Chapter 524 Cleansed World

A bunch of dwarves just brought home the corpse of a big beast.

The tribe started to dance around the corpse, thanking the world for the blessing that was this corpse.

It would feed them for three days.

And then, the entire village turned into an inferno.

All structures and people in the village had been burned to ashes.

The next moment, a powerful wind scattered all the flames on the surrounding trees.

”Good work, Mr. Freeman,” Magic Lady said. ”That was the last one.”

Kyle didnʼt answer.

”The population has been fixed,” she added. ”With time, every human in this world will be able to digest beast meat again.”

”The negative influences are all gone. The tasks involving damaging your Karmic Luck are over.”

”From now on, your Karmic Luck will improve.”

Kyle just sighed.

By now, he didnʼt care about his Karmic Luck anymore.

Over the last two days, he had gotten used to the endless burning.

It was still there, and it still hurt so much.

Yet, Kyle just looked away.

Nevertheless, the constant pain was still there, and it warped his perception of pain tremendously.

It was such a constant and overbearing presence that Kyle didnʼt even know what pain was anymore.

Yes, it hurt a lot, but did it?

Was it just there?

Of course, Kyle knew that he was just coping.

It fucking hurt so much, but as long as he didnʼt pay it any attention, he could keep living.

The next moment, a mountain made of books appeared in front of Kyle.

There were thousands of copies of ten different kinds of books.

One of the books talked about the human body and what it was capable of.

One of them talked about things to avoid while growing stronger.

One of them contained several rituals to improve oneʼs power without cannibalizing future Law Comprehension. The cheapest of them was still expensive, but 30% of families could still afford it. The most expensive one was the ritual to get an Aristocratʼs Body.

One of the books talked about techniques.

One of them was about Spells.

The remainder of the books were just filled with miscellaneous knowledge about random things.

”Spread these books across the world,” Magic Lady ordered.

Kyle just sighed and started flying.

With his Soul, he could just levitate the mountain of books and pull it with him.

There were so many books that it became almost impossible not to see one.

Even the smallest village received ten copies of each book.

Within just a couple of minutes, Kyle spread all the books across the world.

”Well done,” Magic Lady said as she appeared in front of Kyle. ”And with that, the majority of your work is done.”

”People will no longer be suppressed by people who used the false rituals to gain a temporary advantage at the cost of their potential.”

”People will be able to consume beasts, and pure forms of Ether will no longer be as desirable. This reduces the cost of pure forms of Ether, allowing the people to experiment more with it.”

”False Transcendents will no longer control the world. The most powerful people will be talented people with a Transcendentʼs Body, but they will be more interested in comprehending Laws. The books you have spread also talk about ascension, and the powerful people will know what they need to do to ascend.”

”This will vastly decrease the scale of wars.”

”What about beasts?” Kyle asked. ”Transcending Beasts are now free to do what they want without Nobodies present.”

”Beasts only eat as much as they need,” Magic Lady said. ”If there are no benefits to consuming something, they wonʼt consume anything.”

”Mortals barely hold any value to Transcending Beasts. As long as humans refrain from storing too much wealth in one place, not many Transcending Beasts will enter a conflict with them.”

”Every other kind of beast is killable by humans.”

”There will even be the occasional talented individual who will be able to kill a Level One Transcending Beast as a Mortal. The continued dominance of Transcending Beasts will motivate these individuals to realize their potential.”

Kyle sighed.

”Is that really it?” he asked.

”Yes,” Magic Lady said with a smile. ”The world will improve. As long as the world stays like it is right now, the Transcendent output will be satisfactory.”

”Your job, from now on, is to keep the world how it is right now. If you find any damaging rituals, you have to get rid of them. If you see false Transcendents, you kill them.”

”This will basically be your daily duties.”

”Well, aside from dealing with the Cult of Final Fate, naturally.”

Kyle almost couldnʼt believe it.

It was over.

And yet, the ever-present pain of the Sin Flames still attacked him.

He could still see the visions of burning people.

”Youʼve reached rock bottom with your Karmic Luck, Mr. Freeman,” Magic Lady said with a smile. ”From now on, it will only increase. In a couple of millennia, all your Karmic Curses will vanish.”

”That is, as long as the world keeps putting out Transcendents. If the output falls below expectations, I will have to visit and inspect it. In that case, it will be your task to cleanse it again, and cleansing is almost always accompanied by a significant drop in Karmic Luck, as you have experienced just now.”

Kyle just sighed again.

Yet, he didnʼt say anything.

”Well then, Mr. Freeman,” Magic Lady spoke politely. ”It has been a pleasure working with you. You have done a tremendous job!”

”I can tell that my presence is not to your liking, which is why I will return to my other duties.”

”I wish you good luck with your Tertiary World!”

Magic Lady waved politely.

Then, her body became more ethereal before it finally vanished.

Kyle could feel how Magic Lady left the world.

It was over.

It was actually over.

For several minutes, Kyle just stood in the middle of the air.

The pain.

It was so bad.

His arms shook.

ʼThousands of years of this until it gets better.ʼ

ʼThousands of years…ʼ

ʼAn eternity.ʼ

Kyleʼs body shook.

ʼWhat kind of fucked contract did I sign?!ʼ
