakest, even among the strongest beings of an entire galaxy.

At this moment, the twelve Angels gathered around the celestial table began to converse.

”We’ve lost contact with many of ours that we sent over to that galaxy,” one of the twelve-winged Angels stated calmly. A white veil covered her face as her wings spread wide behind her, shimmering with divine light, as though to remind the others of her presence, even though they too possessed wings as splendid as hers.

”Did we receive any distress signal?” another asked, a male Angel whose towering frame was imposing, his height immense, his presence almost titanic.

”No. I think they are still alive, but they were captured or killed too swiftly to send a distress signal before their end,” another Angel intoned gravely.

At those words, the remaining Angels frowned. They could not recall the last time they had lost even a single one of their kind to another race. The last such incident had occurred eons ago, during the war against the Devils.

The Angelic race despised losing even a single one of their own. Even the Wingless Angels who served as attendants within this realm were still Angels, still sacred in the divine hierarchy.

”Do we know who captured or killed them?” another Angel asked, her golden eyes flashing with malice. If the information existed, she would personally cross into that galaxy and obliterate the offenders.

Everyone sensed the killing intent radiating from her words, yet none commented. They too harbored their own wrath.

”I did not receive any such information,” the Angel responsible for intelligence answered calmly. ”However, we still have others stationed within that galaxy. If any new information is relayed, I will ensure it reaches us immediately.”

Silence reigned within the grand hall. The white clouds beneath their feet and the golden table continued to swirl gently, reflecting the soft shimmer of divine light. The discussion dragged on for hours as they exchanged every shred of intelligence they had gathered since their last congregation.

”There is a possibility I would like us to consider,” one Angel spoke finally, his tone calm yet firm as he sat with one leg crossed over the other.

”What possibility?” another inquired.

”What if,” the Angel began, his golden gaze sweeping across the others, ”a race similar to ours exists within that galaxy? What are we to do then? I am certain such a situation would require special consideration and direct orders.”

The hall fell silent. The Angels frowned, not because they found the notion impossible, but because they understood its gravity. They were not hypocrites who would dismiss such an idea outright. As beings who stood at the peak of Faith and ruled the entirety of Divinora, they knew better than most how swiftly the impossible could become reality.

”We will take this matter to HIM directly,” one Angel declared after a moment of deliberation. ”We are in no position to decide how to proceed without HIS divine command.”

The other eleven twelve-winged Angels nodded in agreement. Although the idea remained a mere possibility, it was better to account for it and find it false than to ignore it and discover too late that it was true.
