Lust System: Harem Of Beautiful Women

Chapter 64: Nancy Changing Sides

”You don’t even have a car for getting around. Second Sister rides that broken down electric bike to work every day. She must suffer terribly when it’s windy or rainy.” Daniel had found a new angle from which to criticize, feeling he could turn this situation around and reclaim the moral high ground.

”Brother, I haven’t even gotten my driver’s license yet. Even if I had a car, I wouldn’t dare drive it.”

”Daniel, Mom actually does have a license, but she’s forgotten how to drive.”

”And besides, Mom doesn’t travel far. She can just walk to the teahouse. It’s Lily who really needs to hurry up and get her license.” The mother and daughter spoke up, completely unaffected by his attempts to stir the pot. No matter how he tried to fan the flames or make snide remarks, it all fell flat.

What disgusted Daniel the most was that Nancy, who had always echoed his sentiments and matched her mother’s strong personality, actually seemed to ponder for a moment before asking in an uncharacteristically gentle tone.

”It’s true, buying a car probably isn’t necessary right now.”

Then, shifting her focus, Nancy looked at Luis and said, ”But Brother in law, you’d rather squeeze onto the bus for your commute to work, yet you spend money on jewelry for Lily and Mom. I actually think you should buy yourself a car instead.”

This statement almost made Daniel vomit blood. On the surface, it seemed his wife was agreeing with his point and supporting him, but no matter how he heard it, it sounded like she was praising this brother in law for being exceptionally considerate and selfless.

He’d rather endure hardship himself than be good to his wife and mother in law. What the hell...

Sure enough, Daniel saw Mother In Law Ruth’s smile become even more benevolent, and Lily’s eyes fill with even more tender, loving affection.

”He’s fine, but Brother-in-law is right.”

Luis was now a scheming bastard. His ability to carefully observe everyone’s expressions, analyze and gauge their psychology, and cater to their preferences had reached its peak.

Seeing his sister-in-law Nancy’s change in attitude, Luis immediately took his wife’s hand and smiled, ”We should buy a car, but one probably won’t be enough.”

”Let’s buy a cheaper one first, for Mom and Lily to practice with.”

”If a cheaper one gets scratched or bumped, it won’t be heartbreaking. After they get used to it, we can buy two better ones.”

Nancy asked curiously, ”Why buy two? If you go to work, you can go out with Lily together. You’re on the way.”

Ruth also said, ”Exactly. Cars are easy to buy but hard to maintain. They cost a lot of money every year.”

Luis looked deeply at Ruth. Just one glance made the guilty beautiful Mother-in-Law blush and turn her head away in embarrassment.

Lily immediately said, ”It doesn’t matter if I drive or not. The electric scooter is more convenient and doesn’t get stuck in traffic. Mainly, if husband has something to do, he’ll need to drive too, right?”

Luis said, ”One for Lily to commute to work, one for Mom to use. When Mom doesn’t need it, I can occasionally borrow it.”

Daniel, who had already lifted a rock and dropped it on his own foot, immediately chimed in again, ”Just say you’re buying it for yourself. What ’sharing with Mom’ is just an excuse.”

”If you’re reluctant to spend money, just say it. Why make it sound so nice to trick Mom? People who don’t know would think you’re really buying her a car.”

This time, he hit the key point, and it was somewhat reasonable. Daniel sneered, wanting to see how Luis would answer.

Nancy thought about it and seemed to agree, because their mother only went out to play cards every day, or at most bought groceries nearby. If they bought a car, the utilization rate would definitely be low, and Luis would definitely be the one driving it.

Daniel crossed his arms, looking like he was waiting to see how Luis would quibble. In his impression, Luis was honest and clumsy with words, just like his wife, a closed-off person.

Now that he had been poked in a sore spot, there was no way he could explain it properly.

Luis burst out laughing. ”Brother-in-law, after all, you don’t live with us. You haven’t seen what those card partners of Mom’s are like, what those so-called friends are like, or those neighbors.”

”Okay, tell me, what are they like?”

Daniel looked confident.

But Nancy was stunned and thought about it. After all, she grew up in this family and had already vaguely guessed what was going on.

Luis looked deeply at his Mother-in-Law again and said, ”Those bitches know our family doesn’t have a car. Like Brother-in-law, they think I’m useless, so sometimes they speak with sarcasm.”

”On weekends, they go to rural homestays in the suburbs together, saying things like ’there’s room in my car’... Or those card partners say things like going out to eat together, they can take their car and go together.”

This brought back bad memories for Ruth, who slapped the table angrily.

”That’s right, those bitches are doing it on purpose. They even say things like going on self-drive tours together...”

”What the hell are they showing off for? It’s just a car worth a little over a ten thousand, some are only worth thousands for commuting. It pisses me off.”

This brought up shared memories for the sisters. In this kind of native community, neighborly harmony is just talk.

It’s like how many people misunderstand the countryside as having simple folk customs. In fact, it’s even more vicious and spiteful, laughing at those who have nothing, jealous of those who have something, with green-eyed monsters everywhere, seizing every opportunity to make sarcastic remarks.

Nancy immediately shared the same enemy. ”That’s right, I remember Aunt keel the most. I was waiting for the bus, and she had to stop her car and say things like ’your family has so many people, squeezing into the bus is so impractical’.”

”Exactly, those disgusting people.”

Lily was good-tempered, but she couldn’t control sharing the same enemy.

The mother and daughters immediately shared the same enemy, recounting those sarcastic bitches.

Suddenly, they united. Daniel was a bit annoyed, and what was most disgusting was that his wife seemed to have defected too.

Lily said indignantly, ”Husband, I want a cheaper, smaller one that’s easier to park. It can be a practice car. Buy a better one for Mom, so Mom can properly vent her anger.”

As soon as she said this, Ruth was full of relief, and the more she looked at her well-behaved and sensible second daughter, the more she liked her.

Nancy was also very sensible and took her mother’s hand, saying seriously, ”Mom, before Luis buys the car, if anyone invites you to rural homestays or self-drive tours, tell me. I’ll immediately drive over to pick you up.”

When they got married, Daniel drove a Nissan worth a little over a ten thousand. Both husband and wife were vain, so they sold this car, and then the in-laws added some money to buy a second-hand BMW worth over thirty thousand.

No matter what, a BMW has prestige. Besides, how many women understand what series it is? As long as the interior is luxurious enough.

Yo yo... Even Nancy became sensible. Ruth could be said to be flattered.

Among the three daughters, the one who argued with her the most was Nancy. After all, she was the eldest daughter, the first child, the most spoiled.

The second and youngest didn’t have princess sickness at all; it was all concentrated on Nancy. She was also spoiled and had a temper no less than Ruth’s.

As an elder, Ruth immediately put on airs and pretended to be annoyed, ”How can that be? The good car should be for your wife to drive. Mom is already this age; driving that practice commuter car is enough.”

Lily immediately smiled and said, ”Mom, I’m a new driver; there will definitely be a lot of scratches. The parking space at our unit is small and hard to park. It’s more practical to buy a small, cheap one.”

”Besides, we’re a family. The car is bought for whoever needs it to drive. Why distinguish so clearly!”

Nancy immediately praised, ”Mom, Lily is right. Why distinguish so clearly? This is Luis’s filial piety.”

After saying that, they all looked at Luis. Even Nancy’s eyes showed some appreciation. After all, Luis was devoted to her biological mother.

When it came to the influence of toxic chicken soup and the factors of green tea attributes, Luis now felt that after living under the same roof with women for a long time, he had gained a lot of experience.

Luis immediately waved his hand, skillfully saying, ”Mom, don’t look at me. I’m only responsible for making money. As for how to spend the money, that’s up to Lily. I, a live-in son-in-law, still have self-awareness.”

Ruth immediately frowned and said, ”What nonsense are you talking about? What live-in son-in-law? Our family isn’t old-fashioned; there’s no such thing as marrying out or marrying in. You two being together is a small family.”

Nancy even agreed, ”Exactly, what era is this? Why are you still saying this? How outdated.”

Luis said innocently, ”But that’s what was said when I got married. It’s a fact. Besides, I didn’t give a bride price.”

This time, he was secretly making trouble again. When Daniel married his wife, he didn’t give much of a bride price either. According to custom, the betrothal money spent was just a drop in the bucket.
